Rate My New Team

Hey guys, brand new to SMOGON. I've been around Pokémon my whole life since Red/Blue and have been into comp. battling since Diamond/Pearl =) I belong to other Pokémon forums across the web, so I'm not some first time n00b, I just figured I can get the most help here on Smogon as far as team building is concerned.
Here it is:

Espeon
Item: Light Clay
Ability: Magic Bounce
Nature: Careful
EV's: Max SPEED/Max HP
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Calm Mind
-Psychic

Usually the lead. Dual screener with decent SP.DEF. With its speed EVs it doesn't have a problem getting up its first screen most of the time, and depending on which opposing poke gets brought it, correlates with the screen I use first. I always switch out after both screen are u p to save her for later.

Tyranitar
Item-Tyranitarite
Ability- Sand Stream
Nature- Sassy
EV's: Max HP/Max SP.DEF
-Power-Up Punch
-Crunch
-Rock Slide
-Thunderbolt

The Mega. One of my favorite Megalutions in the game thus far. Great bulk and ATK. Even have Power up punch to raise attack while getting off some damage. Always good to get the sand up as well!

Ferrothorn
Item- Rocky Helmet
Ability- Iron Barbs
Nature- Relaxed
EV's: Max HP/Max DEF
-Toxic
-Leech Seed
-Gyro Ball
-Power Whip

Absolute tank! Very fun to play with this set! Got the Toxic/Leech combo for accumulative damage and hp regain. The Iron Barbs/Rocky helmet are great for an unsuspecting switch in during a physical atk by an opponent. It can take hits left and right and the max hp/def help ensure that

Regice
Item- Lum Berry
Ability- Clear Body
Nature- Calm
EV's: Max HP/Max SP.ATK
-Rest
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-Toxic

Another great tank! Its sp.def is through the roof and the combo of rest/lum works great for reliable recovery when they're least expecting it. Another toxic staller with good sp.att and good move pool.

Virizion
Item- Life Orb
Ability- Justified
Nature- Hasty
EV's: Max SPEED/Max ATK
-Close Combat
-Swords Dance
-Protect
-Leaf Blade

This thing? I call her Cinderella bc she can sweep like no one's business! Its a great switch in from espeon to take an incoming dark type atk with its ability to boost atk +1. the max sp/atk make sure that once I set up a SD, nothing will want to take a hit. the life orb will help this as well.
Mismagius
Item- Assault Vest
Ability- Levitate
Nature- Timid
EV's: Max SPEED/Max SP.ATK
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Dazzling Gleam
-Power Gem

Another great sp.atker with great speed! the assault vest was chosen because of its ability to take special hits relatively well, so it just prolongs its life. Love the move pool its got great coverage and is great to take an on coming close combat to one of my steel/ice/dark pokes

I really appreciate any feedback I can get from you guys. I know there are a few weaknesses to fighting/fire/etc.
Im actually doing pretty damn well with this team so far...but I know its not as perfect as I want it to be. These are all Shinies too so they look bad ass on the battlefield ;)
Thanks guys!

Hey mate, welcome to smogon i hope you get what you need out of this site, so i am going to do my best to try to help out. I'm not the kind of guy who is going to go out and tell you you need to change something, I'm just going to give you a few options, I'll go pokemon by pokemon.

espeon:
MOVESET- Ok as far as moves go your espeon is pretty standard, although most pack psyshock instead of psychic but that is a matter of preference since espeon's main job is not offensive, but i'm just trying to give you another option to think about. If you really want to turn espeon into a nuisance you could drop calm mind for morning sun to regain some health when facing a non threatening opponent, however that is far from common and may take some getting used to.

EV distribution- Ok let me start off by saying your current ev spread will work perfectly fine for you, feel no need to change it, but i do have a bit of an idea for you. In the current metagame, the most common leads are hazard setters, most prominently ferrothorn and forretress, both of which have a very low speed stat. Beings that you plan on leading with espeon, perhaps you would want to ditch the investment in speed and move it towards either defense or special defense. Allow me to give you a specific instance where this comes into play. Usually when you send out espeon against a ferrothorn, it will switch out because anything it throws out will be bounced back, but if you are playing sombody like me who carries a gyro ball ferrothorn, your current espeon takes major damage.
0 Atk Ferrothorn Gyro Ball (117 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Espeon: 181-214 (54.1 - 64%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

now lets take a look at it if we take away the speed investment (which will lower the power of gyro ball) and put it into defense.
0 Atk Ferrothorn Gyro Ball (94 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Espeon: 94-112 (28.1 - 33.5%) -- 0.2% chance to 3HKO
big difference right? now in that calc i also changed the nature to bold, which is + def - atk, now whatever you do with this espeon, i do not think you have the best nature, here is a link to the bulbapedia page on natures i would suggest going with a nature that has a minus in attack because espeon has no need for any attack, the way you have your espeon now i would suggest timid + speed - atk

