Rebirth of the forgotten Phoenix!

Since the release of HeartGold and Souldsilver ho-oh had became one of the top-tier threats in ubers.I built many teams but none of them utilizes ho-oh to his greatest potential.This team centres around ho-oh and uses ho-oh as the star of the team.This is one of my most successful team built.It is a variant of stall and stalling in ubers is hard.There are no viable spinners other than forretress and the only spin blockers in ubers are the giratina versions.Giratina-A gets walled by forretress and used as set up bait while giratina-O can be stopped by light screen and payback forretress unless it has hidden power fire.Therefore,instead of using spin blockers,this team uses ho-oh to destroy forretress or use it to set up a substitute.The team originally leads with groudon but was switched to ho-oh as groudon became an increasingly popular lead in ubers.As ho-oh has the advantage over groudon unless it has stone edge,I decided to use ho-oh as the lead.

The reason ho-oh was chosen as the lead is because ho-oh usually scares of groudons and ohkoes deoxys-s that does not have a focus sash which can still be ruined by a burn.Deoxys-a is ohkoed and not even thunder can ohko ho-oh.This ho-oh packs enough hp to survive a seismic toss from blissey under a substitute.Max attack is used to ramp up ho-oh's attack although leftovers is used instead of life orb so that ho-oh can take more hits and live longer.With leftovers ho-oh is not force to roosts as often.The power loss from life orb is not as significant as ho-oh can still 2hko most kyogres,palkias,and latias.Giratina walls this set completely however.This is where my other team members deal with ho-oh's counters.Ho-oh can easily counter scizor and lucario without stone edge.Forretress is used to provide spin support to ho-oh as stealth rock really dampers ho-oh's tanking abilities.Groudon can easily take thunders,stone edges and outrages for ho-oh and set up rocks while ho-oh can easily take grass knots and ice beams for groudon in return.Ho-oh's special defense cannot be ignored as it can easily stop mewtwo without thunder.Latias and blissey can take the special hits from kyogres with ease with the exception of specs kyogre which latias usually deals with.Groudon can also provide the a favorable weather for ho-oh.

Groudon is the team's main physical wall and with that heavy defense investment,he can easily scout moves form garchomp,rayquaza and lucario.Groudon can easily take rock attacks aimed at ho-oh and electric attacks for kyogre and ho-oh with impunity.Physical rayquaza is usually stopped by this groudon by paralysing it and dragon clawing it.Groudon acts as a buffer for bulk up dialga too and counters most versions of dialga easily barring specs or life orb versions.Groudon can easily take an ice beam from lugia with ease and paralysing it in return so that it can no longer wall ho-oh effortlessly with a fast reflect and roosts.Groudon takes hits from scizor easily and can take physical hits for blissey easily.Physical hits too powerful for forretress to handle such as choice banded stone edge can easily be directed to groudon.Groudon provides weather control for the team and can easily take rain abusers such as kabutops without many problems.The EV spread is simple for the most part. It survives 2 CB Outrages from Jolly Rayquaza-perhaps the strongest you'll ever see in ubers.

Being the only viable spinner in ubers,forretress was selected to give ho-oh support by spinning away rocks and entry hazards.Forretrerss can easily take most physical attacks for ho-oh and blissey such as outrages and use the time to set up my own entry hazards.Giratina is nothing more than set up bait for forretress and of it tries to block the spin,i can get all the entry hazards on the opponent's field.Special defense evs are given to allow forretress to take the many special hits which it resists better such as ice beams and dragon pulses.Garchomps that try to kill ho-oh with stone edge can easily be walled by forretress if it is scarf.Forretrerss can also use blissey and lugia as set up bait as there is little they can do unless they pack unusually moves like flamethrower or weather ball.Forretress can easily take dragon attacks aimed at latias with ease.fire attacks can easily be soaked by both ho-oh and kyogre.

