All right, I'm back after I think 3 months of no RMT. I DID make quite a few edits to that team, if you remember it. But since I'm too stingy to change that team more, I made an entirely new OU team based off of a bit of prior experience, and looking off of the OU team building thread! Seems like its gonna suck, right? Yeah, probably does, and which is why I'm here. Please tell me all that's good about this team, and all that makes you wanna watch the movie Foodfight! 80 times straight. Let us begin!
Smash 4 (Greninja) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
Alriiiiight, the prototypical special sweeper, who should I use.... Oh I know! Greninja. Cause- it's cause he's great. Greninja is such a useful Pokemon for any team, since it can be a special sweeper, revenge killer due to its RIDICULOUS speed and ability, or a late-game cleanup! I use Hydro Pump over Surf, because the "Power Decrease of 2013" says power over accuracy compared to the lower power moves. Dark Pulse is also a great move, and you know its gonna be a good game when you lead with Greninja (which is what I do about 90% of the time) and get that rewarding flinch. Ice Beam, is fantastic on Greninja, because this freaking frog can OHKO Multiscale Dragonite! Just look!
252 SpA Life Orb Protean Greninja Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Dragonite: 328-385 (101.2 - 118.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Hidden Power Grass could be a questionable last move, especially due to that "Power Decrease of 2013" but dat coverage. Greninja can 2HKO Azumarill with HP Grass quite easily. (Unless you have the dreaded misfortune to see a SAP SIPPER Azumarill, like I did on my first battle with this team.)
Again, Smash 4 (Charizard) (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Roost
You see a Charizard in team preview. "Oh jeez, which Mega is it?" you probably DON'T think because 7 times out of 10 it's Mega Char Z. And It's for a good reason. Mega Char Z has what probably everyone wanted on Charizard as a kid; Dragon typing. Charizard got Dragon moves, which obviously is gonna help Mega Char Z. The Dragon Dance set is really useful, especially when you are able to get a free move by putting Mega Char Z in on a Pokemon who has to switch on Mega Char Z, like Breloom, (even though I might not switch cause my Breloom has Rock Tomb, hehehe.) Scizor, Ferrothorn, and even Kyreum-B. Mega Char Z basically outspeeds everything after a D-Dance and get get of MASSIVE DAMAGE. Flare Blitz is for teams that have Faries, and Outrage is more useful for teams without Faries, or better, Azumarill. Roost is self-explanatory. Moving on.....
Axem Redd (Latias) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Healing Wish
- Psyshock
- Defog
The Poke-Boost Pokemon of Gen 6, Latias has that fantastic move Defog. Axem Redd fits in perfectly helping Charizard, and one other guy that your gonna see later in the RMT from getting their health's halved. Healing Wish is a great last ditch move, and is really nice since Latias has nice 110 Speed on it, helping fulfill the hazard-removing and support role Latias is supposed to serve. Draco Meteor has NICE damage, providing OHKOs to Mega Char Z, Garchomp and Mega Garchomp.
Call me KNUCKLES (Gliscor) (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 184 Def / 252 HP / 72 Spd
Impish Nature
- Protect
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Earthquake
I always saw these stupid things back in Gen 5 OU. They kinda went down, didn't they. Also, am I crazy, but does Gliscor die to EVERY ICE ATTACK EVER? Anyway, your supposed to give negative, not me. Gliscor is a great physical wall, with access to Poison Heal, making it have the ability to last forever. He walls out all physical hits that aren't Ice, (coughweavilecough) then can recover it back and deal it out. I'm not certain if Gliscor was the best physical wall for this team, but that's why I'm here.
The New Star (Talonflame) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- U-turn
Sigh...... It pains me to use Talonflame over Starpator, VERY MUCH, but with Talonflame, you do get that priority Brave Bird. Then again, Scarf Raptor can basically outspeed everything anyway, and hit harder. But we aren't talking about Staraptor! God, stop! Talonflame IS a pretty good Pokemon though, and can deal out some MASSIVE damage to virtually all Pokemon with Brave Bird, OR Flare Blitz. U-turn is for chip damage on the escape. Roost is not used that much, but can be useful when I know I can force a switch on the opponent.
Newt (Gengar) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
Ah, Ze final member, one the original special attackers. Gengar was placed for dealing with any pesky Faries that could rear their ugly, mainly blue heads onto Mega Char Z and Axem Redd. Gengar can be a useful revenge killer, as well, and is a fantastic coverage 'Mon, with access to so many great moves. But I do have a suggestion for myself for a good team switch. It may work to switch Mega Char Z for Volcarona, and Newt for Mega Venusaur. The problem is there, if I try this, the team becomes over-cluttered with special attackers. I would like to see your suggestions for this problem, and all aspects of the team.
Well there you go. The team that I built in a few minutes looking of an OU building thread. I want suggestions to make this team better so I can be able to run 2 good OU teams on the ladder. Thanks for reading, and don't be a jerk.
