[OVERVIEW]

While Regieleki is mostly a terrible Pokemon in DOU, it does have an incredibly minor niche as a workable hyper offense attacker alongisde Tapu Koko. Boasting a blazing base 200 Speed that lets it outrun even Kingdra under rain and Choice Scarf users such as Urshifu-R and Genesect, Regieleki blitzes through opposing offensive teams if enabled with Electric Terrain, as Regieleki's Transistor-boosted STAB attacks become quite lethal even to bulky and resistant foes, with Rising Voltage able to OHKO Incineroar, Dragapult, Mew, and Naganadel. The problem, of course, is how Regieleki is easily checked defensively as it has absolutely no usable coverage moves, leaving it easily answered by Zeraora, Ground-types, such as Zygarde and Landorus, and the metagame's bulky Grass- and Dragon-types, such as Rillaboom, Ferrothorn, Amoonguss, and Kyurem-B. Urshifu-R and Kyurem-B are thus solid partners, as they can each cover some of these threats while also being strong attackers in line with Regieleki's aggressive playstyle. Still, the pairing with Tapu Koko is optimistic at best, because Tapu Koko is generally also a suboptimal pick in the DOU metagame, and other Terrain setters are quite omnipresent, especially with a top DOU Pokemon in Rillaboom being a particularly hard counter. Regieleki is ultimately often dead weight, its high Speed invalidated and frailty exposed by the prevalence of Fake Out and priority moves, speed control such as Tailwind and Trick Room, and its own inability to threaten anything with a non-Electric-type attack.

[SET]
name: Mono-Electric
move 1: Rising Voltage
move 2: Volt Switch
move 3: Electroweb
move 4: Thunderbolt / Electro Ball
item: Choice Specs
ability: Transistor
nature: Modest
evs: 4 HP / 44 Def / 232 SpA / 228 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* When paired with Tapu Koko, Rising Voltage is Regieleki's main attacking option, its massive power devastating most foes.

* Volt Switch lets Regieleki deal significant chip damage in positions where it can't threaten a KO while transitioning to teammates with a better match-up.

* Electroweb doubles as a handy, albeit weak, spread attack as well as immediate, reliable speed control thanks to Regieleki's high Speed, useful for letting teammates follow up for a quick KO.

* The final moveslot serves as a last resort attacking option for when Regieleki can't rely on Rising Voltage. Thunderbolt is preferred for its consistency and better usability against faster offensive teams, while Electro Ball is an aggressive option against slower team compositions, being stronger against threats around Incineroar's Speed tier and lower.

* The offensive investment with a Modest nature maximizes Regieleki's damage output while still outrunning Choice Scarf users, such as Genesect, Urshifu-R, and Galarian Zapdos. The Defense and HP investment let it survive Rillaboom's Grassy Glide. An alternative spread of 4 HP / 44 Def / 244 SpA / 216 Spe with a Timid nature can be used to let Regieleki outrun Modest Kingdra under rain.

The writer cannot actively recommend a different Regieleki set without harboring feelings of severe guilt, so please consider this section empty. If you really wanted to, a set with Focus Sash is usable to allow Regieleki to trade damage once, but this significantly cuts into its damage output. Dear reader, consider yourself warned.

[OVERVIEW]
  • It might be worth mentioning Hail as a partner alongside Kyurem-B and Urshifu-R as it is the only structure Regieleki has ever seen success on, but it is also a very niche playstyle that might be too specific for an analysis!
  • It's a bit awkward mentioning Urshifu-R as a solid partner after you mention Grass-types being good checks to Regieleki so maybe reword that part slightly.
  • "Urshifu-R and Kyurem-B are thus solid partners, as they can cover these threats while being quite good at maintaining momentum" Reword this part because it seems a bit sketch!
[SET]
  • You can explicitly mention how Electroweb from Regieleki is actually not bad Speed Control because of its ridiculous base speed.

Great work, QC 1/2

  • Mention Zeraora as a check since that's also immune to all Regieleki's moves.
  • Emphasise that Tapu Koko is also really bad and that needing to use it too further drags Regieleki down.

  • Quiver Dance Volcarona is a slightly rogue mention, I'd replace it with Choice Scarf Zapdos-G which is more common and fits in better IMO.
