VGC Regulation H ArchaRain Team Idea

Hello everybody!
As we all know its currently regulation h season so yours truly had to come up with some sort of viable team to play with
Now this regulation is well known to be difficult especially with team building since there are like 10+ viable team structures if not WAY more
A friend and i tried to make a sun and rain team work and i picked the sun team
Unfortunately my very cool idea didnt seem to be soo cool and awesome after all since i pretty much couldnt make it work
So i abandoned the sun team and tried to build a rain team and heres the final product
Keep in mind that im still a pretty casual vgc player so the team might not be so perfect and most EV spreads were just made out of gut feeling since im not so good at those atm

Introduction of the "Wir sind nicht aus Zucker digga" Team (Name is based on a german joke btw)

Archie (Archaludon) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Stamina
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 188 HP / 20 Def / 100 SpA / 196 SpD / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Dragon Pulse
- Body Press
- Flash Cannon
- Electro Shot

Our favourite bridge electro cannon is the main man of the team providing good offensive pressure with its already good base SpA and with rain electro shots giving its already good special attacks a further boost
The addition of body press also provides versatility in the physical department
Tera Fairy to be immune to dragon type moves like scale shot dnite and to resist opposing body press/ cc
I gave Archie the assault vest so it can maximize its bulk
Added Dragon Pulse and Flash Cannon to hit opposing dragon/ fairy types for good damage (and also the occasional ice type (cough cough alolan ninetales)
Now the main issue of being a casual vgc player is that i do NOT know how to make good EV spreads so i would appreciate some advice regarding it
I just tried to make it bulky and strong and made it slow so it could work better tr (idrk why i did that tbh its been a while since i was done with the team and looking back the speed spread doesnt seem to be optimal)

1758717406067.png

Commander P (Pelipper) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Drizzle
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 80 HP / 36 Def / 140 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wide Guard
- Weather Ball
- Hurricane
- Tailwind

Now to the rain part of the rain core Pelipper aka Commander P
This is a pretty basic Pelipper set so i dont think it needs much elaboration
Tailwind for speed control and weather ball + hurricane for damage support
I also went back and forth between W-Guard and Protect but eventually decided to stick with W-Guard cuz goddamn do i hate psyspam man
Tera ghost to ignore fake out
I also went back and forth between sash and c-cloak and decided to stick with sash since i value pelipper staying alive more for this team than the upsides of c-cloak (and this is coming from someone who lost a set to a dire claw sleep into pelipper in G1 and G2)

I tried to make it fast, strong a little bit bulky with this ev spread but again mostly out of gut feeling

1758718037705.png

Ghost of Hisui (Basculegion) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Swift Swim
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 56 Def / 68 SpD / 132 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Last Respects
- Wave Crash
- Aqua Jet
- Flip Turn

The third member of the rain trio Basculegion is the main attacker of the rain mode
Basculegion provides good offensive pressure with swift swim boosted speed and with its good attack stast boosted with choice band
Tera water to boost its water attacks
Tried to make it a bit bulky while still mantaining its speed and attack

1758718288876.png

Angy Monke (Annihilape) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Defiant
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 204 HP / 92 Atk / 44 Def / 36 SpD / 132 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Rage Fist
- U-turn
- Final Gambit

Annihilape is the Joker of the team
Some pokemon from the opposing side tend to get on my nerves some time so why not add a pokemon that can delete most of them with one attack?
Jokes aside scarf gambit really pressures the opponent which gives me more tools to work with during games
cc and rage fist for further good damage and u turn to pivot out of bad match ups
I made it tera fire cuz i remember it being good on annihiliape especially against the fairy types but im not too sure if its the best one
Tried to make it bulky while keeping it strong and fast

1758719329978.png

Winnie the Pooh (Ursaluna) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 48 Def / 36 SpA
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Protect
- Earthquake
- Facade
- Headlong Rush

Wanting to add a tr mode to this team to add more versatility i ended up adding Ursaluna cuz its objectively one of the best tr mons there is
Since its a tr mode mon its set is also pretty simple and straight forward so it doesnt need much elaboration and i even did damage calcs for this one iirc so the ev spreads ARENT 100% gut feeling for once :)))

1758719563383.png

Goat (Amoonguss) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 50
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 220 HP / 220 Def / 68 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Spore
- Rage Powder
- Sludge Bomb
- Protect

