ORAS UU Rate my Slowking+Dragalge Trick Room Team

I built this team round a core I came across on: TR offensive Slowking, and LO Dragalge.

Slowking @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Psyshock
- Scald
- Nasty Plot
- Trick Room

Trick Room obviously, psyshock and scald for STAB, and nasty plot for setting up. I always set up Trick Room first, then see if.i should switch, set up, or attack, based on the match up. It's bulk allows it to tank even super effective hits, and is able to hit back first in TR. Regenerator is great for switching out of unfavourable match ups. Colour berry is there to lessen the damage of knock off.

Dragalge @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 208 HP / 248 SpA / 52 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Wave
- Dragon Tail
- Toxic Spikes

Draco Meteor and Dragon Tail are STAB, but d-tai is great if I've already set up t-spikes. Sludge wave is ape good STAB, bye bye fairies. It's mediocre speed means it will be great to send out under TR.

They cover each other's weaknesses pretty well. Dragalge resists Slowking's grass and electric weaknesses, and slowking resists dragalge's psychic and ice weaknesses. Dragalge, is a very powerful dragon type, but it has mediocre bulk and speed. That's why I liked the idea of sending it in under a trick room. It can also set up t-spikes, which are good for when i send in slowking, as it's bulk can be good for stalling a bit longer to get max poison damage. It also has nasty plot, because its bulk allows it to tank a lot of hits, so it can set up.

When thinking of team members, I always go to their smogon page to see what it says, and it seemed like Entei was the first one that popped up.

Entei @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Stone Edge

It makes a fire water core with Slowking and is able to demolish steeltypes and special walls with it's STABS. Sacred Fire and Flare Blitz are both there, one for more power but recoil, and the other for less power but no recoil. Extreme speed is great for sweeping, and stone edge for coverage.
Entei patches up Dragalge's ice weaknesses, and almost always out speeds Mence, and is able to kill it with stone edge. I also liked it because it is able to clean up late game with its high speed/extreme speed, after the damage that Slowking and Dragalge will have made.

Next, I tried to think of a slow mega that i could use that would abuse Trick Room some more. At first, I picked Ampharos, but instead I picked M-Abomasnow, because it completes the Fire-water-grass core, and it's just a really powerful mon, but it's also really slow. It has decent bulk, but it's awful typing just ruins it. That's the other reason why I picked it, the other three mon on my team resist fire. (After I picked abomasnow, I almost switched entei for chandelier because of flash fire. )

Abomasnow @ Abomasite
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 68 HP / 52 Def / 252 SpA / 136 SpD
Modest Nature
- Blizzard
- Giga Drain
- Ice Shard
- Focus Blast

M-Abomasnow has a disgusting speed stat, which is exactly why I picked it. Blizzard and giga drain take huge chunks out of any wall, and ice shard is a great priority move. Focus blast is coverage for steel types. I'm not really sure what ev spread to use; they dont have a TR spread for it on smogon.
It covers Slowking's grass and electric weakness. It's good for mid game, because it has hail on top of toxic spikes, leading to a lot of additional damage, leaving the finishing to entei.

Next thing I noticed, was Dragalge's Psychic weakness wasnt covered, so I put in Krookodile. It also works well with entei, beacause they cover each other's weaknesses.

Krookodile @ Dread Plate
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Taunt
- Pursuit

It can pursuit trap pesky psychics and knock off the bulky ones. Taunt is also good, I use it for a lead if i see a Forretress. Earthquake is a solid STAB move. Krookodile is prety fast, so I send him in when TR is down. Because steel types hardly get dented by my Slowking Dragalge core, I've made a huge effort to get more steel checks, and Krook's earthquake is awesome.

Lastly, I decided to bring in a physical attacker. Machamp was good, as it appreciates pursuit from Krook, to get rid of psychic types, and it breaks down special walls that dragalge can't do anything to.

Machamp @ Assault Vest
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dynamic Punch
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
- Bullet Punch

I almost always start off with dynamic punch, beacause it has a high chance of giving me a free switch in to a better match up, knock off for walls or eviolite users (DOUBLADE) bullet punch for priority and fairy types, and stone edge for pesky birds. It's another great late game sweeper due to its great move pool and power, especially under trick room. I also needed machamp because I wanted to balance my physical and special attackers.

