Returning from a long break... [OU]

Well, I'm returning to the metagame after a long break, and decide to pick up where I left off, sorting out any problems with this team.

Please help me, I'd appreciate some ratings from experienced players and anyone who has helpful tips!

So, quite offensive with some back up defensive pokemon. This is team is old and might be outdated, so the lead might be as well. I'm not sure how much the metagame has changed :/
The basic strategy is to clear the path for Gyarados or find an opening to set up either Gya or Mence.

Bronzong@Leftovers
Relaxed, Levitate
252 HP/152 Atk/96 SpDef
-Gyro Ball
-Charge Beam
-Stealth Rock
-Hypnosis

I found this to be a reasonably good lead, Stealth Rock helps my team and I benefit from Hypnosis, because it could help my set ups to...set up if a member of their team is asleep. 'Zong's job is to get up Stealth Rock, and either sleep or/and then get out of there. I need him later to absorb hits.

--And so that's one problem. Is this lead outdated? I'm not sure if Hypnosis is needed or not, accuracy is a problem and if Bronzong goes down early I might have trouble later on.

Suicune@Leftovers
Bold, Pressure
252 HP & Def/4 SpAtk
-Calm Mind
-Roar
-Surf
-Ice Beam

I found this to be incredibly helpful on this team. It's important to have a defensive poke, and Roar helps me scout their team to try and see what lies in Gyarados's way. It suffers from no recovery however. I thought that I needed CM more to take Sp attacks though. I find Rest an annoying recovery so decided i would just have no recovery and use it to scout out the opponents team.

Porygon-Z@Life Orb
Modest, Adaptability
252 SpAtk + Speed/4 HP
-Tri Attack
-Nasty Plot
-HP [Fighting]
-Dark Pulse

My Sp.Attaker. Salac Berry is there so that if I can survive I get a boost, hopefully allowing a sweep or allow me to do some damage. Why Z? I just found him to a be a beast really.

Salamence@Leftovers
Adamant, Intimidate
252 Atk + Speed/4 HP
-Earthquake
-Dragon Claw
-Roost
-Dragon Dance

One of my DD'ers. If Salamence can set up, great, but really what it's meant to do is lure out the defensive wall so I can get round to clearing to way for Gyarados. Roost helps me stay out longer.
Also, If Gya fails and I still have Mence, I have a back up. Mence is great late game as well so I might get a set up.

dpmba466.png

Electivire@Expert Belt
Mild, Motor Drive
76 HP/180 Speed/252 SpAtk
-Cross Chop
-Thunderbolt
-Flamethrower
-HP [ICE]

Yeah, that is 'Vire. It's Sp.Atk so I may be able to surprise my opponent and take out out their defensive 'mon. Granted it takes prediction to get a switch in, and I know it never works with Gya but you'd be surprised how much it works/has worked with Suicune.

Gyarados@Life Orb
Adamant
Intimidate
72HP/252Atk/186Speed
-Earthquake
-Waterfall
-Ice Fang
-Dragon Dance

Main part of team. It comes out late game, and sweeps up.

So there's my team. My main idea is to get a late sweep with Gyarados, or Salamence. Also, SR can be a bit of a problem, so I was thinking should Z be replaced with Starmie? And also should the lead be changed?

I haven't played Pokemon for ages until a few days ago so I'm not sure how the metagame has changed etc, any help on that is appreciated. I've picked up that Scizor and suicide leads are popular though.

Ok, i think that your team is well thought out and put together, but as with any team, it has a few problems that I'm going to attempt to fix.

First off, with the amount of taunt leads out there today, you won't be doing much with bronzong as he relys on status in order to get most of his job done.
Thats why you need a stronger leads that can take out most or all of the tuant leads (Aerodactlyl, weavile, ect.) while still bringing stealth rocks to the table. For this i'd suggest trying out a standard lead metagross:

Metagross@ occa berry
Ev's: 236 atk/ 252 hp/ 12 def/ 8 spe
adamant nature
-Explosion
-bullet punch
-stealth rock
-earthquake

With this metagross you can ensure that you survive a fire blast from any leadape's fire blast, activate the focus sash with earthquake, then bullet punch for the KO. It helps to take out leads like weavile (2 Bullet punches for KO factoring in focus sash) and aerodactyl (2 bullet punches also, not counting the sash) who usually carry tuant on them. Earthquake is there for infernapes, (as i explained earlier) and opposing metagross leads. Explosion is there so if a pokemon comes in on you and trys to use you as set up fodder, you can blast it all the way to febuary 30th. Most people like using explosion on lead-gross, but you can use meteor mash in its place if you want a stronger steel attack, as meteor mash and bullet punch are a good combonation too. It's all based on what works best for you. What i just explained is why you should use metagross, you get stealth rock, and a powerful way to eliminate some pokemon in the early game.

Second off, i would strongly reccomend switching porygon-z for a porygon2. It would help you have a backup physical wall, since todays metagame is mainly physical, and it would help you take down top threats like gyarados and salamence, since you don't really have a counter to either of those. A bulky variant like this should do:

Porygon2@leftovers
Ev's: 252 hp/ 216 def/ 40 spa
Bold nature
Ability: Trace
-thunderbolt
-recover
-ice beam
-thunder wave

He has boltbeam coverage, as well as a healing move, which suicune lacks, and he has the ability to spam thunderwave around. Trace is the crux of porygon2. It allows him to reverse the intimadate back at salamence/gyarados, allowing them to not be as powerfull.

You should change salamence to the standard mixmence, it's one of the most powerfull threats in OU.

I would also suggest changing suicune to a set like this, just for more durability:

Suicune@leftovers
Ev's: 252 hp/ 252 def/ 4 spe
bold nature
-rest
-roar/calm mind
-ice beam/roar/calm mind
-surf

All in all, your team is a little outdated but i like it. You don't have to accept these changes if it's playing fine already, but you should atleast try them to see if you like them. Thanks for your time, hope i helped.

I know that most people will tell you to keep Gyra Adamant but I strongly suggest that you make it Jolly. This is for one reason, Jolteon. After one DD he still outspeeds you and gets a OHKO with TBolt... on the other hand you could use that to set up EVire, as long as they don't know about him already. Up to you, a KO on Joleon or a free set up for EVire.

Yeah, that does sound like a problem if Elevtivire is out, I'll have to consider it...
