Introduction
I'll preface the team with my concept and problems I face. NU is full of Pokemon that either setup, or Wall and I feel drawn to both aspects of the Meta. The team is relatively simple, with two special walls, two physical walls along with one physical and special setup Pokemon. The Defensive "core" has Wish passing, status clearing, two Knock Off users, two entry Hazards and a Spin Blocker, which I feel covers problems most bases, bar being Taunt bait, which is the fall of the core. More specific problems are fast electric Pokemon like Electrivire, which outspeeds +0 Vivillon and Feraligatr to OHKO with Wild Charge, while making short work of Audino. Leech Seed Serperior is another terror, which which proper Cleric and Spin support will ruin my team if Vivillon is dead. If Stealth Rock goes down it also is a big problem, with Vivillon having a x4 weakness and my team not having a Spinner. Due to all of the above, I am seriously considering Sandslash at the moment and if anyone can think of a good switch while keeping most of what I have intact I would appreciate that.
Team
Mothra (Vivillon) @ Life Orb
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Hurricane
- Quiver Dance
- Sleep Powder
Vivillon is by far my favorite setup sweeper in the tier, with Sleep Powder at 98% accuracy I have yet to miss (I've totally jinxed it), and Quiver Dance sweep happens to be brutal, late into games, I often force a Switch then Sleep to force another, which allows me to ruin what is left in the game at +2 speed and special attack. The key weakness is Stealth Rock, which gives Vivillon very little time to sweep considering it also has residual Life Orb damage to take into account. I feel the success I have is mainly due to the lack of Priority moves in NU.
Nurse Killjoy (Audino) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Heal Bell
- Knock Off
- Protect
- Wish
Audino lives up to its name as Nurse Killjoy, the cleric support she provides is key for extending games, while Knock-Off is important for stopping the opponent from doing the same, I find Wish Passing extremely useful for helping out Vivillon if entry hazards stick, while Protect keeps the stall running. I've chosen Audino over Lickilicky because although not having Dragon Tail is unfortunate against Taunt uses, Regenerator is too good to pass on.
108 Spirits but a (Spiritomb) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Foul Play
- Pain Split
- Sucker Punch
- Will-O-Wisp
Spiritomb sets often run rest-talk, however I feel as if I get more by avoiding that. My team already has two pokemon that suffer by by being phased, either by forced switches or defog. I also really don't like being locked into a random move. Foul Play and Sucker Punch enable Spiritomb to KO the vast majority of Pokemon that have setup against my team, while WoW and Pain Split are able to catch them out before they setup.
420 (Weezing) (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Pain Split
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic Spikes
- Will-O-Wisp
What makes Weezing stand out and makes me use her with a Spiritomb also in the team, is her access to Toxic Spikes, which makes stalling enemy teams out an ease. Sludge Bomb stops Weezing being complete Taunt bait and can hit suprisingly hard, while WoW and Pain Split are essential to cripple and stall physical attackers. I have considered Toxic Spikes vs Haze over quite a few battles and I find Hazing instead of using another pokemon to kill them limited in use.
Interior (Feraligatr) @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Return
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
Feraligatr works extremely well by being brought in after Memento, or on the many walls you see in this tier. Swords Dance is my favored setup move, because I feel Feraligatr doesn't hit enough speed to handle many revenge killers after one DD, where a +2 Aqua Jet can deal with them better, with +2 Return and Waterfall doing a better job of killing walls. The reason for Life Orb over Mystic Water is the spike in damage and not having to worry as much when setting up with memento and entry hazard support.
Pix (Uxie) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 216 SpD / 40 Spe
Calm Nature
- Knock Off
- Memento
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave
I use Uxie as my lead the vast majority of the time, with its impressive defensive stats I am often able to get Stealth Rock, T-wave and a couple of Knock Offs before inevitably using Memento. With Uxie most of the time, I'll be able to force a switch out, which leads to Memento being saved until the middle of a battle, enabling Feralifatr to setup. Uxie has good synergy with Weezing, due to Weezing being able to threaten common Knock Off users with wow and resisting problematic bug-type Pokemon.
Conclusion
As far as ladder results go, I honestly don't play tonnes of ladder games, I face friends quite a lot.
Thank you very much for reading what I have to say and I'll happily answer further questions below.