END PRODUCT -

Espeon
Item: Light Clay
Ability: Magic Bounce
Nature: Timid / bold
252 hp
252 def
4 spdef
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Calm Mind / morning sun
-Psychic / psyshock

Tyranitar:
MOVESET - You have a very unique moveset here, based on your ev distribution it appears that you are looking for a tank, but based on your description it seems you want to use ttar as an offensive threat, since i am a little confused i am going to give you two options and you can choose whichever works.

Tanky T- Tar, Ok if you want a tanky t- tar, there are a few moves that you can use that help you make the most of this tanky titan. Tyranitar has an acceptable ammount of base bulk at 100 hp 110 defense 100 special defense and when it mega evolves it gets even tankier sticking with a decent 100 hp stat its defense jumps to 150 and it's special defense is up to 120. Don't let those stats fool you though, this pokemons strong point lies in special defense. This is because of sandstorm, which boosts the special defense of all rock types by 50 % essentially giving ttar mega a base 180 special defense stat for the first 5 turns. Just to get an idea of how good that is here is a quick calc.
252+ SpA Mega Alakazam Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Mega Tyranitar in Sand: 308-364 (76.2 - 90%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
now usually being able to 2hko something is a win, but tyranitar is 4x week to fighting, and alakazam mega is packing a whopping 175 base special attack stat, the sheer fact that it can tank that is mind boggling, anyway on to the moves. Tyranitar has access to stealth rocks, which is always usefull, and since it is tanky it should be able to set these up reliably. As with any bulky poke tyranitar is able to set up hard to break subs, standing up to pretty much any special move that is not super effective. Setting up a sub will prolong a battle and allow the sand to widdle away at your opponent. Since this is a mega however there is no way to recover the 25% hp lost to set up the sub, so they will need to be well placed, or you could go with a stellar status move in thunder wave inorder to paralyze your opponent which is argueably one of the best status's to inflict in a stall based battle, allowing the sand to hit them for more turns as they are "unable to move" Inorder to keep it's special defense sky high, it is important that tyranitar keeps the sand going so giving it access to sandstorm would be verry helpfull in the stall game . Finally in order to avoid making tyranitar set up bait, a phasing move is suggested on this set, and tyranitar has a pretty good one in dragon tail, which deals some damage aswell, backed by a solid base 164 attack stat that can still do a good amount of damage without much investment.

4 Atk Mega Tyranitar Dragon Tail vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gliscor: 42-50 (11.8 - 14.1%)

sure that isn't much at first glance, but that little bit of damage adds up, along with the phasing aspect which stops your opponent from being able to set up, as well as the entry hazzards and sandstorm racking up the residual damage, this set will allow you to clean up shop late in game once you eliminate any fighting types, which are pretty much the main threat for t tar.

FINAL PRODUCT A
Tyranitar
Item-Tyranitarite
Ability- Sand Stream
Nature- carefull
EV's:252 hp 252 spdef 4 atk

-stealth rock
- thunder wave/ substitute
- sandstorm
-dragon tail

OFFENSIVE T-TAR
Now don't think that t-tar mega is a pure wall, this thing has a great offensive prowess aswell, and it has access to powerfull stab moves to take advantage of a massive attack stat. It also has a great boosting move in dragon dance, which allows it to outspeed a majority of the metagame after 1 boost. at 1.5 speed tyranitar has a base speed stat of 106
and if you can manage to get in a second boost it soars to a blistering 142 which is enough to outspeed pretymuch anythign that isn't scarfed. And as far as attack goes, after one boost it is 246, and with the second boost it,s over 320. now to go along with this great boosting move, t-tar has plenty of powerfull options to attack with depending on what your team needs. first off as far as stab goes tyranitar has 4 options 2 rock moves and 2 dark moves, stone edge is a rock move with base 120 power and questionable accuracy, and rockslide is slightly weaker, but is more reliable. As for dark moves, crunch is the more powerfull option, but pursuit is also a usefull move to trap your opponent. now in the third slot there are 4 different valuable moves, depending on what your team needs you can run one of the three elemental bites, (thunder fang, Ice fang, fire fang) or you could run the powerfull earthquake.

