[SET COMMENTS]
Dragon Dance Gouging Fire is a staple on Dragon teams thanks to its great mixed bulk and neutrality to Fairy and Ice, doing great in threatening matchups like Fairy, Ice, and Steel on top of being a fail-safe against dangerous threats such as Ceruledge, Volcarona, and Iron Valiant. Flare Blitz is the STAB move of choice, hitting everything that does not resist it like Flutter Mane and Volcarona hard. Heat Crash is a viable option to prevent Gouging Fire from hurting itself while keeping a 120-Base Power attack against most targets, but it's inefficient against heavy foes such as Kyurem, Mamoswine, and Zamazenta. Earthquake combines well with Fire-type moves, leaving only Moltres and Air Balloon Heatran unscathed. Morning Sun increases Gouging Fire's longevity and improves its setup ability. The EV spread makes Gouging Fire bulky enough to avoid a 2HKO from Enamorus's Earth Power while also letting it outspeed Iron Valiant after a single Dragon Dance.
Archaludon and Hisuian Goodra form a great defensive core with Gouging Fire, as they fix most of the troubles Gouging Fire can encounter by providing a poison immunity and solid defensive capabilities. Thanks to Stamina, Archaludon can easily come in on any physical move, especially multi-hit moves, such as Dragapult's Dragon Darts or Roaring Moon's Outrage and punish them in return, while Gouging Fire will take any Fire-type move for Archaludon and can also switch into troublesome foes like Iron Valiant and Enamorus. Hisuian Goodra can tank any special move such as Draco Meteor from Choice Specs Dragapult and Latios as well as dealing with Primarina and Flutter Mane more easily. By virtue of being a setup sweeper, Gouging Fire appreciates offensive teammates that can break through its checks such as Dragapult, Latios, Roaring Moon, Kyurem, and Raging Bolt. Choice Specs Dragapult and Latios both put immense pressure on the opposing defensive cores, as they can both deal with threats such as IronPress Zamazenta, Toxapex, and Archaludon. Thanks to Infiltrator, Choice Specs Dragapult easily breaks through Fairy's defensive structure by bypassing Light Screen and 2HKOing the whole team, whereas Latios can act as a potent wincon in the Ground matchup by swiftly removing Landorus and Hippowdon with Ice Beam. Choice Scarf Roaring Moon helps to deal with opposing Dragapult, Gouging Fire, and Latios. Kyurem focuses on Flying and Water matchups, effortlessly disposing of physically defensive Gyarados, Gliscor, and Toxapex, while appreciating Gouging Fire taking Fighting-type moves in its place. Similarly, Raging Bolt is of great help against Water and Flying teams, as it easily sweeps both types once their Electric-immune Pokemon are removed.
