Hippowdon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/192 Def/66 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
- Superpower
Hippowodon is an incredibly bulky Pokemon. He puts down Stealth Rock and activates Sand Stream, this stops Focus Sash users and ruins a lot of Pokemon.
Ex, Life Orb Salamance takes 25% + 6% when he switches in and the turn ends, then next turn he takes another 16% damage. This leaves him at 53% max!
Slack off is a great recovery move, its instant with no side effects. Earthquake is there as Hippo’s main attack and Super Power is mainly a filler. Any dragon that comes in now takes 25% from Stealth Rock and so ice fang is not needed. (Although Kingdra can cause problems) however I am considering Stone Edge for Zapdos who otherwise causes a big problem.
The Evs provided are great for defence, the HP makes him more bulky and the defence Evs as well mean that bar Explosion, Self Destruct and Critical Hits, no physical move can OHKO him. I felt that the attack Evs were not needed as Hippo isn’t going to be mainly attacking, more wearing down the opponent, so I took the attack Evs and put them into special defence to make him bulkier.

Rotom-w @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Evs: 252 HP/138 Def/120 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hydro Pump
- Toxic
Rotom-W is my favorite of the new Rotom Forms. All of the Rotom’s have incredible typing just 2 Weakness’s and plenty of resistance’s.
Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball and Hydro Pump hit most things hard. Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball are reliable STABs, sadly Rotom-W like all Rotom Forms is stuck against Blissey. Toxic is there to deal with any flying types or Pokemon with levitate who are immune to Toxic Spikes.
The Evs provided according to X-Act’s defensive EV calculator provides the best defensive spread and helps Rotom stay alive longer. Sadly Rotom has no defensive outside of Rest so he relies on…

Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Evs: 236 HP/216 Def/58 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Baton Pass
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf
My team’s wish passer. Wish and Protect / Wish and Baton Pass make him a great Baton Passer. He can either take a hit and then Baton Pass the Wish to another Pokemon if its low on health or he can Wish and then switch in. Either way, once he has wished, there is not much you can do to prevent something else coming in with high HP and scaring you off.
The Evs provided make Vaporeon a very bulky Pokemon with its high HP and great ability making it easy for him to switch in and heal the rest of the team.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Heatproof
Evs: 252 HP/88 Def/170 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Toxic
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Reflect
‘Zong has great defensive typing giving him just one weakness and plenty of immunities. I chose Heatproof over Levitate because it helps him switch into Timid Heatran’s Fire Blast and KO with Earthquake.
Toxic is there because to deal with the Pokemon that are immune to Toxic Spikes. Those which are immune to Toxic Spikes that are not flying types or Pokemon with levitate are weak to Earthquake (except Skarmory, Bronzong and the Zubat Evolutionary line) Reflect is there too boost my team’s defence, who are generally weaker on the defensive side…
The Evs provided make Zong much more bulky, and helps him take hits better.

Roserade (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/6 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Aromatherapy
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Roserade helps me set up Toxic Spikes. He has good Special Defence and so can take hits while setting up Toxic Spikes. He is also my aromatherapist which is helpful if something like Vaporeon gets poisoned. Leaf Storm is my main attack and I chose Hidden Power [Fire] because it does more damage in the standard metagame when combined with Leaf Storm than Hidden Power [Ice]
I might change this to Tenta, As its bulkier with Rapid Spin + Knock Off.

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP/78 Atk/100 Def/176 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Taunt
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake / Stone Edge
Bulky Gyra, He is my bulky Pokemon who can fight back. Taunt really screws up Skarmory and Bronzong who are both immune to Toxic Spikes and Earthquake.
Dragon Dance with the given Evs reaches 362 speed outrunning +Speed base 115s and below. Waterfall is a KO on some of the weaker fast threats such as Gengar and Azelf. Earthquake will hit any Pokemon that is immune to Toxic Spikes super effective (Except Skarm, ‘Zong and Crobat) However I may choose Stone Edge to deal with Zapdos who otherwise is a big problem.
I'm considering changing him to Tyraniboah or a Jolly Dragon Dance Tyranitar, Opinion on this?
Threat List:
Tyranitar - Hippowdon can come in to it with ease and threaten it with Earthquake
Gyarados - Does not walk out alive from Rotom-W, Sets without Taunt can also be toxic stalled by Vaporeon
Infernape - Again he cannot do very much to Rotom-W who can hurt it badly with Hydro Pump. Bronzong can come in on resisted moves, take a Fire Blast thanks to Heatwave and KO with Earthquake.
Azelf - Without Thunderbolt Gyra can come in DD and then KO with Waterfall. Rotom-W can also come in on most of its attacks and threaten it with Shadow Ball. Bronzong can threaten it with Gyro Ball.
Rhyperior - Rotom-W can come in without much danger especially as its immune to earthquake. Otherwise Hippowdon can come in on most of its attacks and hurt it with Earthquake. Roserade can’t switch in directly but it can KO it with ease using Leaf Storm.
Electivire - Rotom-W is immune to Cross Chop and Earthquake and resists Electric. He can just keep hitting it with Shadow Ball until it dies. Otherwise Zong can come in and use Earthquake on him.
Heracross - Not that much, I can take hits but I can’t scare it out easily.
Salamance - Hippowdon takes Physical hits like a man / Captain Falcon. Bronzong can come in when its locked into Outrage. Rotom-W can come in on Earthquake and hit it with Thunderbolt. Vaporeon takes on any special versions.
Togekiss - Rotom-W resists Air Slash and is immune to Aura Sphere and can hit it back with Thunderbolt. Vaporeon can also Toxic Stall it.
Gengar - Not much can threaten it. If I suspect it’s a trick Gengar I can switch in to it using Trick with Rotom-W and revenge KO with Shadow Ball.
Lucario - Rotom-W is immune to Close Combat and Extremespeed, Gyarados is also a good Luc counter without thunder punch.
Starmie - I don’t see too many of these now. However Vaporeon can Toxic Stall it and Rotom-W can come in with little threat.
Weavile - Zong can come in on any CB Weavile and hit it back with Gyro Ball. Gyarados is also a threat to it, especially if its carrying Stone Edge.
Machamp - Hippowdon can stall it out, Slacking off then hitting it with Earthquake. Rotom-W is immune to Dynamic Punch and so can’t be hurt by confusion.
Aerodactyal - This is only ever seen as a lead, not much I can do to stop it setting up Stealth Rock.
Zapdos - Ok this thing is a big threat, I can wear it down with Toxic but that’s pretty much all.
Suicine - Toxic Spikes will force it to rest earlier than it will have liked, I can then send in Rotom-W and thunderbolt it.
Breloom - If something else is asleep it cannot really hurt Bronzong or Rotom-W, sadly I can’t hurt it that much back.
Metagross - CB Metagross will do damage, however almost all of its moves are counterable by Hippowdon and Rotom-W.
Heatran - In comes Vaporeon or Gyarados.
And that’s it, if anyone can see any major weak points then please point them out to me. Otherwise I hope this team is fine. Its won me 7 out of the 8 battles I’ve done today with this team.