I've been hovering around 1250's with this team, and I'm sure it can do better. I was thinking maybe add an offensive trick room setter, as I only have one. Any suggestions for spreads, members who you think are better, etc. are warmly welcomed. Also, I'm not really sure where to find the proper ev spreads under trick room, so if someone could provide with those that would be great

Hi there, unfortunately I'll have to lock this as some of your descriptions are rather lacking and not up to the standard required by the RMT rules. You need to provide in-depth descriptions for each Pokemon to explain your choices and their roles. Please read the rules carefully and take a look at other RMTs and the RMT archive to see the kind of detail and format we require before posting a thread here. PM me with updated descriptions once you review the rules and I'll reopen this.

Edit: Reopened

Hey superninjadillo, Trick Room is sadly not as effective as people may want it to be, but I personally love Trick Room teams (even semi-TR) since they can flip offensive teams on their heads. Anyways, onto the rate.
  • First off, Black Sludge > Life Orb on Dragalge is a nice option so it can tank hits like it should while also continuing to pressure the team (even without Trick Room) thanks to Toxic Spikes. Adapatability already allows Dragalge's STABs to hit very hard anyways. Another option, if you don't care for the Toxic Spikes support, is Choice Specs > Life Orb, Dragon Pulse > Dragon Tail, and Focus Blast > Toxic Spikes.
  • The EVs for Abomasnow need to just be 168 HP / 88 Atk / 252 SpA w/ a Mild nature as this gives Abomasnow an uneven number for Stealth Rock damage while maxing out its Special Attack and the rest being dumped into Attack.
  • I would go with Stealth Rock > Taunt on Krookodile as a way to hit those that avoid Toxic Spikes by virtue or their typing (Poison- and Flying-types) as well as mons with Levitate such as Hydreigon. Taunt is a really solid option as well and can be used over Pursuit, but Pursuit helps trap Psychics better.
Other than that, this is a really cool looking team. I love how it doesn't really rely on Trick Room, but just appreciates its support (sort of how like Sticky Web teams should work, but I digress). Hope you enjoy the rate :)

Thanks a lot, im going to try everything you've suggested. Except I think I'd like to keep toxic spikes on dragalge. However, if it isnt working out, ill try choice specs.

Okay so, what I see that your team has three Pokemon that loves to be under Trick Room, one Pokemon that is a tank, while the other two are fast Pokemon with a lot of raw power. What does not seem right is that the two fast Pokemon would not appreciate Trick Room, since they would be outsped by a good portion of the meta. You also seem to be lacking Stealth Rock, which is a great move to pressure opponent with hazards. Furthermore, you say it is a Trick Room team, but only have one Trick Room setter, making Mega Abomasnow and Dragalge have fewer opportunities to sweep the opponent.
  • The ideal option is to use Bronzong over Krookodile, which can setup Trick Room, Stealth Rock, as well as use Explosion so that no turns are wasted for Trick Room, while giving a free switchin to Dragalge and Abomasnow.
  • Now changing Krookodile gave you a big weakness to bulky Psychic-type Pokemon, especially Reuniclus and Cresselia. I really don't feel like Machamp should be on this team, especially because it cannot mitigate the Fairy-type weakness as Bullet Punch is a weak Priority move. Also, you could use another Pokemon that would love to be under Trick Room. Therefore, using a Pangoro over Machamp will fulfill all those demands. Knock Off will KO Reuniclus from full, while do massive damage to Cresselia and Doublade. Gunk Shot KOs Florges while Drain Punch can heal you up from prior damage, while Parting Shot gives you a safe switch-in against many threats.
  • Now it seems that Pokemon such as Hydreigon, Salamence, as well as Fighting-types are really annoying for your team, and your team could benefit by having another Trick Room Pokemon. Therefore, having an Aromatisse over Entei is a good idea, since that gives you a nice glue, as well as Wish support and ability to check those aforementioned Pokemon.
  • Finally, I'm going to agree with NV and run Choice Specs Dragalge with Focus Blast. Also make sure to keep 0 Speed IVs on your Pokemon.
