My previous thread got shut I guess because I didn't explain my team enough.. I messed around with my team and ended up making a completely different looking team. Still getting the hang of this game, though its not as hard as people make it out to me (maybe its a rank thing).
So thats the team. So far on Showdown i'm 5-1 with this team. Not bad at all for an amateur. Please point out any flaws or gaps in my team if you can. :D
Common appearances: Venusaur (3), Ninetails(5), Scizor(3), Gengar(3), Alakazam(2), Latios(2), Cloyster(2), Dragon sweepers (7 including the Latios), Genesect (2), Politoed (2)
^ Is there to record what frequently appears in my matches and helps you guys figure out how I should adapt to the enviroment. So far Ninetales and Dragon sweepers seem to run rampant here in Showdown.

I personally didn't like the Gengar as much as I thought I would so I opted for another classic and boy does he work out well. His high SpA and painless Life Orb from Magic Guard allows me to severely hurt Pokemon who aren't resisting his hits. Psyshock is for the standard SpD slaying that Psychic doesn't give me. Focus Blast and Shadow Ball are pretty standard here since they cover and hit well. I gave him a HP Ice because I felt like I didn't have enough Dragon hate on my team. basically. He'll usually take down at least one guy to sweeping a good part of the team if used right. Me gusta.
Blissey @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EV: 252 Hp / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Calm
- Wish
- Protect
- Flamethrower
- Toxic
Not sure I really have to tell you what a Blissey does. Laughs at specials, cries when hit by physicals. Gave her Wishing duty to let my sweepers keep doing their jobs while spamming protect on a poisoned poke can be a PITA. Flamethrower shoo away and Ice, Grass, or Steel types who decide to sit in front of me. Really annoying Pokemon all in all between her stats, movepool, typing, and trait. Might use Chansey again because when I get outplayed I suffer severely with a K.O'd Blissey.
Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EV: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Slack Off
- Stealth Rock
My Physical Soaker and Stealth Rock user and man is he good at his job. Between Slack Off and Leftovers I can sit around if the guy can't super effect me and watch him choke on sand. I was almost tempted to give him toxic just to see someone do that and get frustrated when I take years to kill his guys (forfeits FTW). But in all seriousness I let him drop rocks, which do a lot of good for my next two pokemon and cripples the other team well if they don't resist it all day or can't spin it out of their zone. Earthquake is standard on Hippowdon, which does noticeable damage for a guy who lays down rocks and takes hits. Slack Off is his recovery skill, which between it and his stats are why I like this guy so much. Gave him Ice Fang for easy Dragon hate (Especially now that Garchomp has descended to OU), also lets me cheap shot opposing Hippowdons and Donphans. Sadly his Sand Stream while good for wearing down pokes also wears down mine and makes my leftovers nonexistent, but perhaps thats the price I must pay to use this beast.
Infernape @ Choice Band
Trait: Blaze
EV: 252 AtK / 252 Spe / 4 Hp
Jolly
- Close Combat
- Flare Blitz
- Stone Edge
- U-Turn
Sun Wukong lost his legendary staff and now hes pissed, and you're in his way(you can even tie Choice Band as a reference to the band that was stuck on his head in the book xD). Infernape with strong moves such as Flare Blitz and Close Combat, his bread and butter alongside Choice Band hes no joking matter, allowing him to rip apart whoever gets caught in his locked move without resist. Stone Edge (while I hate the accuracy), allows him to fling his stone poo at opposing fire types, which earns him a kill np especially with that crit-ratio on it. U-Turn gives him hit and run capabilities, which banded does a neat amount while hes leaving. This set while predictable and standard, is still golden and allows him to walk over quite a few Pokemon if hes not stopped.
Scizor @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Technician
EV: 252 Atk / 252 SPe / 4 Hp
Jolly
- Iron Head
- Aerial Ace
- Superpower
- U-Turn
While I could have easily made Infernape my revenge killer, I decided to give it to Scizor instead just because hes slightly more versatile than the monkey. Iron Head is better than Bullet Punch in a scarf set since I don't need the priority move for the most part, and IH gives me flinching capabilities. While I could have taken Pursuit, I decided to let Alakazam deal with that and give Scizor Aerial Ace to show Breeloom and Conkeldurr whose boss, tell Ferrothorn to bug off, and can be used if I just need to guarantee a hit. Superpower is the Fighting move Scizor is given for his Fighting needs.U-Turn, like on Infernape, lets him hit and run all day with that scarf on and the bug typing is useful now and then. Also him and Infernape can keep Turning into eachother when needed.
Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EV: 252 SpA / 152 Spe / 106 Hp
Modest
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power Fire
- Thunderbolt
- Painsplit
Looks pretty odd at first but the 152 Speed lets him out speed enough Pokemon to knock them senseless with one of his skills while giving him sufficient HP to stay alive with Leftovers and Painsplit. His moveset gives him a lot of reach. Bulky water? Floating face up. Ground/Fire/Rock? ONE MILLION YEARS WASHING MACHINE DUNGEON! Grass? Must be 420 because i'm about to blaze it mofos. Theres more but ill stop with the jokes. Painsplit lets him stick around and do his job better than he should to be honest, kind've a PITA when he gets low and jumps up while taking a good part of your HP, threatening a guaranteed K.O next turn if not resisted.
