Relentless Assault

Hey there everyone! So for just short of every game I've ever played I always subscribed to the relentless assault tactic; never giving your opponent even a second. I like going fast and hitting hard, so I made a team accordingly. While I'm loving what I've made (peaking at 1574), I feel the team could use some constructive criticism, so here we go!

Breakdown

rotom-wash.gif

Woosh (Rotom-Wash) @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Spd / 212 Def
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Rest
- Will-O-Wisp

Rotom-Wash was one of my single favorite Pokemon to use in 5th gen OU so I went ahead and brought him back for 6th gen. His natural bulk, attack, and fantastic typing/ability make him useful for a variety of reasons. His physical defense focus serves to check huge threats like Talonflame, Mamoswine, and Scizor and potentially leave them with a nice burn before Volt Switching out or hitting hard with Hydro Pump. He also works as a great lead due to Volt Switch.

gliscor.gif

No (Gliscor) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 32 Def / 232 Spd
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Protect
- Substitute
I'm sure you all know this guy. He has fantastic defense, good typing, and an insanely great ability which all combine to make him a nightmare if you're not prepared. If he isn't toxic stalling one thing then he's earthquaking another. Several matches have been won with this guy alone because the opponent had run out of priority water or ice moves. Plus, he's my favorite pokemon.

azumarill.gif

Get Wrecked (Azumarill) @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 224 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 28 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Superpower
Who would have thought this cute little guy would turn in to such an effective dragon killer? With a great ability and his new fairy typing, Azumarill is a fantastic way to scare off those pesky dragons. He hits extremely hard and can revenge kill quite nicely with an Aqua Jet if Pinsir isn't quite feeling like making an appearance yet.

pinsir-mega.gif

DickPinch (Pinsir) @ Pinsirite
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Quick Attack
- Earthquake

The star player of this team, Mega Pinsir is just a monster. With an absurd attack stat, great speed, and great move coverage, this guy can often sweep entire teams if set up correctly. He can be used to revenge kill even pokemon with high remaining HP or come in at just the right time to Swords Dance it up and sweep. He also serves as an absolute counter to Mega-Venusaur (who he will outspeed and OHKO almost without fail at +0) who had previously been giving my team a run for it's money.

conkeldurr.gif

Smack (Conkeldurr) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab
- Mach Punch
My pseudo special wall who hits like a truck, Conkeldurr has gotten me out of a lot of sticky situations. With assault vest and his Sp.Def investments, he can take attacks fairly well and retaliate with Drain Punch to recover what was lost. Additionally, Knock Off and Poison Jab are often not predicted well and can take out or cripple common switch ins like Ghosts, Fairies, and Gliscor. Mach punch serves as another way to revenge kill or to reverse a situation in which he'd be taken out by a faster pokemon.

latios.gif

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Psyshock
- Defog
After ages of experimenting, I finally found a hazard remover that I like. With the only pokemon on my team who caring about rocks being Pinsir, there's plenty of time for me to find an opportunity to switch this guy in for a defog. And unlike most other "spinners" I've played around with, this guy has a second extremely effective role as special attacker. With insane speed and very high special attack, he can come in and obliterate with Draco Meteor or Psyshock.

Checks and Counters that I've noticed and would love to get feedback on:

Scizor -
Honestly, there isn't a whole lot anyone can really do against a properly set up Scizor. But if Rotom-Wash is out of the picture and he's at +2 or higher, my team can be in serious trouble.

Latios - If Azumarill is taken out there is absolutely nothing I can do to check this guy without sacrificing one of my pokemon in the effort. With Psyshock unfortunately KOing my pseudo special wall, I'm usually forced to wait until the -2 from Draco Meteor before I can effectively counter attack

Vaporeon - With my team having an emphasis on physical attacks, Vaporeon can be a major thorn in my side with scald, wish, and protect. Rotom's Volt Switch isn't powerful enough to take it out, Gliscor is useless, and if Pinsir is hit with a burn things get aggrivating.

Rotom-W - One of my favorite pokemon turned against me! While I haven't seen a whole lot of these guys used lately, they can still pose a very high hazard to my team with Will-O-Wisp and a weakness to a type I don't have.

Hey there! I really like the look of your team, and I'm gonna try and give a quick rate for it.

I think your Wisy-Washy is sound, but you should consider placing 44 Speed EVs on it so you will outspeed Jolly max. Speed Azumarill, and burn it before any damage is done. I would also increase the Speed on your Gliscor to 232, as that lets you outspeed a neutral-natured M-Garchomp, letting you stall that threat out also. Also, what are the Speed EVs for on Azumarill? I personally only run 28 to outspeed 0 Speed Tyranitar. Also, unless your team struggles against Ferrothorn (which I don't think it does), I would switch Superpower to Knock Off for its utility value. Your Conkeldurr could also use 20 Speed to outspeed 0 Speed Hippowdon. Also, I think Ice Punch is in general more beneficial than Poison Jab is, as that lets you take care of the myriad of Dragons in the tier. Also, I don't think HP Fire is all that necessary on Latios, as Ferrothorn is quite well taken care of and Scizor is not, I think, as big threats as you make it out to be. I would probably use Thunderbolt in place, as that offers the best neutral coverage, and still hits Scizor reasonably hard.

I think that your team is defensively sound, and can quite well check most of the relevant metagame, but I think your team seriously needs SR somewhere. The problem is none of the Pokemon can effectively put it down, as replacing a Pokemon has consequences on the overall team synergy. Although your core of Rotom-W and Gliscor is sound, one physical attacker than can go past that is Terrakion, so you should watch out for him. Also, M-Gyarados can dismantle that core with Waterfall + Mold Breaker EQ. but overall, solid team!

Thanks for the rate!

I'm going to go ahead and take your advice with the speed EVs minus conkeldurr because I've actually yet to see Hippodown used. I didn't spend a ton of time calculating them originally so that'll probably help out. The thunderbolt on Latios is probably a better idea too.

I will disagree with the Ice Punch on Conkeldurr though. What I like about having Knock Off and Poison Jab is most people seem to assume I'll have one or the other. I've seen countless people throw out a ghost type and then a fairy type (or vice versa) because they'll assume my carrying Knock off means I don't have Poison Jab.

Terrakion is definitely a threat to my team, but I oddly haven't seen many teams using him lately. Same goes for Gyarados, who Conkeldurr can effectively take out as well.
