Return to Pokemon V.1

I haven't played this game in a long time. Lets say since... Diamond. People were hyping over B/W 2 around here and I decided to try this game again. I've been lurking around Smogon for about two weeks or so reading and making teams for fun. Heres the first one i've been trying out on "Showdown!". Its not doing bad considering it was made and being piloted by an amateur. List looks slightly odd because I made a few changes before posting, so don't be afraid to point them out. :V

(Gengar Style)
Gengar @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Pain Split
It murders people. SubSplit can be frustrating and keeps him around for multiple kills. Sucks up Toxic spikes and stuff.

(Psychic tandem war elephant)
Donphan @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 28 Atk / 228 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard/Roar
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
I switch him into physicals, let him rock and/or spin then go on the offense. Ice Shard picks up surprise kills reliably. Thinking real hard about replacing him with a Hippowdon and chucking Abomasnow for some spinner to fill in Donphan's.

(Snips)
Scizor @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant
- U-Turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
He hits things hard, trips up Ghosts and Tyranitar obv. Can stay and hit hard or keep running with U-Turn.. His typing is cool, allowing him to stay around for awhile.

(Slurms McKenzie)
Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Sassy Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Recover
Special/water soaker. Pretty self explanatory.

(Twix break)
Chansey @ Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold nature
- Counter
- Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
Mixed soaker with a counter set. Takes hits well while being very unforgiving with a good Counter and Toxic.

(Senator Obama)
Abomasnow @ Leftovers
Trait: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SDef
Sassy Nature
- Focus Punch
- Blizzard
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
Weather hazard and sits on bulky waters np. SubSeedPunch is pretty annoying.

List is about 4-3 there atm. Usually I either lose because of:
- Rookie mistake kills me
- Last pokemon vs last pokemon/luck
- Last guy puffs up on status stuff and kills me
- Lack of experience

Maybe I should replace Ice Shard on Donphan for Roar to prevent example 3 a lot more? Or maybe too gaps in the team at the moment? Scisor and Chansey perform well, the former easily grabbing kills while taking a few hits, the former doing a great job at surprising people and staying alive. Donphan does his job and sneaks up surprise skills, seems to die too easily though (partially my fault for bad switches or being stubborn). Gastrodon is OK, doesn't really feel like hes doing his job well, but he does it. Abomasnow is fun, sometimes he grabs multiple kills or just melts before he can even SubSeed. Gengar is high risk high reward, either taking out half of the team or doing nothing. Oddly haven't seen that many spinners yet.

Common appearances: Venusaur (3), Ninetails(4), Scizor(3), Gengar(2), Alakazam(2), Latios(2), Cloyster(2), Dragon sweepers (4 including the Latios)

Help me adapt. :)

You gotta give descriptions of your pokes.

Also, Gastrodon isn't so hot on hail teams. Unless of course you have some strategy with him, but I don't know because you don't tell us.

As Keramory said, descriptions need to be beefed up otherwise a mod will most likely lock this thread. Go into why you chose specific Pokemon, what do they do for you? why choose a particular Set over another? etc. Have a look at some other RMT's if you want to get a feel for what we'd like to see.

As for an actual rate, I'm a bit busy at work atm so here's just some things I wanted to point out that I noticed at a glance:

- Why use Abomasnow? you have nothing to take advantage of Hail, in fact your entire Team takes damage from it lol. Regardless of taking away the Opponents Weather, I don't really find this worth a slot on your Team at all when you have no way to take advantage of the fact that Hail is up.

- You have no true Revenge Killer. If anything sets up with DD's or Quiver Dances, or even something like Scarf Moxie Mence comes in, and you can't OHKO with Bullet Punch, prepare to get swept. I could potentially see something like Scarf Latios working well in Abomasnow's place for this. Latios is also a huge help vs Keldeo, which looks like a Poke that can easily give you trouble.

Hope this helps! :D

Well, I think you need some more explanations, just like Keramory said. Keep in mind that even though some parts are rather self explanatory to you, they might not be to some others. Longer descriptions will definitely help here.

On to the team itself.

First of all, a rather small mistake you made there, that is Gengar cannot suck up Toxic Spikes due to its Levitate. Same theory for Crobat there. And from what I can tell, Abomasnow is rather more of a burden to your team UNLESS you specifically run Pokemon to benefit from hail, but you aren't. Sad to say, your team looks more like it's 6 random Pokes thrown together to form a team.

Moving on to the weaknesses, you have a huge 4x fire weakness due to Abomasnow and Scizor, so I would suggest a Specially Defensive Heatran over Donphan so you can switch it in to get the Flash Fire boost and possibly force some switches, while setting up Stealth Rocks.

Personally, I'd prefer Blissey over Chansey just because with Choiced Rotom-Ws running everywhere, I cannot guarantee that one day you will end up in the situation where a Scarf/Specs Rotom W catches you off guard. :/

I think that's rather all I have in mind. Please correct me if I am wrong in anyway.

im a noob to rating teams oh gawd

It's still a bit lacking. PM me your descriptions once you fixed them.
Check out the RMT-archives if you need "inspiration".

Welcome to Smogon !
