Rate My UU Team

Sup guys and girls, whats cracking? I havent played in a while and have gotten back into battling in the UU bracket. Ive used this team a few times before but id like to see what you guys think, as the game has changed a lot now that platinums out. Id really appreciate some pointers as this is my first time on smogon, and my first time having my team reviewed, and i hope i did the RMT correctly.

Pimpslap: Ambipom@ silk scarf
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Technician
252 speed / 252 atk/ 4 hp
-Fake out
-brick break
-u-turn
-shadow claw

Here is my lead. I throw him out, and use fake out. I can generally judge what kind of lead they are using depending on how much damage fake out inflicts. After fake out comes u-turn, and I send out an appropriate counter. If I feel like I can kill the poke that is currently out. I will try to, but mainly this guy is my scout. He might come in late game for another fake out and u-turn to soften an enemy poke up. Im beginning to see that Ambipom is far to predictable with fake out, and am considering finding a less predictable lead, possibly the other ambipom i have

dpmfa452.png

Terminator: Drapion@ scope lens
Nature:Jolly
Ability: Sniper
252 atk / 252 speed
-swords dance
-night slash
-earthquake
-ice fang

Drapion. I love this guy, with 110 base defense he can take a hit, often allowing me a free swords dance. This is my pokemon of choice to send out after Persian or when I can predict a chance to switch in safely. One I have a swords dance up I can commence to sweep, using night slash for high powered critical hits.

dpmfa157.png

Intensity:Typlosion@ choice scarf
Nature: Mild
Ability: Blaze
144 Atk / 252 SpA / 112 Spe
-eruption
-earthquake
-focus punch
-Fire Blast

Typlosion is the heavy hitter for my team, and I like to bring him in after ive scoped out there team to check for those who would heavily resist him and hopefully gotten rid of any stealth rocks or spikes. At full health eruption has 150 base power, and along with his high sp.atk and choice scarf he can hit hard and fast. Earthquake is there for some coverage, along with focus punch for predicted stat ups etc. After typlosion is weakened, eruption is no longer that powerful. But along with the reduced hp comes Blaze, so I use fire blast to achieve the same powerful STAB

dpmfa336.png

Orochimaru: Seviper@ life orb
Nature: Naughty
Abillity: Shed skin
56 HP / 220 Atk / 96 SpA / 136 Spe
-flamethrower
-EQ
-giga drain
-poison jab

Seviper, my wall breaker. With a wide array of coverage and a chance to poison with his STAB attack, he is perfect for this. I swap him in on a wall, and proceed to rip it apart with life orb boosted attacks. Giga drain is used when I can to help compensate with life orb damage, really helping this guy against physical walls. Shed skin is amazing for him because when walls inflict statues, that i have a chance to shrug off. Due to his not so high speed, he isn’t really a good sweeper, but he serves his purpose.

dpmfa154.png

Sunpowa: Meganium@ leftovers
Nature: calm
Ability: overgrow
252 HP / 252 sp.def/ 6 sp.atk (?)
-leech seed
-aromatherapy
-reflect
-energy ball/synthesis?

My specail wall, and resistence to ground a big weakness in my team. Can also operate as a cleric and set up reflect. Reflects there to boost defenses, mabye to even allow drapion to squeeze in an extra swords dance or allow another one of my pokemon to set up. I wasnt sure what to do with the last slot, fearing taunt so im leaning towards energy ball, but im not sure. As for the last 6 evs i dont kno where to put them, so i went with sp.atk. Id still like to find a specail wall that doesnt have problems with ground and can spin, but has good typing so as to not open any new glaring weakness's in my team. Mabye im asking for to much

dpmfa080.png

Slowbro@leftovers
Nature: Bold
Ability: Own Tempo
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
-Slack off
-surf
-psychic
-calm mind

This guy is a physical wall, but with great potential. Often enough I can score a free calm mind with this guy, and from there maybe a few more coupled with slack off. After a few calm minds this guy starts to shine, shrugging off nearly everything and dishing out heavy damage with STAB surf and psychic. The only problem this guy really has is with statuses, and ive considered swapping leftovers with lum berry, but then leech seed would start annoying him.

Uncertainties
This are changes im thinking of making, but im not quite sure about
Alternative Lead:
dpmfa424.png

Ambipom@ focus sash/ leftovers?
Nature: timid
Ability: Technician
252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
-Nasty Plot
-Swift
-Baton Pass
-Substitute?

Id like to completely sweep teams with typlosion, and this guy could set him up for completely epic eruptions. If typlosion isnt able to come out due to a typing, i can pass the boost off to one to slowbro mabye and have him do some heavy hitting.

Rapid spinner:
dpmfa237.png

Hitmontop @leftovers
Nature: Impish
Ability: Intimidate
252 HP / 72 Def / 184 Spe
-rapid spin
-close combat
-toxic
-aerial ace

Alternative to seviper if i use nasty plot typlosion to overpower walls, this guy is my much wanted rapid spinner, and status inflicter. I choose him over over rapid spinners because of his typing not opening up a glaring weakness in my team.

Alternative Special Wall
dpmfa379.png

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/100 Atk/156 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion/ toxic?

Covers Slowbros weakness's nicely and can set up stealth rock, alternative to meganium due to my team not having to worry to much about statues such as toxic spikes due to drapion. Counters Set up mismagius. Trying to get toxic in the set tohelp take down bulky waters to pave the way for a typlosion sweep.

