Team at a glance:

Hello,

Here's the team I'm kicking around on Shoddy for building on WiFi. Right now I've got most of these Pokemon covered, but I'm in need of a better Physical Wall to combo with Snorlax.

What I'm looking for in a physical wall is something that can stand up to Garchomp and/or Gyarados, hopeully without Hidden Power as I'm a terrible Hidden Power breeder.

If I had to choose, I can handle Gyarados, especially as a lead Poke, in a few other places or by adjusting my lead. Garchomp is quickly becoming the deal breaker.

The team is as follows, with some of the general strategy outlined:

180px-Brock_crobat.jpg

Drusilla (Crobat) (F) @ Wide Lens
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 160 HP/216 Spd/132 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Air Slash
- Hypnosis
- Taunt
- U-turn
---
My lead. I've also got on tap Scarf-Venusaur. I like Crobat as it walls Breloom (A pokemon that causes me trouble), it can taunt Bronzong, Hippodown, and Skarmory leads, which also spell trouble, and can fast hypnotize a lot of things that cause it trouble.

Gengar leads are trouble and will force a run to Snorlax.

ScarySheri (Gengar) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 100 Atk/216 Spd/192 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Explosion
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
---
The Blissey Lure. Most folks are forced to go to Blissey if Gengar shows up. If they take any damage on the switch in 100 Atk EV's and Life orb is enough to do 99.7% to the standard Blissey.

If Blissey doesn't come in, 192 SAtk is enough to do a lot of damage to a lot of things.

Cyldragon (Salamence) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Hydro Pump
---
Why a Blissey Lure? For this guy. Once Blissey is off the field Salamence can pick up a few kills by popping in and dropping Meteors. Good follow up to the post Gengar Explosion as you can intimidate the incoming pokemon.

Joey (Lucario) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Extremespeed
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance
---
Sweeper. Pure and simple. Once the chance comes up Joey steps in and Dances, and then you can ExtremeSpeed away. Nothing special or unique here.

Roosevelt (Snorlax) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 128 HP/130 Def/252 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Curse
- Rest
- Crunch
- Body Slam
---
Hey! Its Curselax!

This has actually won me more than a few games. Once you find and kill off Close Combat users on the other team Roosevelt does a good job outstalling other walls and holding off the other threats, special and otherwise.

Make no mistake, Close Combat is a problem, but once its gone, Curselax can close the game.

Insurance (Swampert) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP/216 Def/52 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Roar
---
Standard MixPert, though I have gone Boah in the past with mixed results.

This is where I need help. Currently this is my best answer to most Garchomps and other threats, but I am open to picking up another Wall here. I've considered Slowbro as an option.

Whatever goes in here, it needs to deal with Garchomp.

Well this looks like a pretty balanced team. A couple quick changes. You need 136 Atk Evs to OHKO Blissey with Explosion. Also Adamant is preferred on SD Lucario to break Hippowdon/Skarmory and others which Jolly cannot do. Anything between 279-308 should be able to be KOd by SD Extremespeed besides Salamence maybe.

Your lack of defensive water and dragon resists seems like the biggest problem like you said before.

Well the specific things to look out for are

Offensive Threats:

Garchomp: Any Sub/SD Garchomp can set up on something like Salamence's Flamethrower and sweep away. Swampert is 2HKOd and Yache lets it take an Ice Beam. Scarfchomp actually looks like it would be a bigger problem than SDchomp since it 1-2HKOs everything besides Swampert who can't switch in too many times.

Lucario: Opposing SD Lucario's are also a big problem. With 1 SD it can OHKO everything except Salamence which can't switch in to anything besides SD. Again lack of recovery will eventually lead to an opposing Lucario sweep. SpecLuke is also a problem since you don't have a solid switch in for it either. It 1 or 2HKOs everything here.

Gyarados: Yeah you said you had a Gyara weak already. DDs up and KOs everything.

Deoxys-S: Well if you play shoddy ladder then you will experience Deoxys-S a few times. It outspeeds and 1 or 2HKOs everything here again.

Mamoswine: LO Earthquake will be able to 2HKO Swampert and Snorlax while Ice Shard takes care of everything else besides Lucario.

You are relying too much on Crobat to counter Heracross and other fighters which also carry Stone Edge. CBheracross beats everything here with the right move and without recovery/wish you can't switch in too many times for long.

You are also lacking a good status absorber. Snorlax won't be able to do anything in its sleep and can easily become setup fodder.

Mixed sweepers, especially Infernape and Salamence, pose a threat since they break your defensive pokemon pretty easily then proceed to sweep.

Defensive Threats:

You seem to have problems with BulkyWaters (Suicune, Vaporeon ect) also. The lack of water resist really hurts here and a CM Suicune could easily set up on you.

Anyways now for the fixes. Bronzong (standard) over Swampert helps with Garchomp, Deoxys and Mamoswine. You handle Mixed Tyranitar (ones with Fire Blast) less well but you should be okay with other variants. Keep the team offensive enough and you shouldn't need phazing. Snorlax use Rest/Sleep Talk to make a decent status abosorber. You lose offensive potential, but you don't become setup fodder. Vaporeon with wish/hp electric/ice beam/surf over Crobat would do well. Wish support helps Bronzong and now Salamence can switch into fighting attacks decently. Vaporeon can stall out CMSuicune and you can handle mix sweepers and Gyarados better. You do lose your lead, but Bronzong can be used as your lead now and it will have hypnosis so you don't lose status support.

At first you had alot of weaknesses, but with a few changes you can cover them up well enough so that you have a working team.

Hello,

I was looking at Bronzong.....however the type of Garchomps I'm worried about carry firefang and can OHKO Bronzong :(

He could still work for this team over Swampert so I'll look at that a bit more and try it.

As for the Vaporeon idea, I'm trying to stay away from Hidden Power. I'm a really crappy hidden power breeder and want to eventually get this onto WiFi.
