Reservoir Dogs OU Team

Hello everyone, so this is my first RMT, this is about my third team, but the one that I want to rate first because I have had the most success with it, and I really adapted well to the play style of the team. I have tweaked this for about 2-3 weeks, and I am a good player (not fantastic but I know a good of amount of stuff).

Team Reservoir Dogs

Quick Overview: The basic premise of the team is to get down the spikes with Skarmory, possibly switching into something to scare away threats, start special tanking/attacking with Suicuine. Use Blissey to wall/disable some threats. Use my mixed sweeper, Dragonite to suprise and gain a lead mid game. Porygon becomes my revenge killer, taking out enemy threats. Finally using Scizor to end the game with awesome sweeptastic abilities. But once again, this really varies based off situations but this is the premise of the theme, not the definate strategy.

Meeting the team....

Skarmory @ Joe Cabot (Impish/Keen Eye/Leftovers)
(EV Spread: 252 HP/64 Attack/176 Defense/18 Speed)

Spikes
Whirlwind
Roost
Brave Bird

Skarmory has three principle functions, as most people have guessed from the EV and moves. Spike laying/Tanking/Phazing, it is a pretty standard Skarmory, it has been really succesful so far. Against some leads, I can get a quick 2 layers of spikes or even 3 if I am lucky :). I usually send it back if a Fire pokemon comes out, because I have reliable counters to that, and from my experience Skarmory can come late game to just tank/phaze/Brave Bird me a win from behind. Not to mention, if their are Rapid Spinners, it is always nice to kill them and get Skarmory back to put more Spikes down.
Suicune @ Nice Guy Eddie (Bold/Pressure/Leftovers)
dpmfa245.png

(EV Spread: 252 HP/252 Defense/6 Special Attack)

Calm Mind
Surf
Ice Beam
Roar

So Suicune has also become a staple of my team as another tank/phazer. Now while it may seem like I have too many of these and they are all superfluos, Suicune has the unique ability to Calm Mind to become an offensive power house, and an overall Tank. Roar is simply there to abuse spikes later in the game, and to get threats away since most things can not OHKO this (I haven't done damage calc, but from my experience it has been rare). Surf is a reliable STAB, great accuracy and damage that just knocks things down, and Ice Beam is a great second attack to provide a little more coverage.

Blissey @ Mr. White (Bold/Natural Cure/Leftovers)
(EV Spread: 150 HP/252 Defense/108 Special Attack)

Thunder Wave
Softboiled
Ice Beam
Seismic Toss

A standard Blissey set, that many use. I don't use the Wish set well, and I tried this once on this team, and despite how crazy it seems to have 3 teams and not have a tank team it works. Blissey can just roll through teams, with Wave to cripple, and chipping at their HP with Toss. Softboiled allows her to keep tanking, and allows Spikes to really have an effect with many counters getting hit pretty hard by the Spikes. Yes, I know it is a man's name for a girl pokemon, but to keep intergrity to the movie, his character fit the pokemon the most.

Dragonite @ Mr. Orange (Rash/Inner Focus/Leftovers)
dpmfb149.png

(EV Spread: 112 Attack/196 Speed/202 Speed)

Thunderbolt
Draco Meteor
Roost
Superpower

My mixed sweeper, he is so wonderful for my team because he is able to wall break so many things but at the same time he can take hits. Provides a great coverage with the moveset, uses Roost to heal off hits/Stealth Rock damage. Frankly, if I get it in properly, Meteor for OHKO/Superpower for OHKO, switch out and rinse and repeat has worked pretty well. It outspeeds a lot of water advesaries, and Thunderbolt can reduce an Ice Beam threat. Still a dangerous pokemon, and one that has crushed many teams.

dpmfb474.png

Porygon-Z @ Mr. Pink (Timid/Download/Choice Scarf)
(EV Spread: 6 HP/252 Speed/252 Special Attack)

Tri-Attack
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Hidden Power Fighting

More of a revenge killer then a sweeper, but against the right lineups it can sweep with Tri-Attack. The diverse moveset is for the revenge killing part, so I get pretty good coverage and if I can get them to switch I am getting more spike damage. BoltBeam is a classic and works with great efficency, and Hidden Power Fighting is really for Blissey and others who suffer from that weakness. I can switch into a tank after a revenge kill, so that my Porygon-Z is ready for battle again.

Scizor @ Mr. Blond (Lonely/Technician/Life Orb)
dpmfb212.png

(EV Spread: 34 HP/252 Attack/234 Speed)

Sword Dance
X-Scissor
Bullet Punch
Brick Break

My physical sweeper, my secret weapon, and just the terminator of teams. Obviously he is ridiculously strong with pretty much any set, Sword Dance with Life Orb, and most attacks will bring me either an OHKO or 2HKO. The only maybe controversy here is the lack of Roost/Superpower, I prefer Break because physical attacking is my only option, and with Sword Dance on I don't like switching out, therefore the loss of stats from Superpower hurts. X-Scissor takes the place of Roost, because it adds more variety, destroys psychic's, grass and is a powerful STAB. Bullet Punch is obviously the main STAB used, because of Technician/Life Orb/Sword Dance, it is insanely powerful move.

