Reign of The Slaking

Reign of the Slaking
A Doubles Team

Slaking has always been a pokemon that I’ve seen as a treasure but is one of the biggest bitches to find an easy way of using him. There is the mummy pursuit strategy that I’ve seen used, but I feeling that it’s too much work for a low paying job, and it can be countered and really unpredictable. I’ve used it as a revenge killer with a scarf, but other pokes can do the job better. SO finally I remember a strategy I came up with or saw somewhere, which is a Skill swap poke paired with Slaking in doubles, the skill swapper of choice for me is Gardevoir.

Slaking @ Life Orb
Ability: Truant
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Sucker Punch
- Body Slam

It’s Slaking, I like it, it’s seriously strong and it will take a hit and will dominate the opponent. ‘Nuf Said. Also, when the skill swap strategy is put into use, don’t switch this bad boy, he can take care of himself extremely well or die trying.

Gardevoir @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Trace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Skill Swap
- Moonblast
- Psychic
- Trick

I find this is the best way to utilize the strategy. Gardevoir gets the truant gone first so Slaking can proceed to do his deal. Plus with the scarf active and Gard having Skill Swap, it can take away the pesky abilities that would other wise not let you do the damage you want (i.e. Intimidate and Prankster) or would annihilate your team (i.e Huge Power and Parental Bond). After the second skill swap is used switch out, loose the ability and then proceed to wipe out enemies with Moonblast and Psychic or trick away your item to hinder pesky walls useless.

Aerodactyl (M) @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang
- Tailwind

Sun is something I knew would be a problem for this team and I needed something that I knew would counter it. After much testing, I came to the conclusion Mega-Aerodactyl is and ideal choice. With Rock Slide and Earthquake to damage both foes it could definitely handle the fire type sweepers of sun teams, and with Fire Fang, it gets a boost from sun and tough claws to tear the grass sweepers a new one. But chlorophyll would be a problem for this doubles team, so Tailwind is the next logical step, letting Aero out speed Chlorophyll sweepers.

MourningWood (Trevenant) (M) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Curse
- Horn Leech
- Protect
- Earthquake

(Side note: MourningWood is my personal favorite nickname ever on any pokemon ever made, ever) Trevenant is a pokemon that has some serious utility to it and is my Non-Wall-Breaker Wall-Breaker. With Curse, no Blissey, Cresselia, Clefable or any other wall is safe from Trevenant’s touch. With Harvest Sitrus and Horn Leech, the curse is never an issue and Trevenant will stay full health for a majority of the game. And then there’s earthquake which gives me good coverage and it pairs well with my M-Aero and Mandibuzz.

Mandibuzz (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Big Pecks
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 SDef
Impish Nature
- Whirlwind
- Knock Off
- Roost
- Taunt

Mandibuzz is a wall that has finally become fully appreciated this gen and deserves it. It takes hits like a Super Saiyan and will piss off every Klefki user and Wish/Roost staller available. Whirlwind gets rid of the boosters, Knock off gets rid off the pesky sweepers, taunt stops the set up whores like Klefki and Smeargle and the Roost lets it stall shit out when it’s paired with MourningWood. This thing is the teams entre support apparatus in a nut shell.

Scizor (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Knock Off
- Brick Break

Scizor is my secondary sweeper just in case that loveable Gorilla MOFO goes down. But this thing is hear to also take care of the fairies that will get annoying like Azumarill , pre-setup clefale, Gardevoir, Granbull, Slurpuff, etc. This is a basic Siczor set that works very well, that’s it.

Give me your input on how I can improve this team as well as what I should replace. Mainly the Scizor, I’m not really feeling it when I use it, or atleast give me some set changes that’ll make it better/more fun to use.
