I'm fairly new to VGC format and double battling in general, After my last team I decided to try out the idea of basing my team around a core, so I decided to make a basic fwg core staring one of my favorite megas. All the nicknames are based on characters or objects in books, so congrats if you get the references. I've already bred all of them in game, but I'm considering re-breeding a few to fix their natures (several were stolen from my old singles teams)

Great A'Tuin (Blastoise) @ Blastoisinite

Ability: Torrent -> Mega Launcher

Nature: Modest

EVs: 116 HP/4 Def/ 252 SpA/ 4 SpD/ 132 Spe

-Water Spout

-Aura Sphere

-Ice Beam

-Protect

Who better for my mega than the cosmic turtle? I really like Mega Blastoise and especially using him to destroy things with full power water spouts, the only problem is keeping him healthy. Aura Sphere is for anything that is weak to fighting or that resists Water. It serves as both coverage and, because of mega launcher, a really powerful single target attack. Ice beam is for dragons and Amoonguss.

amoonguss.gif

Angela (Amoonguss) @ leftovers (I can't find black sludge, thinking about replacing with rocky helmet)

Ability: Effect Spore (I seldom if ever switch out, so regenerator would go to waste)

Nature: Modest

EVs: 248 HP/ 252 Def/ 8 SpD

-Giga Drain

-Rage Powder

-Spore

-Protect

Amoonguss is there to basically spam rage powder so Blastoise can keep firing off full power water spouts. This does create a problem with grass types since I can't rage powder them or put them to sleep. Maybe I should switch it to a togekiss to redirect grass types? But that gives me a double weakness to electric. Giga Drain is in case of taunt and also to heal Amoonguss whenever the opportunity arises. Spore is to induce sleep whenever possible, making more oportunities for Amoonguss to attack.

rotom-heat.gif

Spook (Rotom-H) @ Sitrus Berry

Ability: Levitate

Nature:Calm

EVs: 100 HP/ 252 SpA/ 156 Spe

-Thunderbolt

-Will-O-Wisp

-Overheat

-Protect

Rotom Heat rounds out my FWG core, with the ability to take out common pesky grass types. I may have to re-breed for a modest nature to guarantee needed OHKOs, but I'm not sure. Thunderbolt and Overheat provide great coverage, eliminating common threats like Amoonguss, Mega Zard Y, and Talonflame. Rotom is faster than blastoise so it can eliminate Amoonguss before Blastoise moves, so Blastoise's attacks won't be redirected.

garchomp-f.gif

Saphira (Garchomp) @ Focus Sash

Ability: Rough Skin

Nature: Jolly

EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe

-Earthquake

-Dragon Claw

-Rock Slide

-Protect

Garchomp is a really solid 'Mon I included to put some physical pressure on the opponent, since most of my team is special. It's a basic set maximizing speed, STAB, and coverage. It's really nice for late game spread moves after Blastoise either has to be switched out or is taken out. It likes to be paired up with Rotom, so they can both fire off powerful moves without the fear of Garchomp damaging an ally.

bisharp.gif

Elan Morin (Bisharp) @ Life Orb

Ability: Defiant

Nature: Adamant

EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe

-Sucker Punch

-Iron Head

-Knock Off

-Protect

What better name for a Defiant user than Betrayer of Hope? Bisharp's here for when I need more physical pressure, if I see lots of intimidate, or if I need to kill fairies. The set's very basic, let me know if anything else will fit better. I'm also not sure about the items for Garchomp and Bisharp, should they be switched? But I also see that Bisharp kind of needs the life orb boost to hit hard enough if he hasn't gotten a defiant boost yet.

aegislash-blade.gif

Callandoor (Aegislash) @ Weakness Policy

Ability: Stance Change

Nature: Quiet

EVs: 252 HP/ 100 SpA/ 152 SpD

-Substitute

-King's Shield

-Flash Cannon

-Shadow Ball

The Sword that is not a Sword. I mainly use it if I see something that the rest of my team would have trouble taking down. I only take it if I'm not using something of my core, because taking four special attackers is just asking for trouble. I'm not sure how viable substitute AND weakness policy is, I usually end up using one or the other. Should I rebreed it for wide guard? or change amoonguss' item and give him lefties? Other than the item question, the spread and moves are fairly standard. I already have a steel type, so maybe I should switch it to something like sylveon to have a FWG core AND a fantasy core, so I can take whatever seems to be the best for the situation. (but if I get a sylveon, what would I nickname it!?!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Well, it looks like you don't have many teammates for your garchomp to eq next to, and bisharp+aegi tend to share weaknesses, so why not replace bisharp for a hydreigon? You don't have very many fastmons, so scarf seems like a good choice. That would also free up life orb for garchomp, who doesn't make great use of sash.

Also, sub+wp on aegi is kinda redundant, as you don't get a boost from se hits on your sub, and you often won't have the bulk to sub more than once. Perhaps replace sub for wide guard? You are fairly weak to earthquake, and sylveon if you choose to use hydrei.
