ORAS OU Rate My Team #3: Stall/Wall. I'd Appreciate Some Feedback!

Introduction:

Hey, guys! This is my third rate my team. I wanted to start over with a team using a couple I liked from a previous team. This team hasn't undergone much testing in Showdown, but I would like to get some feedback from it here nevertheless. I'd appreciate your feedback!

Team Breakdown:

Sableye (M) @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp
- Knock Off
- Foul Play

This is the mega of the team, one of the best stalls and walls in the game: Mega Sableye. This is usually my lead, unless I heavily suspect a fairy or stallbreaker lead. One of my priorities, especially if the enemy team has a lot of possible hazard setters, is to get this thing mega evolved ASAP so they can't set them up. It's your classic Mega Sableye set: Recover for healing, Will-O-Wisp to cripple physical attackers or anyone that isn't affected by Toxic, Knock Off to get rid of items, and Foul Play for damage after Knock off has been used. I chose to go with Special Defense on this because Will-O-Wisp already halves the attack of most physical attackers.

Hippowdon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Slack Off
- Earthquake

This is my rocks setter/physical wall. I send Hippowdown in on most physical attackers and whenever I see a safe switch in for rocks. Toxic is for the DOT against anyone that can't remove status conditions or is affected by it (my preferred status other than Will-O-Wisp if I can stall them out long enough to kill). Slack Off is for recovery, and EQ is for damage. The EV spread is for maximum physical bulk.

clefable.gif

Clefable (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 120 Def / 132 SpD / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Aromatherapy
- Moonlight
- Moonblast

Clefable is one of my favorite OU Pokemon. With two great abilities, Magic Guard and Unaware, this baby is really useful on any wall and stall team. With Unaware, it serves as my counter to just about anything that will set up with SD or DD (aside from Bisharp) and once its threats are out of the way, can sweep with some CMs and Moonblasts. Aromatherapy is for removing status conditions for the team and Moonlight for the much-needed recovery, since this Pokemon will be taking some hits. The EV spread is for overall bulk.

empoleon.gif

Empoleon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Defog
- Roar
- Flash Cannon
- Scald

Ah, Empoleon. In my opinion this is Pokemon is really underrated. Empoleon's main role is to serve as my Fairy check and hazard remover. It also is used to get rid of any Pokemon in battle, with Roar, that may be causing me trouble, or if I suspect a Baton Pass. I'm thinking about putting Toxic in somewhere for more DOT damage that Hippowdown can't safely get on anyone, but I'm not sure what I would remove. EV spread is for maximum special bulk, since most of my Fairy problems are specially offensive.

talonflame.gif

Talonflame (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 192 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 60 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Roost
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Brave Bird

I know Talonflame is one of the most overused Pokemon in OU, but I can't resist using it for this team. It's an excellent wallbreaker and staller with Taunt/Roost/Will-O-Wisp, and this is one of the more underused sets, which will catch the opponent off guard when I predict the switch to a wall/staller and Taunt. Brave Bird is obviously for the priority damage. The EV spread is for maximum attack and some bulk and speed.

mew.gif

Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 104 Def / 152 Spe
Impish Nature
- Soft-Boiled
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Knock Off

Lastly, Mew. Mew is another reliable staller and wallbreaker that I use when it's too risky to send Talon in. It's an overall great mon for this reason. Pretty standard set: Soft-Boiled for recovery, Will-O-Wisp for physical attackers and DOT, Taunt for stallers, and Knock Off to remove items or if I get Taunted. I've been toying around with the EVs, but for now, I have Smogon's Mew EV spread.

Thanks for taking the time to go through my team! I'd appreciate it if you help me out by leaving your opinions and feedback! Until next time!

A few comments on the sets and spreads you're running :

I would run a spread of 252 HP / 136 Def / 124 SpD with a Careful nature on Mega Sableye. Since most rock setters are physical attackers, you want to be able to take their hits better, and a more physically defensive spread enables you to do this. The only think SpD really does for MSableye is enable it to deal with Offensive Heatran and Gengar, and you do this with 124 SpD. The added physical defense enables you to take on Pokemon like Landorus-T and Garchomp better so I think it's definitely worth it.

Also, run Toxic over Flash Cannon on Empoleon. Flash Cannon doesn't really do much for Empoleon : yes, it hits Fairies, but most fairies (such as Azumarill) are crippled more by Toxic than Flash Cannon. Though it does hit Gardevoir, Diancie, and Clefable, Empoleon isn't your anwser to these Pokemon, Talonflame is (or in Diancie's case, Clefable)

Maybe it would be a good idea to run Stone Edge over Toxic on Hippowdon since that enables you to beat Taunt+SD Talonflame as well as Mega-Pinsir, and deal with Thundurus much better. However, both of these are uncommon and Toxic provides great utility, so I'm not too sure about this.

Just a tiny nitpick but the Clefable spread isn't optimal. A spread of 248 HP / 208 Def / 44 SpD / 8 Spe with a Calm nature has the same special bulk for one more defense point, while a spread of 248 HP / 204 Def / 48 SpD / 8 Spe with a Calm nature has just as much defense for one more SpD point. However, I would recommend a spread of 248 HP / 164 Def / 88 SpD / 8 Spe with a Calm nature, this enables you to take 2 Moonblasts from +SpA Mega-Diancie which Clefable is your main answer to it. Also I would run Wish+Protect on it, you do lose out on a moveslot which is unfortunate but this is necessary so as to not lose to Rain Dance Manaphy.

Run a spread of 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD with a Careful nature on Talonflame. This enables it to switch into Charizard-Y and Landorus-I, both of which are massive threats to your team, much more easily, b. Attack investement doesn't realy do anything on a stallbreaker set so I'm not sure why you're running that.

Mega-Gardevoir pretty much destroys your whole team, you badly need an answer to it. One thing I would suggest is running Jirachi over Empoleon. Jirachi handles Gardevoir very well and is a good fairy killer in general, dealing with Diancie as well. You still need hazard removal, however, so you can run Defog over Taunt on Mew. I don't think you really need a second stallbreaker since you already have Talonflame.

Mega Gyarados is also extremely threatening to your team. Maybe you could try Skarmory over Mew as a Defogger, however Skarmory isn't the best MGyara counter in the world. It does serve as a very good physical wall though and would be a nice addition to your team, I can easily see Hippowdon getting overwhelmed by offensive cores such as Bisharp+Landorus-T so a secondary physical wall wouldn't hurt. And if you're running Jirachi over Empoleon then you become weaker to Azumarill which Skarmory can handle quite well.

So I have been trying out Skarmory over Hippowdown since this post was made. You gave a lot of options, so which 6 Pokemon would you recommend?

Sableye / Hippowdon / Clefable / Jirachi / Talonflame / Skarmory should work. Maybe even try Rhyperior to handle XZard and Talonflame better? though you do lose out on Bisharp so idk.

For a stall team there isn't a point in having a revenge killer. So the stall breaker set is more optimal. Albacore kinda covered all the points that needed to be mentioned and moonlight and calm mind shouldn't be run on the unaware set. Replace it with wish + protect as Albacore said. Rain teams are also a bit problematic so this gives you another reason to use skarmory. Also if you plan to use jirachi instead of empoleon then you could use whirlwind on skarmory.
Hope I helped :)