So that wraps up my team. It is a mix of tanks/sweepers, with pokemon that can multi-task.
Hope you enjoy the Reservoir Dogs.

WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE FUCKING PROFESSIONALS HERE

Props to using MixNite, but it needs Life Orb to guarantee KOs on bulky waters with Thunderbolt + Draco Meteor, an OHKO on Blissey with Superpower, etc. To be honest I would run Fire Blast over Roost to hurt Bronzong, etc. more but if you feel it's absolutely necessary at least consider Fire Blast over Thunderbolt (you lose against bulky waters like Milotic, but whatever).

Blissey needs SpD investment and preferably a Calm nature to wall dangerous threats like Choice Specs Lucario. The standard is Calm 80 / 252 / 176 but if you feel the extra defense is necessary go with Bold. In a metagame without Garchomp, consider Flamethrower over Ice Beam to hit Scizor because Thunderwave effectively neuters Salamence on the switch anyways and Dragonite can always Light Screen.

In my opinion Skarmory isn't a good lead at all. Common Azelf, Infernape, and Heatran leads all force you out which Aerodactyl can always Taunt. Choice Scarf Porygon-Z as your lead at least allows you to outspeed and pound these threats, although you still arguably lose against Metagross (which Skarm can't do jack shit to anyways).

good luck

While I do like the separate portions of your team, some of it doesn't make much sense. The first 3 pokes scream stall team, while the last 2 or three question why they are there.

It seems to me that you're stuck in the days of Advance with spikes as your main tool of residual damage... while there are plenty of other types of residual damage such as toxic spikes, stealth rocks, etc.

Skarm is without a doubt, a physical wall to be reckoned with, but he is by no means a good lead. My suggestion would be to add a lead hippowdon onto your team:

Hippowdon @ Lum Berry/Leftovers
Sand Stream
252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Impish
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Slack Off
-Stone Edge/Ice Fang/Toxic

He would provide a much needed rock resist to your team, and two things a successful Stall Team needs, Stealth Rocks, and a Sandstorm to brew. The Lum Berry is recommended, as hippowdon could take a status move from another lead, set up stealth rock, and be on his way.

Since you are looking to t-wave everything in sight to set up a mixnite sweep, toxic spikes can be left out of this particular stall team. The next thing you need is a reliable rapid spinner who fits your team.

My suggestions are either Starmie or Tentacruel. Without either of these two bulky waters, you're team could have an issue w/ the standard Mix Ape if Suicune is'nt set up.

Tentacruel may seem like a stupid idea, since one of its most attractive options is toxic spikes, but he can make use of the move knock off to say a big
icon_gtfo.gif
to anything staying alive w/ leftovers.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Liquid Ooze
252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpD
Calm
-Rapid Spin
-Knock Off
-Surf
-Sludge Bomb/Ice Beam

Rapid Spin will be extremely important to your team, as enemy spikes/stealth rock will piss you off b/c you WILL need to switch around a lot. I stated Knock Off's use above, and Surf and Sludge Bomb are used as semi-unresisted STAB coverage (damn you shedinja and empoleon). The evs allow him to safely switch into choice scarf heatran and infernape and KO them both. The only horrible thing about tentacruel is his lack of recovery. With the brewing sand storm, and your lack of wish support things could get ugly for the jelly fish.

Then comes Starmie. He won't care about your lack of wish support as he has one of the fastest Recovers in the OU tier. His access to thunderbolt also makes him a very reliable gyrados counter, and Natural Cure allows him to rid himself of poison from toxic spikes.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
136 HP / 156 Def / 216 Spe
Timid
-Rapid Spin
-Recover
-Thunderbolt
-Surf

The EVs allow him to switch in on a gyrados' dragon dance, take the earthquake/stone edge, and KO him w/ thunderbolt as long as stealth rock is in play or if it has received prior Life Orb Damage. Starmie also resists both of Infernapes AND Heatran's STAB moves, so he can switch in and KO with surf. He doesn't provide as much support as Tentacruel would, but Starmie's superior speed allows him to revenge kill gengar and mamoswine.

I would also recomend a different blissey. While blissey serves as a very reliable special wall, it can also serve as a very reliable supporter. Wish is not needed as most of the members of your team can recover damage by themselves, you do need an aromatherpy-ist. May i recomend.....

Blissy @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
252 Def / 40 HP / 216 SpD
Calm
-ThunderWave
-Softboiled
-Seismic Toss
-Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy heals your whole team of status, getting rid of toxics on hippowdons, and burns/thunderwaves on ur skarmory and MixNite. Unlike Advance, you really need to put Special Defense into blissey, or else it can be KO'd by lucario Aura Spheres, and Gengar Focus Blasts. Thunder Wave will aid you in ur quest to stall enough and begin a mixnite sweep. Seismic Toss can be used, as you can just t-wave gengar and kill it off with starmie. He should be easy to switch in as gengar will be too busy fireing off focus blasts rather than shadow balls.

I'm not too sure if suicune is completely necessary on your team, but everyone has their favorite pokes, and having an extra phazor on ur team is never a bad thing. Plus, if MixNite dies due to poor prediction, you still have a good chance to sweep with Calm Cune.

I hope my word-blurb of information helps you! I'm sure ur team will see much success as long as you use it right!
