Real Bulky Offense

The Team

When I built this team I initially was planning on making a Hyper Offense however as things progressed it ended up being very much a Bulky Offense team, for that reason I am making a rate my team for this team, As far as I can tell from the battles I have had I have not had any particular problems with any pokemon.

-----

Bisharp

Bisharp was the pokemon that I wanted to build my team around, so I started with Bisharp:

bisharp.gif

Role: Physical Sweeper/Knock Off Utility/Defog Switch-In
Bisharp @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance

Synergy
FightingIC_Big.png
Latios / Zapdos / Clefable
GroundIC_Big.png
Latios (non-mold Breaker)/ Zapdos
FireIC_Big.png
Charizard X / Latios

Bisharp's set is very standard. I wanted to base my team around this set simply because I love using bisharp and I wanted it to be as lethal as possible. Life orb is used to help maximize damage and sword dance is used for potential setups if the opportunity presents itself. Knock off is great for dealing with stall and eviolite in particular but it can also be handy on most other pokemon/items as well to get a slight edge. Iron head is my fairy coverage for the team which was definitely needed and then there is sucker punch which is what gives bisharp its niche in OU with fast stab coverage.

Zapdos

Following from bisharp I knew the next slot would have to be a fighting resist which could also double up as a defog user simply because hazards are a nuisance, for that reason zapdos was my slot 2 choice:

zapdos.gif

Role: Defog user / Bulky Special attacker
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 68 SAtk / 20 Spd
Bold Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Defog
- Roost
- Heat Wave

Synergy

Bisharp
IceIC_Big.png
Bisharp

With Zapdos I opted for a nice bulky set, devoting lots of the EV's into Defense so that I could maximize its longevity. Defog was the first move i wanted so that i could remove and annoying hazards if need be. Roost is the obvious regeneration move that should be accompanied by any bulky Pokemon. Thunderbolt is it's main stab move to deal with water threats and the odd bird named talonflame. Heat wave is coverage so Zapdos is not walled by steel pokemon. After adding Zapdos to the team I also realized zapdos and Bisharp have some pretty decent synergy with each other wihich was an added plus point for my team.

-----

Mamoswine

With a Defog magnet on my team I decided I wanted a bulky stealth rock user. my choices were going to be between Excadrill, Hippowdon and Mamoswine and eventually I decided on Mamoswine for the extra ice coverage as well as priority:

mamoswine.gif

Role: Stealth Rock Support / Priority attack
Mamoswine @ Focus Sash
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake

Synergy
FightingIC_Big.png
Latios / Zapdos / Clefable
SteelIC_Big.png
Charizard X / Zapdos / Bisharp
FireIC_Big.png
Charizard X / Latios
WaterIC_Big.png
Latios
GrassIC_Big.png
Charizard X / Zapdos / Latios / Bisharp

The first move I had to go for was stealth rock, considering the main purpose of this pokemon was rocks it would have been foolish not to. Focus sash guarantees that i can at least get stealth rocks down at minimum on most occasions. The EV's went int speed so that i can outspeed a decent bunch of pokemon and get in some nice damage with earthquake which is the main stab move. Ice shard is my priority move on the team should I be required to need it and Icicle crash is the ice stab so that It has two strong stab moves.

-----

Latios

I now have two pokemon That are weak to fighting, for that reason I felt it would be safest to have a second fighting resist in the team and Latios seemed perfect for the slot:

latios.gif

Role: Special Sweeper / Defog Back-up
Latios @ White Herb
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Thunderbolt

Synergy
BugIC_Big.png
Charizard X / Zapdos / Clefable
GhostIC_Big.png
Bisharp
IceIC_Big.png
Bisharp
DragonIC_Big.png
Bisharp / Clefable
DarkIC_Big.png
Bisharp / Clefable

Latios has been built to wreck, with most of the meta being physically offensive latios can take care of quite a few of the physical walls quite effectively. The EV's were all invested to deal damage quickly and as such I opted for the more powerful moves. Draco meteor is an incredibly hard hitting move, combine that with white Herb and I can use it twice without having to switch out - It is also stab which helps it deliver an even bigger punch. Psyshock was my psychic move of choice, it also get's a stab bonus but i can use it against special walls that try to come in and stop latios. Defog is there as insurance on the of chance zapdos gets killed. Finally i have chosen thunderbolt for coverage against Pokemon such as azumarill and Talonflame.

