Hello, I am new to the forums yet not new to pokemon competitive metagame, been using the pokémon simulator for a while now.
I have my hyper offense OU team to give to yo to criticize, i've got other teams but i'll like to get some feedback on this one.
LEAD, BATON PASSER
I never get any kills :( (Scolipede) @ Leftovers
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Aqua Tail
- Poison Jab
- Baton Pass
The lead, it's main job is to get a speed boost and a swords dance boost and then baton pass it asap. Get a second speed boost if possible.
It generally works but it's pretty damn fragile (at least it's less fragile than Ninjask :O). It can also sweep with +1 spe and +2 atk but it is not his main job. I should give him a focus sash, I think.
Also I like scolipede, even though I am not familiar with it. It's cool and it has decent resists and it has Speed Boost. I am unsure about it's attacks though, maybe I should get Megahorn on it.
TANK/SPECIAL SWEEPER
Dragonslayer (Heatran) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dragon Pulse
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Ancient Power
Only special attacker in the group. Moveset is a bit anti-metagame more than classical:
-Magma Storm can trap, provides strong Fire STAB and residual damage even if resisted
-Dragon Pulse is only to counter dragons. Maybe I should run Hidden Power Ice on it.
-Earth Power is against other heatrans and Fire-types
-Ancient Power is to kill Charizard and Talonflame, and other flying types.
Also I like heatran, mostly because it's made of molten metal and lava, how cool is that ?
It has also plenty of 4x resistances and quite a bit of useful resistances. Air Balloon is to avoid the earthquake 1hko for a while.
BOOSTING SWEEPER/SPECIAL WALL
Manly Fish (Gyarados) (M) @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Moxie
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
Gyarados is one of my main sweepers, if not my main one. Either I go immediately Dragon Dance and mega evolve and promptly attack after that, either I dragon dance without mega evolving and try to kill pokemon and get Moxie boosts in his normal form before mega evolving. It all depends on who I face. It has also nice resists and it can change it's typing during the battle.
Main counters are other gyarados and Mega Venusaur, some fighting types and that damned Mega Manectric. Also, Gyarados has been my favorite pokémon since I bought Gold (a long while ago) and evolved a 'karp in it.
PHYSICAL SWEEPER
Macho Man (Machamp) @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Dynamic Punch
- ThunderPunch
- Bulk Up
Classic No Guard DynamicPunch Machamp, except with Bulk Up for being able to break through bulky counters. Stone Edge is there to abuse No Guard, DynamicPunch is DynamicPunch (confusion is always nice when it gives me a free turn), ThunderPunch is for coverage and trying to kill birds who resist DynamicPunch, and Bulk Up is here to get more power and bulk if I can afford to set up, depending on which pokémon I face.
It does decently. Not my main sweeper so it doesn't get often attack/speed boosts from Scolipede, but it's more of a lategame pokemon which enters the game when the enemy team is damaged (or when I am getting destroyed)
I have not a lot of experience with machamp, and I sometimes feel he doesn't hit as hard as he should. But he is MANLY. Am unsure about the name though, maybe I should name it something like Kenshiro or Raoh.
TANK/BOOSTING SWEEPER
Ice Beam <3 (Dragonite) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Atk / 220 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Outrage
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
Sort of a tank and boosting sweeper. It likes getting ice/rock attacks at full health, get an attack boost, to immediately retaliate with Outrage or ExtremeSpeed. Also the only thing with recovery on my team. Sometimes I stall with it, I admit (don't throw rocks at me). Notably walled by steel and rock types, but I think priority is well worth that and it usually gets attack boosts, so it's less of a problem. I tried Aqua Jet but it was underwhelming to say the least.
Dragonite I chose because it is the dragon I am most familiar with (and the one I prefer despite some older ones looking more badass), and Multiscale is really, really good. This one isn't especially cute, by the way.
PHYSICAL WALL/BOOSTING SWEEPER/RAPID SPINNER (also occasionally leads)
Dentata (Cloyster) @ White Herb
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Shell Smash
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Blast
- Icicle Spear
A standard shell smash cloyster, except it gets Rapid Spin for when my opponent REALLY likes hazards. I am aware I lose some coverage, but generally Cloyster is powerful enough to do it. And i've got plenty of other boosting sweepers on this team.
EV's and item are here to improve survivability because it is still a decent physical wall (it dies horribly to special attacks :P). EV's are here to both survive and revenge kill dragons.
I like cloyster, it has an audacious grin and it just looks spiky. And 180 base defense and getting STAB on Icicle Spear is nice.
And yes, it is a female Cloyster named Dentata. Ahem. I am therefore searching for a better name.
I know I have a lot of physical sweepers and am pretty sensible to Will-o-Wisp. But yet I like my team just like that.
Give ideas, name ideas, move fixes, better EV spreads... i'm all ears.
edit: changed it a bit so the images are less big and the text is more descriptive.
