Starbro (Starmie) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dazzling Gleam
- Scald
- Recover
- Rapid Spin

I started with Starmie as my first Pokemon. It has reliable spin support for Talonflame and can stall out some things with recover. Scald is for burn chance and dazzling gleam for coverage.

BulletSeed (Ferrothorn) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
- Thunder Wave

I chose this Pokemon because it has reliable switch ins to Pokemon that would threaten Starmie. Ferret horn usually goes for StealthRocks or T-Wave after to disrupt the opponents team. Ferret horn can shut down attackers with Rocky Helmet and Barbs. Gyro Ball and Power Whip are for coverage when needed.

Washy (Rotom-Wash) @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hydro Pump
- Rest

I chose Rotom-W because of its excellent typing and ability to burn. I went for the bulkier set because it fit well in my team which is pretty defensive. His role is to switch in to something he can handle and burn or stall out with rest. Rest and Chesto Berry combo with Hydro Pump for Damage and Volt Swotch to switch out when things get bad for him.

Flamis (Talonflame)
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Acrobatics
- Taunt
- Roost
- Bulk Up

I chose Talonflame because of its ability and it can set up and taunt things trying to set up. I went for a specially defensive to help my team and Talonflame is a good Pokemon who can set up and use priority acrobatics or roost. No item for acrobatics and knock off users which has helped me before. Bulk up for setting up, acrobatics for priority and damage, taunt for Pokemon setting up, and roost for reliable recovery.

Sonicboom (Latias-Mega) (F) @ Latiasite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Roost
- Reflect Type

I chose the mega to deal with my team weakness. It can out speed and has decent bulk. It has two elemental special attacks to cover any team weaknesses and with a quick reflect type it can mess up the opponent trying to stall. Roost is for realizable recovery after reflect type to stall.

Skissors (Scizor) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Superpower
- X-Scissor

I chose this Pokemon because it only has one weakness, priority, and high damage with coverage. The bulk allows it to take a hit and deal more damage back. It can also knockoff switch ins. Also, with choice band it can deal even more damage. It can bullet punch weakened Pokemon from stalling or use something reliable. It's other moves are mostly to cover up any weaknesses my team has.

Threat list

Mega Sableye
I always struggle with this guy for some reason. Only fairies hit hard which dazzling gleam does nothing to him. He burns my whole team and I can't do enough damage. Everything I have gets bounced back like SR and Taunt. Very bulky things in general stall out my team

Thunderus or B-Kyreum
They out speed and can do a lot of damage to my team in general. I don't have much things to counter them.

Any feedback would be appreciated to improve my team.

Hello AshGoku,

You have a really great team and I've noticed that they cover various role, so well done on that.
I've got a few suggestions that should be able to boost your current team unto the next level. So here goes:

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Flamethrower

Mega Latios and Talonflame form a great core, but I cannot help but think Calm Mind Clefable would be a great addition to the core. With this blubbery fairy type, you be able to stop the likes of Mega Sableye fairly easily. Calm Mind Clefable also functions as a win-condition for you team capable to sweeping through unsuspecting teams. It also functions as a fantastic status absorber, so it's worth considering.

If you add Clefable, you core will be open to Sword Dancing Bisharps and Mega Gyarados. And that's where Keldeo or Chesnaught comes in.

PS: Clefable [alone] stops all your current treats to some extent.

Help this helps :)

yo AshGoku, cool team here. I especially like the use of a FWG core and the inclusion of Mega Latias cuz not many people use it nowadays. Most of my changes are just going to be minor moveset changes because some of your EVs and move choices are a bit strange but I'll go on about that in the rate. There are also quite a few simple things you could add or change to help your team's matchup against the mentioned Pokemon above in your threatlist and I'll point them out later.

  • I agree with you saying that Thundurus has an easy time against your team, and there's no surprise as to why. Starmie lacks the offensive power to do anything to it, and Scizor doesn't want to a) get locked into a move at the wrong time and be exploited and b) get paralysed by Prankster Thunder Wave and / or used as set-up fodder. To handle this problem, you should go for a more offensive set consisting of Life Orb, a spread of 252 SpA | 252 Spe | 4 Def, and a moveset of Scald or Hydro Pump | Ice Beam | Rapid Spin | Recover or Dazzling Gleam or Psychic. If Mega Sableye is a consistent issue, keep Dazzling. If you feel that it isn't, and that you rely on Starmie to deal with Thundurus, keep Recover as the Life Orb recoil will wear it down easily. If none of these are a problem, you can go with Psychic for a secondary STAB move; alternatively, Psyshock can be used to hit Pokemon such as Chansey. Another option is to use Reflect Type, as your team is very vulnerable to Dark spam and a lot of pressure is put onto Scizor to take them out with Superpower, so opting for Reflect Type alleviates the pressure on Scizor and allows Starmie to take on Pokemon like Ttar and Bisharp while also avoiding Pursuit traps. You've got quite a few options here for Starmie so it's up to you to choose which one would be best.

Timid | 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Scald | Ice Beam | Rapid Spin | Psychic
  • Offensive Ferrothorn (Choice Band, to be specific) was a thing back in BW OU, but the set really died down in the XY/ORAS transition and nowadays, it fits well as a defensive Stealth Rock setter and switch-in to a majority of OU's popular mons, such as Latios, Calm Mind Clefable, Lando-T, and Mega Diancie. Therefore, running a support set with a mixed spread would be useful to provide utility in the form of Thunder Wave / Spikes or Stealth Rock for your team.

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet | Iron Barbs
Relaxed | 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD (0 Spe IVs)
Stealth Rock | Gyro Ball | Thunder Wave | Power Whip
  • Having a quick glance at your team, despite it being fairly defensive like you mentioned, I can't see a solid wincon that can clean late-game. Talonflame without any Attack investments lacks firepower, Scizor seems fairly slow with its current spread and doesn't want to be locked into the wrong move, and your other Pokemon can't do much to most Pokemon (Starmie is an exception though it doesn't want to be worn down). To remedy this problem, I suggest you tweak your current Talonflame spread to 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe and use Swords Dance > Bulk Up. The given spread maximises Talonflame's attacking capabilities, allowing it to sweep late-game with a priority-boosted (and damage-boosted) Acrobatics.

Talonflame | Gale Wings
Adamant | 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Swords Dance | Roost | Taunt | Acrobatics
  • Finally, I think you should opt for U-turn instead of X-Scissor on Scizor. The power offered by X-Scissor is very useful; however, like I mentioned earlier, Scizor does not want to be locked into a move that could prove fatal, and a way to switch out safely (hard switching is an option though it's more useful to hit the foe in the process) is much more useful.
Other Options

  • Going for Gliscor > Ferrothorn gives you another wincon plus a Stealth Rock setter and a stallbreaker. However, it doesn't provide as much utility as Ferrothorn.
Good luck and hope I helped :)