Alternative Wall Breaker
dpmfa334.png

Altaria (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 112 Atk/144 Spd/252 SAtk
Mild nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Outrage

Mix sweeper with decent speed, chosen over seviper to help with ground weakness, and has a wide variety of attacks to help rip through bulky waters to aid in typlosion sweep

Team Building

I saw fake out leads and it was love at first sight. I immediate picked Persian as my lead
dpmfb053.png

Next thing i knew drapion appeared. One of my favoirte pokes, with an awsome move set i took it.
dpmfb053.png
dpmfb452.png

I realized i wasnt thinking very logically in building my team so i took a step back and glanced at it. I had 2 physical pokemon already so i decided on a specail sweeper. Recalling a beastly pokemon that had done heavy damage to my team an an earlier match i chose typlosion
dpmfb053.png
dpmfb452.png
dpmfb157.png

Uh-oh already have a weakness to earthquake and stealth rocks gonna be a pain in the butt, so i choose a rapid spinner that could avoid earthquakes, and mabye inflict some status, Claydol.

dpmfa344.png

Then i needed a defensive wall noticing that the majority of sweepers in UU are physical. i needed one to resist fighting as that was a weakness in my team. I saw slowbro, and loved it. I chose this set because i thought hey, hes a physical wall and after a few calm minds a decent specail wall and specail sweeper! rock on!

Speaking of walls, how is my team going to coup with them? I started looking for a wall breaker. I saw seviper, loved the fact that i could shrug off status's with shed skin, and the wide array of moves.

I noticed that Ambipom was UU now, and with a higher attack stat and equal speed, i opted for stronger fake outs

Looked into the team, really didnt like claydol at all and dropped him for specail wall probopass. Even this guy i want to replace becuase i want a spinner, but i just cant find a slot in my team to squeeze one in

I really have gone insane havent i? Why in the hell did i think i should put probopass in there? i dont know! So i opted to meganium because of good defenses and a resistance to ground. Id still like a spinner tho *grumble*

You can only have 510 EV's total. You've got 756 total on Ambipom which means you've either made a typing mistake or you're using an illegal Ambipom :P

If you want a wall breaker, go with a mixed blaziken. that guy is simply amazing, and can sweep unprepared.

I'd also consider fire blast over overheat on typhlosion.

And on ambipom, if you running silk scarf, you might wanna take advantage of the STAB technician boosted silk scarf boosted double hit. Paired with fake out and it can KO many pokes.

i might make the swap to blaziken, ill look into it, and i prefer overheat due to its higher accurary and power. The stat decline with overheat isnt to bad because if im using overheat, typlosion is already near death

For Drapion, try out Taunt over Ice Fang. Ice Fang is mainly for Torterra and Altaria, but when you have scope lens Night Slashes aimed at them, they will go down. I recommend Taunt because it does excellently vs. stall teams, Taunting away status and entry hazards and using the opportunity to set up. Many stall teams will not be able to handle Drapiom once Steelix/Registeel go down. You're also missing 4 EVs on Drapion, which should be put into HP.

I recommend changing Meganium. Your team is not very status weak with Drapion absorbing Toxic Spikes, so Aromatherapy is not needed for this team. I strongly recommend Registeel over Meganium (I'll address the ground weakness soon enough). Registeel forms a very effective walling combination with Slowbro, with Regi resisting Slowbro's Ghost, Dark, Bug, and Grass weakness and Slowbro resisting Regi's fighting weakness.

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/100 Atk/156 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion

The standard Registeel gives an excellent Mismagius counter (who can set up on quite a bit of your team), Life Orb Roserade counter when Drapion is slept, much needed Stealth Rocks, and overall good check to any sweeper with Explosion. You can also try Thunder Wave for slowing down fast sweepers, Ice Punch for Altaria, or Toxic for walls, namely bulky waters (seems great for getting a Typhlosion sweep).

To help with the ground weakness, I strongly recommend mixed Altaria over Seviper.

Altaria (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 112 Atk/144 Spd/252 SAtk
Mild nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Outrage

Roost can go over Earthquake to heal residual damage if you want. This is pretty much Mixmence of UU, blasting through bulky water switch ins with dragon attacks and hitting plenty of things with high powered attacks. This will work well in tandem with Typhlosion when the bulky waters are gone.

Choice Scarf Typhlosion should have Fire Blast over Overheat. Eruption should be you early game heavy hitting move, and Fire Blast will be a great move to have once you're in Blaze range. Also, what is EQ useful for? If you don't find it useful, you can use HP Ice for Altaria or HP grass for waters/Quagsire/Gastrodon.

I've tried Rest over Slack Off on CM Slowbro, and it works awesomely vs. bulky waters and Chansey who think they can stall you out with Toxic. Psychic will be great in getting the KO's on Chansey and Milotic that constantly recover because of the sp.def lowering side effect. You'll be in somewhat of a stalemate vs. Haze Milotic though. Try that out, I've had much more success with Rest. Not much can 2HKO Slowbro after a couple of boosts without crits.

So to recap, you have Ambipom, Registeel and Slowbro to deal with offensive teams, and Altaria and Drapion to deal with stall, with Ambipom getting in free damage everywhere. Looks great. Try out the changes and report back. Good luck!