As much as I hate using WishBliss due to it being nearly impossible to get in the cartridges (especially with good IVs and nature), Shoddy Battle has it there, and might as well use it.Blissey is the heart and soul of any stall team wheter in ubers or standard play. On a team that makes a lot of switches, Blissey is practically necessary to sponge hits from the likes of Choice Specs Dialga and Scarf Palkia. Blissey passes Wishes around, especially to Giratina-O, who lacks a form of recovery and would very much appreciate this. Seismic Toss for reliable damage against Mewtwo and Darkrai, while Toxic is almost mandatory so I can get rid of Lati@s. I am considering of changing this set to SToss/Toxic/Ice Beam/Softboiled, simply because without Ice Beam I cannot touch Ghosts and Rayquaza/Garchomp suddenly loves me (though the latter probably eats a Toxic Spikes). Ice Beam also does something to Giratina-O, even if it's only 22%.Blissey can easily sponge special hits for groudon without breaking a sweat and provided wish support to the team.Special dragon hits aimed at latias can easily be directed to blissey.Blissey is not known as the best special wall in the game for nothing as even the special attacking monsters in ubers find blissey to be annoying especially with toxic spikes around even specs kyogre and darkrai can be outstalled to death.

This is the late game sweeper, and Rest sucks without Sleep Talk. It may seem so against offense, but it aids very strongly against set up pokemon such as opposing Swords dance lucario and groudon.Remained asleep for two turns allow them to set up and ohko kyogre the turn it wakes up. Kyogre is the second weather inducer, blocking sunny day abuse. Combined with Groudon, the two creates a powerful fort that cuts down on practically ANY weather abuse. So no more Ho-oh, Heatran, and Shiftry (even though Kyogre eats a Grass Knot) plowing through my team. Out of all the sets possible, I decided to go for the Calm Minder because it seems to cause a lot of pain in today's metagame, as Palkia can not stop it easily. Scarf Palkia is especially harassed as it is forced to use Thunder to even have a shot to break through this, and they usually don't spam Thunders because Groudon is present. That combined with Spikes, Stealth Rock, and poison damage from Toxic Spikes will end Palkia's life quickly while Kyogre could be yawning at Palkia's attempts to eliminate it. Kyogre is extremely tough to kill due to its typing and 140 base Special Defense.Sleeptalk is crucial to prevent things like ho-oh and lucario to 2hko kyogre while asleep without risks.Palkia appears to wall it at first but after a few calm minds even palkia finds it difficult to kill kyogre and eventually loses tp repeated assaults.Kyogre counters opposing groudon and some ho-oh's for the team.Water attacks from scarf palkia can easily be soaked by this mighy whale.Kyogre is the king of ubers after all and after just one calm mind palkia and latias fails to 2hko with thunder.Groudon and lucario cannot risk switching in while kyogre is asleep as sleeptalk may select surf and kill groudon or lucario easily.Furthermore,kyogre can easily take ice beams aimed at latias and groudon all day.Kyogre also stops mewtwo to an extend. --

With her incredible hold item, Soul Dew, Palkia’s Life Orbed Spacial Rend also fails to OHKO. Using her Speed, she can threaten an OHKO on Palkia with Dragon Pulse before Palkia delivers a finishing blow. As for Kyogre, she stands without fear as its Ice Beam only does approximately 48% maximum, allowing Latias to Calm Mind and then Grass Knot or Thunder Kyogre into oblivion.Latias can easily counter kyogre,ho-oh's greatest nemesis.With calm mind latias can set up alongside kyogre before finishing it off with a mighty thunder.Latias is the only true counter to specs kyogre.Even scizor hates thunders and the standard uber scizor is 2hko by thunder.Even palkia's spacial rend fails to ohko thanks to the boosts from soul dew.Using latias allows the team to be safe from most kyogres and giratina-o.Forretress can take the physical hits aimed at latias and latias can take fire and water attacks for forretress with ease.Latias also somewhat counters mix rayquaza and non scarf chomps without haban berry for the team.Lugia can also be brought down by latias with a boosted thunder.Forretress is also 2hkoed by latias leaving the little shell no time to set up.

This team worked well for me so far.This team still faces major problems with dragon dance rayquaza once groudon is down.This team covered most threats but rayquaza proves to be very dangerous to the team after some testing.Darkrai is stopped by kyogre or ho-oh after someone is slept.Latias is chosen over palkia to stopped calm mind kyogre easier as palkia loses to calm minded kyogre while latias can set up with kyogre and resists thunder.This particular team plays around with entry hazards althoufh there are no phazers,ho-oh and forretress will be always forcing switches.Major threats such as kygore and darkrai are worn out by repeated toxic spikes damage while giratina hates taking spikes and stealth rock damage each time it switches in on ho-oh.Summing all up,this team is quite successful although some revamps maybe needed to improve the mistakes and weaknesses.I am also thinking about lugia over latias but latias is too useful for kyogre.If there are any major threats spotted,please inform me.try to make suggestions on how to improve the team.​