FINAL PRODUCT B

Tyranitar
Item-Tyranitarite
Ability- Sand Stream
Nature-adament
EV's: 252 atk /252 Speed / 4 hp

-Dragon Dance

- Stone Edge / Rock Slide

- Crunch / Pursuit

- Thunder fang/ Ice fang/ fire fangTyranitar
Ferrothorn:

Ok this ferrothorn set is pretty good, I think toxic is a great move to use on ferrothorn and gyroball is amazing, but i don't really think that the power whip is necessary, I think that changing that for protect would allow you to rack up more residual damage, as well as get some more healing in with leech seed. Other than that i think you should leave ferrothorn alone. if you find that you continue running into steel types that aren't effected by toxic, ferrothorn also gets access to thunderwave, which may be usefull in allowing fero to heal through leech seed while the oponent cannot move.

Regice:

Now this is interesting, You don't see many people using this guy, but it is really good. the set that you are running on it is pretty good, the only thing i would change is i would run sleep talk instead of toxic, other than that its pretty much self explanitory

Virizion:

This guy fills a great niche on this team and i think it is a great add, and the way you have the set up is getting at the right idea but i have a couple of minor critiques, Instead of hasty, go for a jolly nature, you never want to have a nature that lowers a defensive stat, jolly will lower the special attack which virizion has no need for, and secondly you run protect on virizion, which does nothing to help it, i think that you could benefit from a coverage move in that slot such as X-scizor or Stone Edge

Mismagimus:

Leave this thing alone! the way you have it fills the best role that it could on your team
IN SUMMARY:

This team was a really fun rate and it has a lot of unique features to it that seem like they would work well together, I hope some of my suggestions come in handy, let me know how this team goes for you, have fun an catch em all :D

Wow excellent analysis! Just what I was looking for. Yeah the Tyranitar situation I'm in doesn't seem like I'm getting the very best out of him; now with the set(s) you gave me I think I will have a much better all around Poke!
Interesting thoughts on Espeon as well. The only thing I DO like speed investment for is that if I do see a physical Attacker come out.. i.e. Ferrothorn, I know to put up a Reflect. If a Special Attacker comes out.. i.e. Rotom (forms), I know to go with Light Screen first. Thank you though for giving me something to consider!

I know for sure I will switch out Power Whip now for T-Wave/Protect on Ferrothorn, makes much more sense!

Yeah no one ever expects to see a Regice come out lol. Even though its slow as shit, it still packs a good punch as well as tanks ANY non super effective special attack. Now that had me thinking.. If I took your advise and ditched the Toxic for Sleep Talk, then do you think it would be a good idea to take off the Lum and put a Weakness Policy on it? I've noticed the first thing EVERYONE wants to do to this thinG is "ZOMG REG1CE?!?! WTF KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!" so in that case I think I could take that thinking and slap a WP on it =)

Virizion is so under rated this gen, I can easily sweep 1/2 a team+ with her. I usually just use protect to scout and see if I should switch out or not, but I think ill take your advice and smack an X-Scissor on it to deal with them pesky Psychics!

Yeah dude...Mismagius owns. ;) So fast and whoops ass!

Anyway, thanks so much. This is exactly why I joined a forum like this! Have hundreds upon hundreds of posts (elsewhere -.-) and in 2 posts I found what I was looking for!

I'm really glad i can help you bro, yea that weakness policy seems intriguing if nothing else it will surely scare your opponent shitless lol, another thing you could possibly do is give it leftovers aswell, it helps with the tankyness but i would only do that if you test out the weakness policy first and it doesn't work out, but if that weakness policy turns out to be good it may be something i end up using >:D anyway hit me up if you have any more questions and definitely let me know how the changes play out.

Will do my friend, thanks again!
I'm gonna try testing your ideas on showdown before I make any in game changes lol just easier that way, that was I can experiment =)
