Hey everyone, I'm looking for some advice on my current VGC Team, any thoughts/advice would be appreciated:
Reuniclus-Crowned Life Orb
Ability Magic Guard
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Nature (+SpA/-Spe)
- Trick Room
- Tera Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Expanding Force
I just like Reuniclus and think it has potential. It can hold the life orb to get the damage boost, and magic guard prevents it from taking the damage that normally comes with it. It has a monstrous SpA stat, but abysmal speed, making it perfect in a Trick Room setting. I gave it tera fairy so it can take a potential dark type attack, and tera blast to hit back.
Indeedee F - @ Eject Button
Ability: Psychic Surge
Level: 50
Shiny: No
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Nature (+SpD/-Spe)
- Trick Room
- Follow Me
- Helping Hand
- Dazzling Gleam
Partnered with Reuniclus as a lead to set up psychic terrain, allowing Reuniclus to use a spread expanding force. Currently having it hold an eject button, and using follow me on turn 1 to protect Reuniclus while it sets up trick room, and swap in another mon like Inceneroar for intimidate or Torkoal to go for Eruption in Trick Room. Also like haivng the eject button to get Indeedee off the field ASAP incase Rillaboom comes out and sets up grassy terrain, that way indeedee can come right back in and get rid of it.
Zamazenta-Crowned @ Rusted Shield
Ability: Dauntless Shield
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 4 HP
Nature (+SpD/-SpA)
- Wide Guard
- Iron Defense
- Beheemoth Bash
- Body Press
Another mon I just like, I like having a tanky Pokémon on the field that can dish out damage while absorbing hits. Using wide guard to protect from spread moves, I don't think this is a special zamazenta
Torkoal @ Charcoal
Ability: Drought
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Nature (+ SpA/-Spe)
- Protect
- Solar Beam
- Flamethrower
- Eruption
Classic mon I also like. Once trick room is up ideally send out torkoal to go for Eruption damage. Flamethrower is on there as a back up fire type move, most people dont see it coming, and onc torkaol is damaged they think they're safe from eruption, but then flamethrower gets them. I've considered Heat Wave, but I don't like the accuracy on it, and I like having a non spread fire type move because once people see Torkoal has eruption, they use wide guard.
Incineroar @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 90 Atk / 83 Def / 83 SpD
Nature (+SpD/-Spe)
- Parting Shot
- Snarl
- Knock Off
- Flare Blitz
Run of the mill Inceneroar. It's a good pivot pokemon to run with Indeedee to support Reuniclus in Trick Room.
Walking Wake @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Level: 50
Shiny: No
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Sp
Nature (+Spe/-Atk)
- Sunny Day
- Flamethrower
- Hydrosteam
- Dragon Pulse
Threw Walking Wake in here because I wanted something to deal water type damage, and Hydro Steam is boosted by the sunlight from Torkaol, instead of being weakened. Gave Walking Wake Sunny Day as a back up to get Sunny day up/cancel out the opponents weather effect.
Overall I like this Team, it got me up to the Ultra Rank Tier in ranked battles, but I'm aiming to go to my first VGC event this upcoming season, and want to be ready. I love Reuniclus with expanding force because once it's unexpected, and once it's going, it's hard to stop. Indeedee goes with Reuniclus to set that up, but I'm thinking about getting rid of the eject button anf giving it a psychic seed or something. Inceneroar has been a good pivot and Torkoal is super helpful as a back up damage dealer, but I don't like the idea of having two fire types. I think Walking Wake compliments Torkaol well, but I am thinking of maybe getting rid of Torkaol and putting in a Pelipper and something that does well in the rain and trick room. Zamazenta is also great, but I'm not super happy with it in this specific Team, and I'm considein putting in Calayrex Ice rider, but then I have three psychic types.
Any thoughts/improvements?
