Rate my team: the Heatran-Rotom Special.

Actually, this isn't my team, but a friend's. He doesn't have an account here quite yet, so he asked me to post it here in his place. Thanks in advance!

"Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Rash || Flash Fire
252 in SpAtk, 252 in Speed, 4 in HP
- Fire Blast
- Land Power
- Dragon Pulse
- Taunt

When I first made my team I didn't understand why this worked. Now I do. Most people expect LeadTran, so they stay in because they think they can take me. I OHKO them with Fire Blast, or whatever is appropriate. I can take any lead in the game with this, if it's Metagross, Hippowdown, or Swampert however, I switch. Taunt is great for disruption, and I can pull it off pretty fast. I lost Explosion, but I found the utility granted by it was well-suited for my purposes.

Rotom-C @ Leftovers
Bold || Levitate
252 in HP, 200 in Def, 56 in SpDef
- Will-O-Wisp
- Rest
- Thunderbolt
- Reflect/Leaf Storm

I never dreamed Rotom was so beastly. He's probably my favorite Pokemon right now, tied with Heatran. Nothing special about this set, really. It's my Steel killer. Will-O-Wisp is to cripple strong attackers and render them useless, such as Scizor or Metagross. Thunderbolt is for STAB, and on the last choice I'm conflicted. If I keep Leaf Storm, I effectively have an answer for every lead in the game in conjunction with Heatran. If I keep Reflect, I not only benefit from boosted Defense but may be able to set up an early sweep with Lucario. Suggest me something here.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Adamant || Technician
252 in Attack, 56 in Speed, 200 in HP
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
- U-Turn

Self-explanatory. EVs outrun CBTar, survives HP Fire from Celebi.

Latias @ Choice Scarf
Modest || Levitate
252 in SpAtk, 176 in Speed, 80 in HP
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam

Revenge killer, counters many assorted threats, such as Salamence, Kingdra if it doesn't get up a Sub, Flygon, and many, many more (it is a revenge killer). I was thinking of running Earthquake in case of Blissey, and tweaking the EV spread to fit, but realized I needed Ice Beam as an answer to Zapdos, which would otherwise pose me trouble.

dpmfa448.png

Lucario @ Life Orb
Adamant || Humble Heart
252 in Attack, 252 in Speed
- Swords Dance
- Extremespeed
- Close Combat
- Crunch

Comes in as it can, ideally after Latias, to set up a Swords Dance and commence sweeping. Crunch is for Rotom and Latias.

Kingdra @ Leftovers
Adamant || Swift Swim
- 252 in Attack, 252 in Speed
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Waterfall
- Outrage

I've been really digging Kingdra but now I'm thinking of reconsidering. He's just filling an empty slot and I wonder if there's something that I can do better here, instead of him just taking up space. Not that he's bad or anything, he just doesn't do much either.

Closing comments:

As I said before, it is notably solid, nothing amazing but nothing bad either. It preforms the tasks it was created to. In my opinion I think it's just an example of a standard team in this meta, albeit it lacks Stealth Rock - which could be a problem to some. Not much else to say."

On Rotom, 88 Spe at least; This helps outspeed Adamant Scizor. Leaf Storm helps with coverage, as you already have Will-o-Wisp for defensive support.

I would change Latias to a more support based set; You already have Heatran as a revenge killer. Defensive Calm Mind worlds nice. Using Refresh over Surf in the Defensive Calm Mind set lets your team take Status.

On Heatran, it's Earth Power not Land Power. On Lucario, It's Inner Focus instead of Humble Heart as the ability.

Do you have an example of what you achieve with Taunt on Heatran? If it already beats all leads other than Metagross, Hippowdon, and Swampert, then how are you going to beat any leads by locking yourself into Taunt. I think it could benefit from HP Ice or Explosion to help it function better later in the game. Also, how does this fare against other Shuca LeadTrans?

I do like the synergy between Rotom and Heatran, though.

I would agree that Latias could use a support based set. Dual Screens or SubCM would probably work fine for you. Dual Screens could give Lucario/Kingdra a very easy set-up.

You forgot to mention the fact that latias is pursuit bait. The suport set is not CB pursuit bait. So thats the reason for CS.
PS: Yes, I've seen this team and know what I'm talking about.
EDIT: DM is better than IB for dos. Change it to trick.

Haha, sorry about the Earth Power and Steadfast typos. I have no idea why he did that. And -_- is correct regarding Latias, which is why it cannot be changed. I don't know how he could have seen this team unless he goes to GameFAQs, but in any case he is correct.

I'll be sure to relay all incoming feedback back to the guy I'm helping out. Thank you very much!

Also I don't see the need to outspeed Scizor, personally. It can't really do anything to Rotom to begin with so I don't see why there should be such a heavy Speed investment. :)

I would suggest changing Latias to either a support set or this, which I've found to be very effective:

Latias@ Choice Specs
Timid; 252 SAtk, 252 Spe, 4 HP

~ Draco Meteor
~ Dragon Pulse
~ Surf
~ Trick

Although slower than a Scarfer, you already have Heatran as a revenge killer (and it's Scarfed already, which leads to problems with people who want to use Item Clause). This set's STAB Draco Meteor is absolutely devastating and wreaks havoc on anything not a Steel type or named Blissey. Dragon + Water provides impeccable type coverage. Trick is another trick this Latias has up its sleeve (excuse the pun) that can be used to severely mess up walls like Blissey, Skarmory, Snorlax, and the like.
