Hey! I am gearing up to go to the Pokemon Regional Championships in Seattle in a couple of weeks, and I would like some feedback on my team. It is doing amazingly in play testing, but I could use a few pointers if there is anything else I can improve upon.
Talonflame w/Choice Band
Gale Wings
Adamant (252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 HP)
Brave Bird
Flare Blitz
U-Turn
Return
This one is just here as a monster physical attacker. Hardly anything can take a Choice-banded Brave Bird, and Flare Blitz rounds out STAB. Return is to put a dent in stuff that resists the STAB, such as Rotom-W, and U-turn is to scout the opposing team as well as to get out of unfavorable matchups.
Staraptor w/Choice Scarf
Intimidate
Jolly (252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 HP)
Brave Bird
Close Combat
Return
U-Turn
Similar set to Talonflame, but entirely different purpose. This, along with Mawile, is planned to be a lead to counter physical attackers like fellow Mawile and Mega Kangaskhan. It then U-turns out to something else, preferably a special attacker or Talonflame in case of Will-o-Wisp. Return and Brave Bird are STAB, and Scarf pretty much guarantees that Staraptor is going first (barring Extremespeed or Protect)
Greninja w/Life Orb
Protean
Timid (252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 HP)
Dark Pulse
Surf
Ice Beam
Extrasensory
This is just a monstrous special attacker. This Greninja forgoes Hydro Pump and opts for Surf instead to hit multiple targets. Due to Protean's effect, everything gets STAB, and will hit hard on pretty much anything. Extrasensory is mainly here for coverage, but it may be able to be replaced by something else.
Mawile w/Mawilite
Intimidate (Huge Power as Mega Mawile)
Adamant (252 Att, 252 HP, 4 SpD)
Play Rough
Swords Dance
Iron Head
Sucker Punch
The other planned lead alongside Staraptor. However, this is more of an offensive lead, in the sense that it will Swords Dance as soon as it comes out, then Play Rough or Sucker Punch everything else to death. Iron Head is here as STAB, as well as to deal with Fairies that it may otherwise have trouble with.
Espeon w/Light Clay
Magic Bounce
Timid (252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 HP)
Reflect
Light Screen
Psyshock
Shadow Ball
The purpose of this Espeon is merely to set up screens. This is also an option for Staraptor to U-turn into, in case of Stealth Rock. This guy makes other teams think twice before going in with entry hazards, as they can just end up putting hazards on themselves (this is also why I don't have a Stealth Rock user on my team).
Garchomp w/Yache Berry
Sand Veil
Jolly (252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 HP)
Stone Edge
Earthquake
Swords Dance
Outrage
Rounding off the attackers is Garchomp. I opted for the Yache Berry set because I already have Scarf on something else. As soon as Swords Dance is up, there is not much that can wall this monster. The EdgeQuake combination is tried-and-true, and Outrage is simply here to take down 2 or 3 team members (barring Fairies). I'm not entirely sure if to go with this one or with Weakness Policy Dragonite yet, though.
Again, this team is doing very well in testing at Showdown and with a few friends, but I would like to get some feedback on it, if at all possible :)