Charizard X

With my team still missing a mega it was time to add a mega, with two defog users on my team Charizard X made sense as a bulky DDance sweeper:

charizard-megax.gif

Role: Physical Sweeper / Setup Sweeper
Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 144 HP / 240 Atk / 4 SDef / 120 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Roost

Synergy
GroundIC_Big.png
Latios (non-mold Breaker)/ Zapdos
RockIC_Big.png
Bisharp
DragonIC_Big.png
Bisharp / Clefable

Charizard X is once again a more bulky version rather than aggressive, It has EV's invested in HP so that it will survive longer and so that it can also make use from roost. Because it has two defog supporters in the team it can generally switch in safely. The moveset is very standard, two Stab boosted moves in the from of Dragon claw and flare blitz, Dragon claw was chosen over other dragon moves because of reliablity. Dragon dance allows me to set-up, after one dance I can out-speed and OHKO a large portion of OU using one of the two stab moves available.

Clefable Sylveon

With one team slot left, I decided on a pokemon to wall the numerous amounts of dragon sweepers around, my pokemon of choice for this was clefable(now replaced with sylveon):
sylveon.gif

Role: Dragon Wall / Team Support
Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Wish
- Protect
- Heal Bell

Old Set:
clefable.gif

Role: Dragon Wall / Special attacker
Clefable @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Flamethrower
Synergy
PoisonIC_Big.png
Mamoswine / Bisharp
SteelIC_Big.png
Charizard X / Zapdos / Bisharp

Clefable is great, With EV's focused on defense I can often get in at least 2 attacks before needing to heal up, which can often result in two dead pokemon thanks to Life Orb. the set I use is for Bulking up. Calm mind can be used if i feel like i have a free turn to setup, Moon blast is a strong stab move which kits most Pokemon for decent damage. Soft-Boiled is the essential recovery move so that i can heal up every once in a while. Finally there is flamethrower to deal with slow steel pokemon who think they can switch in and try to kill clefable.

-----

So there is my team, it has a bit of a weakness to fighting but it is generally manageable. Feel free to give it a go if you wish. And please leave any feedback if you believe changes could be made that would be beneficial. I believe my team is unique in that It isn't dominate by physical sweepers and it has a decent variety to play with making it quite a fun team to use. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and thank you to anyone who has any feedback for me :)

Overall, it is a very solid and well built team.

However, I do believe that Greninja is a big threat to your team.

252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Clefable: 218-257 (55.3 - 65.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery. Scratch the leftovers because you carry Life Orb.

Even your best switch in basically gets 2HKOd.

I would suggest changing to a Bold Slyveon

252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Sylveon: 160-188 (40.6 - 47.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Barring the unlucky crit, Slyveon can then heal itself or a teammate with wish, or dent any switch in with Pixilate Hyper Voice. And thats with the physically orientated set. The Calm 252 SpDef set needs 4 hits to kill.

Set in Question

Slyveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs 252 HP/ 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
-Hyper Voice
-Wish
-Protect
-Heal Bell

Alternatively, you can go Calm and invest mainly in SpDef, but still toss a few in Defense.

Just a few nitpicks about Latios.
  1. Take off White Herb imo. Life Orb Damage is way better and way more consistent.
  2. Take of Defog and replace with HP Fire/ Fighting. Fire hits Ferrothorn, Bisharp, and Aegislash switch ins. You can also use Earthquake instead, as that lures in Heatran, opening a way for a Charizard X sweep. Alternatively, you can go Roost instead to negate LO Recoil. If you do, I suggest cutting Tbolt in favor of EQ, simply because luring in Heatran and weakening it for Char X basically leaves you home free to sweep. Psyshock can hit Azumarill and Talonflame plenty hard.

The only other real weakness I see is Sand Rush Excadrill. Pretty much picks apart your team, especially if mamo loses its sash, and Zapdos and Latios are weakened. Pretty much have to either boost up with Char X enough and also take down Excas health so a sucker punch can take it out. Or just keep Sash intact, and hope the balloon is broken.

Alternatively, you can try an Azumarill set. This will really help with the Excadrill problem, alhough it may leave you weak to more things.

I have taken into consideration everything that you have suggested, Sylveon was heavily considered by me when it came to choosing a fairy type. I had simply chosen Clefable as something different to try. However I believe you are probably right in saying that Sylveon would be a better team player for my team with wish and heal bell support. I will switch them around and give it some testing.
With latios, I was also torn between life Orb and White herb. I Like having the option to Draco meteor twice in a row, however Life orb may be better for the long run battles so I may switch back, I will also give HP fire a go as I will lose the flamethrower from clefable.
Sand Rush excadrill I feel is not such a big threat as like you said three of my pokemon would have to be weakened for it to get anywhere and because it is sand rush,EQ would not hit Latios.
Thanks for the suggestions and I will try it over next day or so and see how the changes effect my team :)
