Now for the teambuilding process..yay for typing it once again >.>

When building my team, i first thought of something to base it around.
I decided to use my favorite pokemon, Starmie! Life Orb Starmie that is.
My team's goal? early or late game sweep with the Ninja star.

ShinyStarmie.png

I knew a starmie wouldn't be enough for a teams offense, so to secure a win condition, and provide handy resistances for the whole team, I presented ResTalk DD gyarados to the team!

ShinyStarmie.png
130.png

Two water types like these guys screams electric weakness. So at first I had used a Scarf Roserade for a long time, but I found that an immunity was much more valuble, thus my lead was born. Gliscor!

Since my team lacks a revenge killer, and doesn't really have room for one in the first place(well i think so), I figured paralysis would be a good way to alleviate that lack on my team. So I used Sub T-Wave Jirachi, and it works wonderfully :)

I needed more immediete physical offense, and Jirachi's best partner is a great example of it. So i present one of the most aggrivating DPP/HGSS OU pokemon, Machamp. Not the lead though, sub+3 set since Gyarados is a restalker and two seemed excessive.

This last part i'm still having a hard time with, and that's the sixth slot. So yawn jolteon was kind of a throw in. no real thought behind that :P

There it is! now for the details....

The_Shiny_Gliscor_by_EddZab.png

Gliscor@ Leftovers
Jolly Nature/ 252HP, 252Speed, 4Defense
Ability: Sand Veil
-Earthquake
-Roost
-Taunt
-Stealth Rock

Gliscor, my favorite lead ever. I dont know why it works so well, but it does. His weaknessed are covered by my team, and he provides two important electric and ground immunties in return. Without this guy, stall would eat my team alive, thanks to taunt. Earthquake is a stab move so he isn't taunt bait himself, and Stealth Rock is essential to my team. The nice thing about Gliscor is that he last almost the entire game. So i always have a taunt in tow as well as his immunities. I don't care about rocks getting spun away as they're easily set right back up due to this guy lasting a long time. :) Probably not going to change anytime soon.

Gyarados_lineart__Shiny_vers_by_Bubby_Bobble.png

Gyarados@ Leftovers
Careful Nature: 248HP, 8Spe, 156def, 96SpD
Ability: Intimidate(durr)
-Dragon Dance
-Waterfall
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

If you haven't used this set, give it a go. It works wonders. It takes so many hits, like random stone edges, ice beams, grass knots. and then can just rest it all off. I usually don't use DD right away, but instead double switch right out. i use his intimidate to soften phyical blows that my team kinda struggles with. and if i do decide to stay in it sure helps him out. Depending on the situation, i may start DD right away and bluff an offensive set, only to take so many hits as he can, rest, and keep the process going as long as they can't 2HKO me. Water absorbers are an issue, but starmie and jolteon somewhat help with that. All in all, a fantastic wall, supporter, and "win conditiion" that my team desperetly needs to keep!

Shining_Starmie_by_Ani_Monster.jpg

Starmie@Life Orb
Timid Nature: 252SpA, 252Spe, 4HP
Ability: Natural Cure
-Hydro Pump
-Rapid Spin
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam

Oh, starmie, I'll save you guys the bad "star of the team" puns and say that he's a very powerful pokemon that greatly helps me out early-mid game. Water/Ice/Electric gives Starmie fantastic coverage, and is often my answer to most bulky waters and anything it can outspeed and greatly damage or hopefully KO. Starmie absolutely destroys teams that can't handle it's coverage and power together, and often takes out half a team all on it's own! Things like Blissey and Snorlax are issues, but Machamp gets (sort of) a free switch in on those two, and Jirachi doesn't mind either of them too much as well.
Note: rapid spin helps out gyarados' longevity and prevents stall's T-Spikes from ruining us. Starmie can take down most spin blockers anyway so ghosts aren't a major issue in that regard.

68.png

Machamp@ Leftovers
Adamant Nature: 128HP, 252Atk, 128Speed
Ability: No Guard
-DynamicPunch
-Substitute
-Stone Edge/Ice Punch
-Payback

Machamp is annoying. We can all agree with that, and what better way to annoy someone, then do inflict status behind a sub? He pairs excellently with Jirachi(next up) and usually doesn't even use Jirachi's paralysis. His EV spread gives him SOMe speed to work with so he can outspeed some fast-ish(lol) walls and confuse them before being forced to switch to a counter. Usually starmie handles the physical walls that machamp can't.
Stone Edge and Ice punch are both options, but I've been using stone edge with success, and ice punch seems redundant when i have starmie's Ice beam in tow. But if it's necessary, i'm open to it!

