Hey there! So this is my first competitive team. My team is pretty much centered on defense. I've been using it on Pokemon Showdown and been doing great. So... Rate please!
Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Slack Off
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Fire Blast
Say hello to Frank, my Slowbro! Fire Blast gives me an edge on Genesect, Ferrothorn, Mawile, etc. Physical defense is already great and Calm Mind will just make his Sp. stats even better. Sucker Punch can be a real killer but it allows me to set up Calm Mind to max (with correct prediction) and obliterate opposing teams with just Frank.
Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Aromatherapy
Fabulously great Sp. Def does me well to use Wish or Aromatherapy upon switch in. You can't really go wrong with Moonblast, especially with Florges' 112 Sp. Attack stat. Calm Mind just like Slowbro to give it a little more fire power.
Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 248 Def / 8 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Synthesis
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Energy Ball/Sludge Bomb
I don't see people using SubSeed on Venusaur lately so I thought I'd give it a try. Substitute works a little better now that he has Thick Fat. Sludge Bomb has a great chance of poisoning my foe which just speeds up the process of leeching him dry.
Umbreon @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Toxic
- Baton Pass
- Wish
- Protect
One of my favorite Pokemon of all time. I was thinking of using Leftovers but then... Rocky Helmet allows me to take out a badly injured Flare Blitz/Close Combat user that'll knock out my Ferrothorn, just by switching in. Baton Pass cuz Umbreon is slow --- If I want to switch in another Pokemon safely, BPass makes Umbreon take the hit THEN switch out.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 224 Def / 32 SDef
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
Reliable as he'll ever be. Stealth Rock for those using Talonflame, Mega Pinsir, etc. I also went with Spikes cuz I like seeing their HP go down even before I attack. This is my only Physical offense in my team. So I have him take care of Blissey and Florges (occasionally Gengar).
Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Energy Ball
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
Fastest way to clean up a mess is by lighting it on fire! Great STAB Fire Blast and good coverage with Energy Ball. Scarf even gets me to outspeed Gengar. Takes care of an unboosted Lucario as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've had problems walling a few Pokemon though!! Charizard Y, Trevevant, Thundurus (Prankster) and a few others have been quite a pain... I get around them eventually but it's tough. Since my team is centered on passive damage, Taunt sure is annoying.
Rock-type & Fighting-type coverage seem to be something to work on as well.
Overall, this team has been treating me well (as long as I'm predicting and analyzing my opponent correctly).
SO... Rate please!
