**Gourgeists** Max defense versions can switch in on any of Assault Vest Relicanth's moves and either cripple it with Will-o-wisp or 2HKO with Seed Bomb. It cannot switch into a Head Smash if a boosting Item is held though.
**Torterra** Can switch into any of Relicanth's moves and OHKO with Wood Hammer
**Grass types / moves in general** Most grass moves can OHKO or 2HKO Relicanth due to Relicanth's quad weakness to grass moves. However, very few can switch into Relicanth's Head Smash, and many can't even OHKO due to Relicanth's bulk.
**Poliwrath** Resists both of Relicanth's STAB moves, including an immunity to water, and can phaze it with circle throw, wasting valuable turns of rain if swift swim.
**Superpower** Many pokemon have access to superpower for coverage, so look out for that if you are using Relicanth.
########
- Has access to Rock Head and Head Smash
- Great physical Bulk.
- Access to Stealth Rock.
- Can use Swift Swim with rain support to become a fast attacker instead of a bulky one.
- Has good special movepool, but poor special attack.
- Lacks recovery and physical boosting moves.

move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Zen Headbutt / Double Edge
ability: Rock Head
item: Choice Band
evs: 252 HP/ 252 Atk/ 4 Spe OR 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 Def
nature: Adamant
Moves
========
- Head Smash is a very powerful STAB move that, thanks to Rock Head, doesn't inflict recoil damage on Relicanth. It can 2HKO Musharna and has a chance to OHKO after Rock and Spikes.
- Waterfall is a strong secondary STAB, although Aqua Tail can be used if you'd rather have power than accuracy and flinches.
- Earthquake is great coverage alongside Head Smash, forming a more powerful version of EdgeQuake.
- Zen Headbutt allows you to hit fighting and poison types super effectively, but Head smash still deals more damage to anything that doesn't resist rock, and Earthquake hits all pure poison types harder anyways.
- Double Edge is more powerful against most targets, and hits Poliwrath harder than anything besides Zen Headbutt. Either way, you probably won't use either of these moves often.
Set Details
========
- 252 HP evs allow Relicanth to be very bulky, while 252 speed evs allow him to outspeed many threats.
- 252 Attack evs and an Adamant nature allow Relicanth to hit as hard as possible.
Usage Tips
========
- Head Smash deals heavy damage to most pokemon, so that will be used most of the time. A neutral Head Smash deals more damage than a super effective earthquake, and a super effective waterfall barely outdamages it.
- If your opponent sends in something you can't hit hard, it is usually best to switch to something that can handle it.
Team Options
========
- Relicanth will switch in and out a lot, so it is a good idea to have some sort of hazard control.
- Sticky Webbers can provide Relicanth with webs, allowing relicanth to outspeed uninvested base 80s or max neutral 100s if Relicanth is max speed.. They also cover up Relicanth's quad grass weakness, with a quad (or half if kricketune) resistance.
- A grass type in general type is a great option on a team with Relicanth, as Relicanth can easily tank poison, fire and flying moves aimed at the grass type, and the grass type can take grass, electric, and ground moves aimed at Relicanth.
Physical Lead
########
name: Physical Lead
move 1:Stealth Rock
move 2: Head Smash
move 3: Earthquake/ Waterfall/ Toxic
move 4: Earthquake/ Waterfall/ Toxic
ability: Rock Head
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
nature: Impish
Moves
========
- Stealth Rock allows you to set up entry hazards.
- Head Smash still hits hard, even without much investment.
- Earthquake forms powerful coverage with Head Smash.
- Waterfall gives Relicanth dual STAB.
- Toxic allows you to poison other walls, as well as racking up residual damage.
Set Details
========
- Max HP and Defense allow Relicanth to be extremely physically bulky.
- The extra attack allows Relicanth to hit slightly harder with Head Smash.
- It has enough power to 2HKO Carracosta after Rocks, as well as having enough defense to usually survive a Stone Edge.
Usage Tips
========
- This Relicanth will usually be a lead, however it can be saved for later game if you want to preserve it.
- Relicanth can be switched into most neutral physical attacks due to its impressive bulk.
Team Options
========
- Teams that need Stealth Rock support or a physical wall can benefit from using Relicanth, as it has great physical bulk.
- Grass types still work well with Relicanth, covering up each others weaknesses. A physically defensive Serperior forms a nice defensive core, as they resist most of each others weaknesses.
- A spin blocker can prevent Stealth Rocks from being removed, but defog can still get rid of them.
########
- Relicanth gets access to Rock Polish, so you can try to sweep with it that way if you want. With max speed, neutral nature, it outspeeds the entire unboosted metagame other than max speed Ninjask after a Rock Polish.
- Rest can be used if you want recovery It also gets access to Sleep Talk.
- Relicanth gets Swift Swim, but is mostly outclassed by Carracosta in that regard.
- Relicanth does get Calm Mind, as well as numerous good special moves, but base 45 Special Attack still isn't going much of anywhere.
- Body Slam can be used if you want paralysis, although it is less powerful than Double Edge or even Return.
- A combination of Sturdy and Stealth Rock can guarantee Relicanth gets up rocks. You miss out on recoiless Head Smash though.
- If you're running Aqua Tail and/ or really don't want to miss, Wide Lens is a decent item so that your accuracy is increased.
- Yawn can be used as a pseudo phazing move.
