ORAS OU Rate My Rain Team Please

Hello, I am Thanos VGC and thank you for looking at my team.

I peaked at a rating of about 1630 last week after about a year Hiatus. I am just getting back into Showdown and want some help with my main team.

Team Building Process
186.png
260.png

So this was the start. I knew i wanted Mega Swampert for the team at the beginning and wanted Politoed for the rain setup.
485.png

Next was Heatran for the switch into special attackers and to counter Scizor and Ferrothorn.
663MS.png

Talonflame was added for a Mega Venusaur counter.
598.png

Ferrothorn is to setup rocks.
230.png

And Kingdra for a fast special sweeper.

politoed.gif

Politoed (M) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Encore
- Toxic

Politoed was a must for the team. Scald is there to burn physical sweepers like Azumarill and Scizor. Toxic Help break down sturdy walls such as Rotom-wash. Encore locks in set-up sweepers into their setup move and allows swampert to mega evolve freely if they dont switch out immediately. Ice beam is there for Dragonite and other flying types.

swampert-mega.gif

Swampert-Mega (M) @ Swampertite
Ability: Damp
EVs: 228 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD / 20 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ice Punch
- Superpower
- Earthquake
- Waterfall

Mega Swampert is the main physical sweeper. Ice punch is to hit Dragonite for lethal after SR. Superpower allows me to hit Normal types, Mega Gyarados and Ferrothorn for super effective damage.
Waterfall and Earthquake for STAB damage.

kingdra.gif

Kingdra (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Signal Beam

Kingdra is my main special sweeper. Draco Meteor and Hydro Pump for STAB damage. Ice beam for Flying and Grass types. Signal Beam is a jab at myself for flailing every time i see a Celebi.

heatran.gif

Heatran (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon

Heatran is my main special wall. Lava Plume for burning switch-ins. Toxic for wall breaking. Earth Power for other fire types. And Flash Cannon for Mega Diancie and other fairy types.
talonflame.gif

Talonflame (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Steel Wing

Talonflame is my main lead and Mega Venusaur killer. Brave Bird has a 50% chance to OHKO Mega Venusaur after SR. Flare Blitz for coverage. U-turn for scouting. Steel wing for the garunteed OHKO on Mega Diancie unless fully physically defensive.

ferrothorn.gif

Ferrothorn (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed

Ferrothorn is my SR setter. Leech seed to stall. Gyro ball to hit fast pokemon and fairy types. Power whip to hit Gastrodon and Swampert.

If you have any questions for me or for my team, ill try to respond to all comments.
Thanks

Ehy. This makeup team looks cool but I have a few suggestions that I think can improve it.
Honestly the team is pretty standard but I think that has problem against Stall Team and in general Rotom is annoying for this build.

Swampert I think it's a really cool choice because it's largely not considered by teambuilders so some teams can be pretty weak to it. That said your EV spread don't allows to outspeed common Choice Scarf pokemon such as Kyurem-Black, Landorus-T and Jirachi that is bad. I would recommend dumping all your HP EVs into Speed to get the jump on fast pokemon such as these Choice Scarfers as well as rarer threats like Mega Sceptile. Superpower is nice, but if that move is mostly for Ferrothorn you could try Low Kick. Outside of that Heatran + Talonflame isn't a good choice, the main role in this team of this pokemon is to give you a good check to Serperior, but two fire type are useless, also in a Rain Team you can't stall (with Heatran for example) because you haven't a infinity turn to sweep. Also Band Talonflame isn't a good choice in this metagame, because things like Rocky Helmet Garchomp and Landorus-T are really common. Honestly my suggest is to try Latias > Heatran because outside to help against Venusaur and gives you a switch in to Rotom gives you a Healing Wish Support that gives you a second opportunity to sweep. Another suggest is to use LO Tornadus-T > Talonflame Tornadus gives you a good help against Stall Team, and with Taunt help to Break defensive things that stop this build. Also your EVs spread on Ferrothon isn't really efficient: Ferrothorn need 168 EVs on SpD to survive a +3 Manaphy Ice Beam's. Signal Beam is useless on Kingdra, my opinion is that Ice Beam is a good move because helps you to hit things like Altaria or things like Tangrowth and Anoongus that commonly stop it, but with life Orb I think that a mixed set is more efficient with move like Waterfall that helps to break Chansey.
Hope I help :3

Hi Thanos214 . This is a nice Rain Team you have here, although there are some flaws which I will try to correct.
swampert-mega.png

First off, I would like to let you know that Mega Swampert's EV Spread isn't very good. A Defensive Approach isn't good when Mega Swampert is not very fast to begin with. Because of this, I suggest you change Mega Swampert's EV Spread to Max Attack and Speed to help it outspeed Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian and KO it with a -1 Waterfall in Rain. In OU Mega Swampert isn't usually fitted for a defensive approach, so it is better to run Max Attack and Speed to help it hit as hard and as quickly as possible, to take advantage of the rain and beat Lando-T, Kube, Rachi and Dragonite 1-on-1.
tornadus-therian.gif

Talonflame is completely useless on this team because Heatran already counters Mega-Venusaur, and the Rain weakens the power of Flare Blitz. Tornadus-Therian, however, can take advantage of Rain to use Hurricane without fear of hax and take care of Grass types- such as Mega Venusaur- rather well, while Tornadus-Therian is still bulkier than Talon and can stomach a Sludge Bomb. Talonflame < Torn-T because of these reasons.
latias.gif

After reading through this, I see that _Astral_ has already mentioned everything I was about to say. However, I think that you should replace Ferrothorn < Latias because Heatran with an Air Balloon can break through Mega Diancie better, as it is immune to Earth Power. Latias also takes care of Mega Venusaur too.
