This is my team that's served my well over the battles I've faced. However, most of the people I battle have the same technique as me, which is "Beat the crap out of the opponent with the strongest moves possible". This has not really prepared me for people who use strategy. I am about to go into my first competitive battling-level tournament, and I want to see how badly my team will be owned, and what changes I need to make.
NOTE: I do not have PLatinum yet. I will get it sometime in the summer.
TOURNAMENT RULES:
3 Ubers, 3 non-ubers
Only one of each item allowed
It’s not an official tournament, and one which will probably lead to me loosing quickly without a good team.
MY TEAM:
INDIVIDUAL POKEMON:
DEOXYS-A
Nature:Naughty
Item:Focus Sash
HP:251
Atk:415
Def:66
SAtk:399
SDef:94
Spd:337
-Extreme Speed
-Thunder
-Superpower
-Shadow Ball
Used in the beginning, to take down trappers. If a pokemon outspeeds me and would have killed me, the Focus Sash lets Deoxys get off at least one attack. Two, if I used Extremespeed. Replaced Psychic with superpower, because Psychic is super effective to all of 2 types, and Fighting has more than 2. Also, Deoxys’s attack is stronger than his Sp. Attack.
DARKRAI
Nature:Mild
Item:Life Orb
HP:291
Atk:240
Def:213
SAtk:344
SDef:233
Spd:290
-Dark Void
-Dark Pulse
-Focus Blast
-DOuble team
Not much here. Standard Darkrai, more or less. When the opponent is under thanks to Dark Void, Darkrai uses the time to use Double Team, so when the opponent wakes up, Darkrai is more or less unhitable. Dark Void and Focus blast can take care of the Pokemon that use Aura Sphere, which is its main threat.
PALKIA
Nature:Quiet
Item:Lustrous Orb
HP:304
Atk:283
Def:240
Satk:368
SDef:266
Spd:239
-Earth Power
-Aura Sphere
-Surf
-Spacial Rend
Go Palkia! Thanks to Palkia’s great movepool this pokemon can take down nearly any pokemon thanks to the wide variety of moves. The Lustrous Orb boosts the already STABed Surf and Spacial Rend, making them the main moves.
GENGAR
Nature:Naive
Item:Leftovers
HP:259
Atk:157
Def:150
Satk:331
SDef:166
Spd:330
-Thunderbolt
-Shadow ball
-Hypnosis
-Focus Blast
Puts opponent to sleep, then starts whaling on them, free from possible death from the opponent’s attacks on Gengar’s sucky defense.
MAROWAK
Nature:Docile
Item:Thick Club
HP:273
Atk:215
Def:260
Satk:133
SDef:192
Spd:136
-Earthquake
-Double edge
-Swords-dance
-Stone edge
Ah, thick club. With a neat doubled attack, Marowak is the strongest pokemon in my team, and with Swords Dance, there’s not a lot of pokemon that can stand up to a STAB Earthquake. The ones that can are flying, and Stone Edge shows them why that’s a bad idea. Double Edge is in there because it’s a powerful move, and Rock Head removes the recoil.
GALLADE
Nature:Brave
Item:Expert Belt
HP:262
Atk:310
Def:140
Satk:153
SDef:257
Spd:161
-Leaf Blade
-Brick Break
-Swords Dance
-Psycho Cut
This has to be my favorite pokemon, and it totally annihilates most others if it can survive long enough to get a swords dance or two going. Replaced Close Combat with Brick Break thanks to no defense/special defense backlash. Considering replacing Leaf Blade with Night Slash.
Thank you in advance for your support. As I am new to the competitive battle scene, please reccomend pokemon, not just strategies. If I need a mixed wall, for example, please reccommend a mixed wall, not just say "Mixed wall", because I have no idea which pokemon are good for mixed walling.