Jirachi_by_tavington.jpg

Jirachi@ Leftovers
Jolly Nature: 252Atk, 80HP, 176Spe
Ability: serene grace(durr, again.)
-Iron Head
-Substitute
-Fire Punch
-Thunder Wave

Jirachi gives Machamp a run for his money as far as aggrivating goes. This guy provides me with paralysis support(not much since i usually only get 2 'mons paralysed) and general annoyance in the form of flinch hax....with a sub behind it all. I usually paralyze their initial switch in to Jirachi. From there, I either switch if i can't handle it, or stay in and attempt a sub to see what they do, or if they get full para, then i'm in the clear for some iron head flinching fun or another paralyzed switch in, behind a sub! If the attack they're attempting is too threatening to Jirachi, I'll switch to the taem member that can take the said attack and deal with the attacker best. Usually Gyarados switches in to weather physical blows, and takes Jirachi's attracted Ground and Fire attacks.

No picture for you jolteon. :P

Jolteon@ Leftovers
Timid Nature: 252SpA, 252Spe, 4HP
Ability: Volt Absorb
-Thunderbolt
-yawn
-Protect
-hidden Power (Grass 70)

Jolteon is out of place. I feel like he doesn't belong on this team so i use him as filler for my battles. sometimes his yawn+Protect is useful, but generally the rest of my team does their jobs while he sits back. lol

I'd love to have a replacement for him as he doesn't fit in practice and I can't seem to find what WOULD fit!

So there you have it, my team in it's entirety. I know it isnt perfect, but I'd surelove it if I could get help on making it better.

Thanks for reading and give me a rate! :)

THREAT LIST!

Offensive List

Aerodactyl: I've only seen him as a lead, and Gliscor can't do anything to him if he taunts it. I usually switch to jirachi and take it down with t-wave/iron head.

Azelf: same story as lead Aero. except i switch to gyarados since it resists fire blast and intimidate weakens explosion. waterfall to kill it(my most common response) or DD to bluff an offensive set and force a switch because they fear he'd outspeed?

Breloom: usually Starmie takes care of it. Gyarados also resists focus punch and intimidate weakens it's seed bomb. sleep talk means spore isn't a problem.

Dragonite: Starmie and Machamp usually handle it

Electivire: Starmie's Hydro Pump says hello. as does gliscor outspeeding and his SE EQ.

Flygon: Scarf varients i usually scout somehow and depending on it's move, make the appropriate switch in. gyarados and gliscor on EQ, jirachi on outrage, U-turn is trouble as they get an upper hand. And stone edge is handled by jirachi and macamp. Fire punch handled by Gyarados/Starmie.

Gengar: Starmie outspeeds and OHKOs with Hydro Pump. Usually have to come in on a revenge kill after breaking it's Sub.

Gliscor: starmie outspeeds SD varient and OHKOs with Hydro Pump or ICe Beam.

Gyarados: usually Jirachi and Starmie handle it wwith T-Wave to stop it's speed and starmie's SE T-Bolt. my own gyarados can weaken it oo.

Heatran: scarf varients, i siwtch depending on it's move. I have a safe switch in for everything a scarfTran would carry. for other offensive varients, Gliscor And Starmie handle it just fine.

Infernape: Starmie outspeeds all varients and OHKOs with Hydro Pump

Jirachi: scarf varients, i have a safe switch in for any moves it may pack, and gyarados weakens it with his ability.

Jolteon: HP grass varients die to Gliscor, but HP Ice ones are trickier. I usually use Machamp to hope to survive and take it down.

Kingdra: ChestoRest varients are an issue, but usually jirachi parahaxes it.

Lucario: i honestly haven't seen one yet but i'm pretty sure Gliscor can take an ES or CC and outspeed, KO with Earthquake

Machamp: PISSES. ME. OFF. oh my god i hate this thing. usually gyarados forces it to switch. otherwise i have to make tons of switches to beat it as a lead.

Magnezone: Gliscor outspeeds and KOs

Metagross: Lead Varients I taunt and 2HKO w/ EQ. Agiligross is tamed by Jirachi's T-Wave.

Roserade: Starmie's Ice Beam. next?

Scizor: Gyarados own this thing lol. intimidate and resists all it's attacs bar pusrsuit which doesn't do enough. i can usually set up on this guy.

Shaymin: annoying if it's choice scarf. usually jirachi handles it when locked into Seed flare. Gliscor and gyarados can switch in on earth power and HP Ice lets just about anything on my team switch in bar Gliscor :)

Snorlax: Taunt it with Gliscor to prevent cursing, and machamp usually forces it to switch getting a free sub.

Starmie: scary, i usually pray to win the speed tie and KO with my own T-Bolt. Otherwise it's hard to deal with. but not impossible. (actually haven't seen it much)

Suicune: Offensive Calm Mind....its risky to taunt with Gliscor, but if i can pull it off while it attemps a CM starmie can take care of it, as does Machamp or Jirachi can T-Wave it.

Swampert: CursePert, kinda difficult. i usually taunt it and attempt to kill it with Starmie's hydro pump. Leads are tauted and starmie takes the ice beam and 2HKOs with Hydro Pump.

Togekiss: i have a switch in to every move it would pack. air slash hax is annoying but it usually doesn't do enough to keep it going on jirachi. gyarados(rest), starmie(natural Cure), and gliscor(immunity) eat up T-Waves like they're nothing.

Weavile: really rare, but jirachi almost always KOs with Iron Head.

