Welcome to my first RMT thread, I've been using this team for little over a week on ShoddyBattle and it it has proven fairly reliable. So I thought I'd post it on here so you guys can give me some tips to improve my current team(:
Thanks in advance(:
Swampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP/216 Def/52 SpA
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spe)
- Earthquake
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock
Swampert is my lead pokemon, and later fulfils the roll of a bulky water. EVs&Moves are those of a typical MixPert, and so far I have found this plays well. Most people assume that Swampert is a phsyical threat and therefore send in the likes of Gliscor and other similar physically bulky pokemon, this is where the mixed moveset comes into play, as Ice Beam causes major damage to Gliscor, Salamence and Zapdos. Also, Hydro Pump hurts Hippowdon, Gliscor again and common Aerodactyls leads, the accuracy dos pose a small issue, but I prefer the power of this over the power of surf, as Swampert is fairly defensive, it can take a hit or two if Hydro Pump does decide to miss. Earthquake is typical on most Swamperts helps usually in the later game against Fire/Electric types. Stealth Rock is obviously there to damage as pokemon switch in, which aids this team, like most others, very well.
Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 136 HP/156 Def/216 Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Recover
Starmie plays the role of my rapid spinner, which is how it is typically played. Dragonite doesn't like the SR damage, so Starmie spins away the rocks so Dragonite has an easier time coming in. This is also a nice MixApe counter, and sometimes helps with DD Gyarados, as long as it only has one DD under the belt. Surf is there for obvious reasons, STAB and takes care of any Ground/Rock/Fire types smoothly. Thunderbolt is there to deal with Gyarados as mentioned before. Recover is again there for obvious reasons, but usually I don't care with healing moves so a replacement would be quite helpful.
Infernape @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk/252 SpA/192 Spe
Naive nature (+Spe, - SpD)
- Close Combat
- Flamethrower
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Typical specially orientated MixApe, helps a lot with some specific threats such as Tyranitar, Flygon, Swampert, and ofc, many more. I sometimes bring this in after one of my pokemon has been fainted and try and earn a small sweep, generally this bad boy takes out about 2/3 enemy pokemon, with the Life Orb helping greatly. The onyl problem with this is that it contributes to my team's large ground weakness, but I think it may be neccessary to swap something else as MixApe has always been a favourite of mine and scores some handy KOs.
Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 6 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
Naive nature (+Spe, - SpD)
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Explosion
This is my revenge killer of sorts and also traps steel types nicely, which helps later on with getting Dragonite to sweep. Thunderbolt is for the obvious STAB and helps with Skarmory, Flash Cannon proves useful is I correctly predict a swith to Tyranitar or Rhyperior, Hidden Power [Fire] aids in the steel-trapping, and does sufficient damage to Metagross, non CM Jirachi, Bronzong and can OHKO Scizor and Forretress. Explosion allows me to go out with a bang, and helps if Latias begins to set up, which can usually rip through my team if Tyranitar has fallen.
Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/40 Def/216 SpD
Careful nature (+SpD, - SpA)
- Payback
- Curse
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
Tyranitar acts as my status absorber and also can lead to a late game sweep if Dragonite is no longer able to fight. Payback works well with Curse as the drop in speed means Tyranitar will usually attack second, making it a 100 base power, STAB attack. With Rest and Curse Tyranitar becomes very annoying to take down if the foe no longer has a strong fighting attack, or a special sweeper and can therefore help him with the survivability factor. Sand Stream obviously helps on taking Special attacks, and the nature is also geared towards taking hits from this end of the spectrum.
Dragonite @ Lum Berry
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP/60 Atk/196 Spe
Adamant nature (+Atk, - SpA)
- Outrage
- Dragon Dance
- Light Screen
- Roost
The main sweeper of my team, and another personal favourite. Lum Berry instead of Leftovers as it prevents status from enemies, but also cures confusion caused by Outrage. The reason I chose this over Bulky DDMence was because of Light Screen, which prevents significant damage from the common Ice beam, allowing me more time to set up with DD. Roost helps nicely will healing damage from SR and weakened Ice Beams. This is the second part of my Magnezone/Dragonite combination, as Magnezone should have destroyed any Steel types which can resist Dragonite's attack. I tend to find this works well, and can sweep easily after 2 DDs, not many people have a solid counter for this either.
That is my team, any help would be greatly appreciated(:
Thanks in advance(:
