Rate my Team - DP OU

Hi, I just recently started playing again (I haven't since NetBattle/ADV days), so I don't really have much experience with DP. I have looked at most of the OU analyses and started battling a bit though. My basic idea was to have Mesprit, Blissey, and Donphan for defense and support, and then the Weavile, Heatran, and Electrivire have big hits to wear out walls. I'm trying to stay with reliable Pokemon for now (even though I much prefer using less standard stuff) so I can get familiar with DP.

Mesprit @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/176 Def/80 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- U-turn

I really like Mesprit, but I can't stand not having a reliable recovery move. I like U-turn because it lets me see who they switch to and makes it easier to get the offensive Pokemon in. I'd like to drop one of the offensive moves for Thunder Wave or Reflect/Light Screen, but I can't really drop one of them without losing the ability to deal with something.

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/244 Def/12 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled

Blissey's boring and I usually don't like using standards but it's a reliable special wall while I get used to the DP metagame. I think Aromatherapy is pretty needed here because I have nothing else to deal with status. Thunder Wave is especially helpful for Heatran to kill stuff before he gets killed.

Donphan (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Rapid Spin

I'm not finding Donphan as durable in DP as he was in ADV, but I needed a spinner and I also felt weak to Tyranitar and Metagross (Mesprit can probably take Metagross's hits but isn't a huge threat to it). Stealth Rock is nice to wear stuff out but I'm thinking I could use Roar or Rest. Lacking a reliable recovery move is annoying here too.

Weavile (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 40 HP/252 Atk/216 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- Brick Break
- Ice Punch
- Ice Shard

He's kind of tricky to get in (although Mesprit's U-turn helps a lot), but I find him very rewarding. I randomly put Ice Shard in after getting killed by a Endure/Flail Kingdra, but now that I think about it that was probably unnecessary and I should have just dealt with it better and sooner (although I don't see anyone else who can deal with it, except maybe Mesprit if I give it Thunder Wave). I wanted a Choice Bander here (along with Heatran w/ Choice Specs) so I could force myself to learn to predict better.

Heatran (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 52 HP/204 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Dragon Pulse
- Overheat
- Hidden Power [Grass]

I've really liked Heatran ever since I started using him. I'm using HP Grass because this team has greater problems with Swampert than with Gyarados (Overheat already does a pretty big dent on Gyarados I think). Overheat has nice damage but it's miss chance along with having to switch out gets annoying.

Electivire (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake

Honestly I just plugged this in here because I didn't really know what else to put... I haven't found him very helpful so far but I'm having trouble figuring out specifically what I could use.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Can you explain why you would? I don't see what good that achieves, while I already rely too much on Mesprit for defense against physical threats like Gyarados, Salamence, and Garchomp.

azelf has much higher sp att and speed, id leave the same moves, but use azelfs higher sp att and speed...but thats just me...

You need a pokemon to lure out Electric attacks for Electivire. If you dont get one of those I suggest dropping Electivire.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Drop your team's Electvire unless your team carry something weak to Electric like Gyarados. Electvire really need to absorb electric to be useful.

He can't use the same moveset if Azelf>Mespirit because Azelf doesn't get Ice Beam. Boah w/ Ice Beam rips you apart too.

If standard SDLuke gets one SD you lose. Weavile locked into Pursuit or Ice shard is just begging to get set up on by him so it isn't that hard. YacheSDChomp rips you apart as well (Blissey being your set up bait).

Like slayer124 said Electivire sucks ass w/o a Motor Drive boost and can be walled even with one.

If you find yourself not Rapid Spinning w/ Donphan alot use Gliscor IMO. It has reliable recovery and is more bulky. Also packs a Fighting resists that your team badly needs.

Clerics are usually unneccessary on non-stall teams as the DP Environment is way too fast paced to waste 2-3 turns just to heal a status. I'd use Ice Beam/Flamethrower>Aromatherapy.

I'd use Fire Blast over Overheat because it does more damage over 2 turns and doesn't force you to switch out after attacking.

Overall your team doesn't have any major threats that aren't choiced. Pick one that you think fits your team (Electivire does not) and use it in the last slot. Threats are outlined in the sticky "How to Keep Our RMT Fire Ablaze". But really most good teams are built around one threat with the other Pokemon designed to support it/kill counters and threats to a sweep.

First off, I'd like it if Stealth Rock found its way onto Mesprit, preferably over Psychic. With this, you can now add Ice Shard over Stealth Rocks on Donphan, which helps you as a back up to kill the Dragons. You can never have too many!! But if you can, Roar here works too.

While you have big special attackers and attackers in Heatran and Weavile, what I'd like is someone speedy in the Electivire spot. I'd probably try like a Scarf Gengar here, who can help prevent a Lucario from sweeping and what not, as it could appear to be troublesome. You could always Scarf Heatran and add another Specs attacker though, such as Salamence, whos resistence and Intimidate can help you out.

I recommend turning Blissey into a wishbliss so your Mesprit and Donphan can wall more reliably. Without some form of immediate recovery, they just can't switch in repeatedly.

Agreeing with MoP about replacing Electrivire with a fast sweeper like Infernape or something.
