Ok guys, here's my pledge team for vgc 2011. The main focus of this team is to get a pledge combo off on my opponent then ... uh ... win I guess :D. I also don't want to go to VGC's with the same generic team as everyone else so I wanted a unique team. It's won a little over half of it's battles on Pokemon Online Battle Simulator, so it's not amazing, but it's not bad either.
Serperior (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 128 Def / 128 SDef / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Grass Pledge
- Leaf Blade
- Aerial Ace
- Mirror Coat
Serperior's purpose on the team is to get off a fire-grass pledge combo (my prefered pledge combo), and act as bait if there's a leading Chandelure on the opposing team. It'll take the Chandelure's fire type move with its focus sash then reflect it back with mirror coat, and due to Serperior's speed he'll probably be able to squeeze in another attack after that.
Emboar (M) @ Fire Gem
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 64 HP / 64 Def / 192 SAtk / 188 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Fire Pledge
- Flamethrower
- Focus Blast
- Scald
The main purpose of Emboar is the fire-grass pledge combo, and a little bit of tanking.
Samurott (M) @ Water Gem
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 128 Def / 252 SAtk / 128 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Water Pledge
- Surf
- Blizzard
- Air Slash
Samurott is usually good at taking out Hydreigons and other dragons as well as a few other threats. He can also pull off a pledge combo if the first pair fails to do so due to a fake out or whatever.
Terrakion @ Expert Belt
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Sacred Sword
- Rock Slide
- X-Scissor
- Aerial Ace
Im not terribly sure about Terrakion. He's just mostly a sweeper, and to be honest he's just there to fill the 4th slot. He does alright on the pokemon online battle simulator, but I feel like I could find a better 4th pokemon for this team.
