Manaphy @ Waterium Z
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 248 HP / 236 SpA / 24 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tail Glow
- Surf
- Psychic
- Rest
Being decently fast and bulky, Manaphy has become a staple sweeper on Rain teams, recently booming in usage both in ladder and in the tournament scene. Since it can effectively both set up and recover while remaining bulky enough to tank many hits, it has become a very notable threat even outside of Rain teams. This set focuses on using Rain to its advantage, being able to recover to max HP under Rain, and Tail Glow quickly boosting its offense. Psychic's primary job is to take out Toxapex and Kommo-o. It appreciates Stealth Rocks and Spikes support from Pokemon like Magic Guard Clefable and Ferrothorn, which can check Rotom-Wash and Kartana respectively. Manaphy works best under Rain, so Pelipper is almost mandatory for Manaphy to work up to its full potential. Also, other Rain abuser like Mega Swampert and Kingdra also perform well alongside Manaphy primarily because of their ability to weaken potential walls like Tapu Koko, Ferrothorn and Tangrowth for Manaphy to clean. Tapu Koko makes a great teammate, since it benefits from Manaphy's ability to break past special walls, which lets the former clean up late game.
