Introduction
Hello, I currently am trying to get back into Pokes. My friend and I built this team not really looking into it with much detail, but to help get me started. I wanted to build my team around Dragonite, because I enjoy his presence on my team no matter what set I run. I'm not too fluent with the new Pokemon metagame. On Pokemon Online, I'm currently 20-7 with this team right now. I just want help to make it better, and to improve my knowledge & experience. Just for help, my team building process went like this.

Step 1:

I wanted to build around Dragonite for the reasons I stated in my introduction. I've always been pleased in my 4th generation teams with Dragonites. All sets are solid, and no matter what set you run Dragonite helps your team out no matter what. I was puzzled between what set i wanted to run, whether I would give him a weather set, a choice band, or a mixed attacker set. I chose an offensive dragon dance set for simplicity, and ability to work with it.

Step 2:
This step took me a good while to figure out. This was the step i truly wanted to decide what type of team I was going to make. I decided to make a team which doesn't rely on weather, but can counter it as well. I finally decided to choose Tyranitar.

I chose Tyranitar, because with sandstorm he can counter all weather. Unlike rain & sun, Sand can help induce damage amongst my opponents. Tyranitar also has great coverage, and the set I'm running with it is more of a surprise factor.

Step 3:
This step I decided I needed a mid-late game sweeper, or what the poke I usually relate to as the closer in basketball. There are many choices you can pick here, Lucario, Salamence etc. I personally decided to go with a special mix (with a lot of help from my friend) & chose Alakazam.

I chose Alakazam because of his versatility with move sets, and he's a strong & fast attacker. Alakazam comes in a mid game scenario to late game scenario & just helps clean up everything for the victory.

Step 4:
Here I now decided, I need a hitter. If I have a late game sweeper, and a set up sweeper, I need someone who will be out on the field and pack a punch and wear and tear down some pokes. My first decision was to move Dragonite to a choice band, because that's one hard hitter. But after consideration, I decided that I'd find a new home run hitter.

Terrakion has helped set up pokes for a late game sweep. I chose him because he's a brute. He's got a move set with a lot of strong moves, and packs a huge punch with a choice band. Typing isn't too strong, and he can't take many hits, but he sure can give them out.

Step 5
Now I have my core set up for sweeping, now I need some pokes to take hits. No one takes physical hits better than Skarmory.

Skarmory is a brute force when it comes to taking it down. I've always enjoyed having a Skarmory on my team (not with Blissey). Skarmory helps cover my fighting weakness, along with being able to take my physical hits.

Step 6
This was a hard step. I kind of wanted another tank, but I couldn't quite find anyone to fit this team real well. Currently, I chose Jellicent.

I'm open to change this up because I don't really like his fit with the team, but he's actually helped out a lot. Anyway, I use Jellicent as a poke to take hits, and deliver toxic & burn support. His role on the team really isn't too vital.

Now finally, my team.

The Team

Alakazam (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
~ Psychic
~ Focus Blast
~ Shadow Ball
~ Hidden Power [Fire]

Alakazam is my mid to late game sweeper. I leave him at the lead because I usually switch my lead before the game starts. I don't usually use him, until I have too or I know a lot of the other players pokes are hurting, and can't take many hits. This set helps me out because I always have a focus sash thanks to Magic Guard, & I can switch into him in any scenario & know I can have him hit.

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
~ Stone Edge
~ Close Combat
~ Quick Attack
~ Earthquake

Terrakion is my big hitter. I usually send him in early to mid game and just use him to leave dents in walls & other team's sweepers. I love the Choice Band set because the worst I've ever killed a wall was a 3HKO & that's because of leftovers and leech seed. I try to keep this guy alive as much as possible, because him and Alakazam combined just put dents & hurts into teams.

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
~ Whirlwind
~ Spikes
~ Roost
~ Brave Bird

Skarmory is obviously here to cover my weaknesses, & take hits. Skarmory helps with getting rid of set up sweepers, and scare away physical threats. Roost helps keep Skarmory in the game for long period of times, & spikes helps out with Alakazam & Dragonite late game with hurting pokes switching in.

Dragonite (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
~ Dragon Dance
~ Outrage
~ Fire Punch
~ ExtremeSpeed

Dragonite is the man. I built this team around him with the sole purpose of setting him up late in the game to sweep teams along with Alakazam. Extremespeed helps me with faster opponents if they are already set up & his range of moves helps him with sweeping.

Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Atk / 4 Def / 64 SAtk / 140 SDef
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
~ Stealth Rock
~ Crunch / Pursuit
~ Fire Blast
~ Stone Edge

My friends set. This Tyranitar helps me set up rocks which are vital, as well as take out threats with the surprise factor of Blast. Tyranitar is used as a situational sweeper, but more of a tank.

Tentacruel (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
~ Toxic Spikes
~ Rapid Spin
~ Ice Beam / Protect
~ Scald

Thanks to Dragon Rider, I've found a better option for jellicent. I'm going to test him out, & see his feel with the team. On pencil and paper the fit seems welcoming. A newly equipped rapid spin can always help against enemy entry hazards & toxic spikes can help reduce enemy health and lead to an easier set up. Tentacruel can also help with my defenses, taking fighting hits for Skarmory, Tyranitar & Terrakion.

Honestly, if anyone can see a better option for him, I'd be open for suggestions. I'm currently using him as a wall with status support. He helps out at times, but he's in no way shape or form a key player or a key factor.

Conclusion
This team has done well since I've never really adapted, or for that matter, learned and played this metagame. I'm currently trying to re-learn it piece by piece. So far i'm 20-7 in my comeback. Any input would be welcome. I'm open to make any changes, drastic or minor. Thanks in advance!

were you thinking of the actual EVs for stallbreaker jellicent? 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe, btw!

Anyways, Dragon-types gives this team a whole load of trouble. Alakazam is a decent fix but a smart player is going to save his Hydreigon or Dragonite for lategame, whenever both that Focus Sash has been broken and Skamory is weakened or down. Rain is also a pain for this team to face, since most of your team can be broken down by Starmie, Jolteon, and other rain attackers. Politoed also has an inherent advantage over tyranitar, which is a problem. Hence, Scarf Rotom-W seems like a good idea to try over Alakazam. It gives you a nice form of offense versus rain, and Ferrothorn is handled nicely by Terrakion so long as you watch out for Thunder Wave; Gastrodon can be handled by smashing it with Terrakion as well.

As for some minor changes that help, I really think you should consider trying a shed shell on skamory, as well as a fully physically defensive spread. You have a check to the special Dragons (mainly Latios and such) in tyranitar, so there's little use in putting Special Defense EVs in. Also, try Will-O-Wisp on Jellicent over Toxic. I personally don't see the point of Toxic, but that's just me; WoW lets you neuter physical attackers, giving your other teammates an easier time with things. At the very least, it'll give Jellicent some utility. Hope this helped :P

I have switched up jellicent with a tentacruel for fighting defense & the ability to help me out with toxic spikes & rapid spin. Any other rates? Thanks NatGeo, that helped. I put Shed Shell on Skarm, and I switched up jellicent!

I see a major weakness to Electric on your team. If your opponent has a Life Orb Starmie with Hydro Pump, Thunderbolt, Psychic, and Ice Beam... you're pretty much screwed. You can do the calculations yourself, because I don't feel like doing them right now. XD
All I know is that Starmie OHKOs both of your main sweepers. That's a big problem. FIX IT. XD
