Return to Battle

Hello, I haven't played since around the very start of DP. I have recently bought a copy of X and Y, and have spent the past two days reading and testing my team. The team below is the team I've had the most success with, but due to my return to n00b status, I believe getting feedback would be beneficial. I will try and be brief; thank you so much!

Aegislash_Shield_Form.png

Tiozona (Aegislash) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- King's Shield
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak
- Swords Dance

In late game taking the attack of a weak user of a SE move(walls, hazard-bros, support) typically +1's Atk on the same turn I Sword's Dance; typically leads to a sweep. Stops Scizor, Gengar, Alakazam and spinblocks. King's shield can also be used to -1 the opponent's attack to better tank the SE move for Weakness Policy.

Tyranitar.jpg

Reptar (Tyranitar) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 180 HP / 252 Atk / 76 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
- Crunch
- Pursuit

Sand Stream residual damage is nice and aids with sweeping; half my team is unaffected. Checks Talonflame, Mega-Aggron and other Aegislashes. Good coverage. Used Mid-game to add pressure and hit hard to prepare for late-game.

Ruseman (Klefki) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Swagger
- Spikes
- Foul Play

Sometimes suicide lead in a non-lead meta. Old habits die hard. If their lead is non-physical, they get swaggered then T-waved. If not, I am guaranteed two layers of spikes, typically 3. He typically paralyzes at least 3 members of a team or gets off 3 layers of spikes, either way he helps with the late-game sweep. He also gets people mad and throws them off, which makes victory easier. [Was formerly Togekiss]

starmie.jpg

Polaris (Starmie) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam

Integral and an old friend. My jack of all trades. Absorbs those pesky water attacks that target Tyranitar, as well as the ice ones that would otherwise hurt Salamence & Tangrowth. Gets a free switch in on the fire attacks destined for Tangrowth, Aeigislash and Klefki. It can also spin like hell while threatening common Spin blockers not otherwise checked my the team. My answer to Garchomp and the gimmicky bulky waters I've been seeing all afternoon. [Was formerly Rotom-Wash].

250px-373Salamence.png

Gorynych (Salamence) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 64 Atk / 192 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature
- Outrage
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Draco Meteor

Laughs at the Earthquakes aimed at Aegislash and Klefki. My partner in crime, and my second late-game sweeper. After all the residual damage(Spikes, Sandstream, Confusion), paralysis, and burns, MixMence comes in to plow through with Moxie.

465Tangrowth.png

Britney Spears(Tangrowth) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Def / 248 HP / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed
- Hidden Power [Fire]

A wall. A damn good one. Takes electric attacks that try to hurt Salamence or Starmie. When Ferrothorn or Forretress tries to set up, she pops up and gives them an HP Fire. Keeps going throughout the entire game with leftovers, Giga Drain, Leech seed and Regenerator. Sleep Power is usually what signals the start of the late-game sweep, providing an opportunity for easy switches or set ups.[Was formerly Skarmory & Aggron].

In Summary:

I lead with Klefki, setting up spikes and status to pile on damage. Starmie & Tyranitar work together to shut down threats, deal heavy damage, scout the team, get rid of entry hazards placed and through their coverage take down threats that impede Salamence & Aegislash. Tangrowth comes in, puts something to sleep and sets up leech seed. They typically swap into something that Salamence handles easily. Salamence continues pounding on their team, which is getting more damaged by the minute, boy he's got moxie. When they send in something good for it, Aegislash comes in, sets up, and Shadow Sneaks the remainder of their HP to death.

That's that. I look forward to your feedback! I'm so happy to be back!

Hey, thought I'd come and give some feedback for someone who used up their bump.

Lots of old faces in this lineup, which I like. T-tar and Starmie work great together in clearing out early threats, just wondering what T-tar is designed to outspeed with scarf and EVs. Because I am tempted to suggest an Assault Vest version of him to tank enemy special attacks, particularly from choice specs users. Otherwise a fast ghost with a focus blast can surprise your T-tar in the middle of a pursuit attempt if Klefki goes down doing his job. With Assault Vest, T-tar can even tank some super-effective water hits if you lose starmie and need to clean out the last of those bulky waters, dealing with Jellicent and such.

Otherwise, I don't have much to add. Pretty nice old-school team with new faces in the lineup.

Thank you so much for your comment. Coincidentally, I'm using Assault Vest TTar as we speak. However, TTar and Tangrowth so far have been proven to be the less useful members of my team. I am considering replacing Tangrowth with Swampert packing Stealth Rock and Roar in order to phaze and rack up more hazard damage.

The old faces are a result of me using what I know. Starmie and Salamence have been on every team I've taken seriously since 2006.

Thanks again for replying! If you have any teams that need feedback feel free to PM me a link. I have to say it again! So much fun to be back!

Any time. I'm currently myself trying to find a staying physical bruiser to pair with Assault Vest T-Tar. I found Skarmory and Hippowdon both have stealth rock and whirlwind, as well as recovery in roost/slack off for staying power.

I tried Skarmory already, but that would give me 3 people with a weakness to fire, as well as 3 with a weakness to electricity. Hippodown is the same as I'd now have 3 Pokemon SE'd by ice, making him an ineffective switch in. Swampert can switch into both of those as well as swap in when I detect an EQ from a guy that Salamence can't take down. He can also Roar out threats and wrack up ridiculous hazard damage, making a late game Aegislash sweep even easier.

Thanks again for your feedback!