Zapdos: starmie's Ice Beam does a good chunk but it usually doesn't do enough and t-bolt gets it. Machamp's stone edge does a lot of damage too!

I think the typing has good balance. You don't have at least 3 pokes of the same type, and no attack type hits more than 2 pokemon super effectively. Even then only two types (Ground and Electric) hit 2 super effectively. And as for those types, one of them (Ground) is completely ineffective on 2 more pokes, the other (Electric) hits one pokemon not very effectively, and another not at all.
Another thing to note is how you have 4 physical attackers and 2 special attackers, so I strongly suggest that you replace Jolteon with a special or mixed attacker (one that prefers special attacks, too).

allright, thanks! I do usually have a safe/near-safe switch in for most pokemon. and status isn't a problem thanks to starmie and gyarados. So thanks for the rate! i'll look into a special/mixed attacker :)

hey, thanks again! I was thinking about using shaymin for a while now too.
I should use HP Fire correct?
Also, does anyone think that Machamp should be replaced? he isn't working well recently and i think i need something speedier there as jirachi spreads paralysis on two pokemon per match on average. jirachi is staying, but machamp i'm considering replacing. advice on that?! :o

EDIT: @Plusle, nice job saying "it got deleted" ;D

Hey!

Threats
  1. Offensive DD Gyarados
  2. Offensive Suicune
  3. Life Orb Zapdos/LO Jolteon
  4. Dragon Dance Dragonite

Offensive LO DD Gyarados, and Offensive/Bulky DD Dragonite get only one chance to actually set up, which is by forcing out Gliscor and being highly problematic with boosted attacks. As many other Offensive teams, CM Suicune can pretty much rip through this team by forcing Gliscor back into its Pokeball. LO Zapdos can be problematic, (yes by coming in on Gliscor) and abusing Thunderbolt. Jolteon can't hit it hard enough with Thunderbolt, while taking plenty from Heat Wave, you can however revenge Zapdos with Starmie's Ice Beam/Hydro Pump after SR and some LO recoil. You should also play Gyarados VERY carefully, as LO Shaymin can pose a problem for your team without it. Fortunately you have Rapid Spin on this team, so if Gyarados does take a Seed Flare at full health the maximum damage it will take is 52% which it can still rest off, and force Shaymin to eat up LO recoil (-2 Sdef sucks though). And after you stall it a little to eat some LO damage, you can revenge it with Starmie's Ice Beam. LO/Specs Jolteon with HP Ice is also quite bothersome, outspeeding pretty much everything and hitting incredibly hard with LO/Specs Thunderbolt. Gliscor will fall to HP Ice, while Jolteon can assist you somewhat with Yawn/Protect (which is the same as pHazing, so you don't really harm their Jolteon).

Solutions:

  • Choice Scarf Jirachi for Dragon Dancers
As you probably know, Jirachi is excellent revenge killer for a bunch of threats, which includes Dragon Dance Dragonite and Gyarados. Trick also assists in crippling last Pokemon Crocune, Cropert, etc. Basically Jirachi is the go to "o-shit" button in case something dangerous sets up.

  • Curselax for Offensive Electrics, and Suicune
Yeah this thing is better than it sounds; Suicune, Jolteon, Zapdos, Starmie and a myriad of other Special Attackers become set up fodder for Snorlax, and will have to deal with its boosted Attack and Defense stats after a couple of Curses. With Rest and Sleep Talk, Snorlax will be an amazing answer to all Special Attackers, and it also receives the correct support from the team members. Snorlax fears Infernape, Lucario, Machamp, and their hard hitting Fighting- type attacks. All three are handled really well by Gliscor, Starmie, and Gyarados respectively, so it shouldn't be hard to set the situation correctly and let Snorlax unleash its wrath. You said it yourself, Jolteon was a throw in, and Snorlax will do much better in its spot.

Optional Changes:
Two Rest talkers on a team is redundant, especially when both of them are trying to accomplish similar goals (take Special Attacks). For this reason, I recommend you convert Gyarados into a Bulky Taunt version, which handles the Fighting types, Fire types and other similar threats the Rest-Talk version handles, but poses more of an Offensive threat, and Offensive pressure which is what I feel, important for a team like this.

Movesets:
Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Jolly nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Iron Head
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Punch
- Trick/U-turn
---

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 188 HP / 104 Def / 216 SpD
Careful nature (+SpD, -SpA)
- Curse
- Body Slam
- Crunch
- Rest
---

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spe
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge/Bounce/Earthquake

So to summarize:
  • Choice Scarf on Jirachi
  • Rest(Talk) Snorlax over Jolteon
  • Bulky Gyarados set on Gyarados

GL

hey, that makes sense. thanks :)
LO Shaymin hasn't been doing my any favors so i'll test out these changes for a while. if they improve my winning ability then i'll update the original post!

Also I forgot to mention this but you can try Thunderwave over Taunt on Gyarados, to support Machamp and Snorlax. Thunderwave will help Machamp in the long run, paralyzing stuff like Rotom-A and hitting them with Payback.