Now to the last member and the main support pokemon of this team
Amoonguss is here to disrupt the opponent with Spore and to keep its teammates alive with Rage Powder
Rocky Helmet to catch population bomb/ beat up mausehold off guard, to provide added damage to physical attackers and to break the occasional focus sash
sludge bomb to hit opposing fairy and grass types for super effective damage and protect to keep it alive
Made it tera dark so it cant get taunted by prankster mons

Made it bulky and as slow as possible so it can thrive under tr
Update: Replaced Amoonguss with Sinistcha (see at the replies below)

Looking back there are definetly a lot of flaws and space for improvement but well thats why im here!
The main issue probably lies with the ev spreads since i did most of then with gut feeling

Here are some replays so yall can see how i play with this team

Nice write-up! Regulation H really does feel super overwhelming with so many viable cores. Sun can be tough to get right, so I think switching to rain was a solid call it’s usually a bit more straightforward. Don’t worry too much about EV spreads, everyone starts out with gut feelings and then fine-tunes with practice or calcs. Curious to see your rain team’s final version what’s your main core

Helloo
First of all thanks!
Im gonna be trying to make this team as good as it can be since i want to have one fully viable and optimized regulation h team like i somewhat had in reg j so im definetly gonna be improving it as time goes on
That question got me thinking a little bit
Archa, Pelipper and Basculegion are definetly the main rain core but besides that its mostly just Archa and Pelipper since i leave out Basculegion sometimes
Archa and Pelliper are in like 99% of my games
I was gonna send replays to give yall a better understanding of how i play like but i sadly lost those but im most likely gonna send some as the days go by - Edit: Done
I hope i could answer your question and have a nice day!

Update:
I realized that Amoonguss wasnt as good as i thought it would be and i often struggled to implement it during games and game plans in general so i switched it out for a Pokemon that has wayyy better synergy with both Archie and Ursa
Our favourite haunted cup of tea...

1759225053917.png

Sinistcha-Masterpiece @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Hospitality
Level: 50
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 28 Def / 20 SpA / 208 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rage Powder
- Shadow Ball
- Trick Room
- Matcha Gotcha

This cute fella functions as the TR setter for my trick room mode and to disrupt other opponents in their TR
Rage Powder to keep its allies save
Matcha Gotcha to keep itself healthy and to potentially burn a physical attacker
For the last move slot it was between either Life Dew or Shadow Ball but i prefer my Pokemon to be able to put out atleast some kind of damage at all times
Made it specially and physically bulky and gave it the Sitrus Berry so it stays alive for a long time and gave it a little bit of SpA to make it stronger
Again my EV spreads here are just out of gut feeling and lack actualy damage cals which i gotta do atleast at one point
Tera dark so it cant get ragebaited by prankster mons

Im still gonna be fine-tuning this team as time goes on but thats it for now

Heyo, solid team! Rain is a really dominant archetype, especially when paired with a good Trick Room mode. Although I do think the team is great, there is, as per your words, room for improvement.

As I watched the replays of the set you lost, I couldn't help hut think how much easier it would have been for you if you had Safety Goggles on Annihilape instead of Choice Scarf, which is the biggest change I want to point out. You probably want be wanting U-turn anymore; something like Protect or Coaching work in that spot. You can alter the EVs too; if you have Final Gambit, always run max HP on Annihilape, and run a good amount of speed too; you'll need it. Safety Goggles here will allow you to better fare into Amoonguss, something I noticed was an issue for your team.

While I understand the motive, I don't think Shadow Ball Sinistcha is it. You already have a lot of anti-Gholdengo and anti-Annihilape Pokemon (Ursaluna, Annihilape, Pelipper to name) and Life Dew would be a lot better for ally Archaludon, considering this team feels like it tries to keep it alive, kind of like CM Terapagos in Regulation G.

Why are there 36 SpA EVs on Ursaluna!?!?

Pelipper should be running max speed max special attack (Modest or Timid, your choice); bulk doesn't really matter when you are carrying Focus Sash.

56 Def EVs are not possible on Basculegion, move 4 to HP. Additionally, 48 Def EVs are not possible pm Ursaluna (well I mean they are possible just not optimized)

Anyways, the team looks pretty solid! I think it would be nice if you could send some more replays (if you want, don't feel obliged to do so!) so others and I can further analyze your team and help perfect it to the best it can be!

gl hf trainer!
