Rate My Team

So, need a bit of help improving my team. Initially started this as a counter to a friends team, and realized I needed improvement upon putting time into the Pokemon Showdown.

Currently, team is as follows:

Arcanine @ Life Orb
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- ExtremeSpeed
- Flare Blitz
- Roar
- Crunch

Arcanine is my prize. While, it does seem to be outsped by almost everything and its mother, likely due to no speed EV's, when it hits, it'll usually kill. Pretty good at getting a prediction Flash Fire set up so Flare Blitz will hit even harder.

Azumarill @ Leftovers
Trait: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Substitute
- Ice Punch
- Focus Punch

Azumarill is the newest asset to my team. Changed him in for Kingdra. Kingdra tended to be extremely fragile, and after reading up on it, Azumarill seemed the better option. If I can get substitute off, something usually will die, unless it gets roared out by Blastoise.

Hitmontop (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Sucker Punch
- Mach Punch
- Toxic

Hitmontop... Not too overly fond of it. I replaced a Crobat for it, and I'm feeling "meh" about it. Only did it so that I'd have something to do Rapid Spin. My second toxic dropper for if Umbreon is down, or if it's against something Umbreon can't handle - ex: Heracross.

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Def
Careful Nature
- Wish
- Heal Bell
- Foul Play
- Toxic

Umbreon is my wall, stall, toxic dumping, psychic dropping poke. If I know I'm about to be hit hard, switch into Umbreon, and usually live to tell about it.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Psychic

Bronzong is there as my lead. Set up stealth rocks. Initially had toxic in place of psychic, but after finding I had a team weakness to fighting type in general, Psychic gained a slot.

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Trait: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 208 HP / 48 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Megahorn
- Substitute

Rhyperior is also a new addition to my team. I found it to be great when the situation rises, and almost a waste of a slot when it can't be switched in or if the opponent is entirely ready for it.

There isn't an overall scheme for this team aside from to steer from the normal a bit. A lot of teams run Zapdos, Raikou, Mew, Coballion, etc. and this team is against that very idea.

I'm open to most changes, the only requirements are as follows:
Must have Arcanine - Willing to change his set - tends to be outsped a lot and as such is killed within a hit or two. Usually OHKO'd by a earthquake/stone edge by anything that runs it. Umbreon is preferred to stay - but the rest are free game. Cannot put in any Legendaries - Zapdos, Raikou, Cobalion, etc. Also cannot use: Nidoking, Chandelure, Cofagrigus, or Flygon.

I've been sitting about mid 1500's in PS, but teams with Yanmega or Scrafty tend to mess me up a lot. Also some of the Darmanitan/Kingdra teams. Fighting types like Mienshao hurts, but Machamp will almost always sweep my team.

I think what your team needs is a committed Psychic type sweeper. I suggest Azelf. Not only can it get Stealth Rocks up, but it can also ail your Fighting problems. If in place, it would replace Bronzong. It's SpA is so high naturally that it may not need any set up. I suggest this set:

Azelf@Life Orb
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 SpA, 4SpD, 252 Spe
Moves:
Stealth Rock
Psychic
Focus Blast
Earth Power

This set may be unorthodox but it is made specifically to defend against your teams weaknesses. I know you don't want legendaries, however there are very few Psychics in the UU tier with the ability to fill this role (the other is Mew, but that's a sacrifice of power and speed for longevity). Azelf isn't used very often anymore either, mostly due to the nerf of Explosion.

To be exact, Azelf is currently #29 and Mew #32 in usage in UU on PO. Bronzong is #4, Umbreon is #3, Rhyperior is #26, Hitmontop is #10, Arcanine is #9, and Azumarill is #37. Stats are just to show that Azelf and Mew aren't used extremely often.

No, Azelf is quite frail, and is OHKOed by a single Foul Play. He also said no Legendaries. Bronzong can stay, but Toxic / Protect > Earthquake. Just play it smart, and the lack of coverage can be accounted for.

As for Umbreon, I recommend Yawn > Toxic. This forces Pokemon like Gligar, Bronzong, and Nidoking to switch out. Meanwhile, with Toxic, Umbreon is bait for them. Yawn not only threatens status, but creates a useful form of phazing.

As for Azumarill, I would switch the SubPunch set to a Choice Band set. This allows Azumarill to avoid having to set up anything, and its STAB Aqua Jet can be surprisingly powerful. This also gives your team some priority, and a ridiculously powerful nuke for handling pokemon like Krookodile and Chandelure.

Arcanine running Roar. While an interesting surprise factor, Arcanine prefers coverage. I suggest Close Combat / Wild Charge > Roar. Close Combat will handle Snorlax, Porygon 2, and Houndoom, but Wild Charge will be great for taking out bulky water types, such as Milotic or Blastoise.

Now, to handle your fighting weakness. The most logical idea would be to provide a Ghost type, which also comes handy for battering down other things as well. And... you have no special attacker. Your best bet is Nasty Plot Mismagius > Rhyperior. I have tried Nasty Plot behind a substitute, and SubMagius is certainly annoying to the opponent if timed correctly. It also a pain in the neck for Machamp lacking Bullet Punch or Payback to handle.

If you're not satisfied with Hitmontop, you're not using it right. Abuse Intimidate for all it's worth.

If you're worried about Arcanine being outsped, then give it some speed investment. Jolly/252 Spe should work well.

There's nothing wrong with using legendaries, dude. Oftentimes they're outclassed by non-legends. It's just a part of the game.

Thank you Red.
@A Dude: I have swept entire OU teams with Azelf. And please don't tell me that it is because this is UU and not OU because Azelf was OU in DPP and was moved down by the players. Azelf is an extremely versatile Pokemon and, when used correctly, becomes a huge threat.
