ORAS OU RGB Team (feat. Mega Heracross)

Hello again, homeys! Sorry for being silly on my last thread, but this one is serious. As you can see below, I have have built a hyper offensive team around Mega Heracross, and, coincidentally, the colors of the Pokemon happen to form a RGB pattern (for those living under a rock, RGB means red-green-blue, dangit!).

So let's get started!

Teambuilding process:
heracross-mega.gif

=Mega Heracross is a total badass. Just look at its attack stat. With that 185 attack stat, Mega Heracross can break through lots of walls. It can nearly 2HKO a Skarmory with Close Combat! I choose him, because it is not so popular; thus, many teams would not prepare for it.

heracross-mega.gif
thundurus.gif

=Thundurus is an excellent offensive partner to Mega Heracross, since it can check Gliscor and defensive Landorus-t, which are the few walls that can take Mega Heracross's attacks. More importantly though, the genie can check flying-types that are also problematic to Mega Heracross, such as Talonflame and Mega Pinsir.

heracross-mega.gif
thundurus.gif
keldeo-resolute.gif

=Here is the marine pony! Scarfed Landorus-t was still a problem, until I added Keldeo to my team. Keldeo, like Thundurus, can apply huge amounts of offensive pressure on the opposing team. Mega Heracross and Thundurus can cover Keldeo's checks pretty well. For example, Keldeo lures in Slowbro and Mega Venusaur, which are taken down by Thundurus and Mega Heracross, respectively.

heatran.gif

=Is this a specially defensive Heatran? No. It is a scarfed Heatran. I needed a revenge killer, so I chose this Pokemon. It may be an odd choice for a revenge killer, but it isn't. Not only Heatran covers up my huge Fairy-type weakness (becasue of Mega Heracross and Keldeo), but it is an unpredictable threat. This is because that scarfed Heatrans are very unpopular. It can outspeed and obliterate many unsuspecting threats that would have outsped Heatran without a Choice Scarf. With Overheat, Heatran can deal heavy damage to Pokemon that even resist it, leaving an easier chance for teammates to break through those Pokemon. So in conclusion, this Heatran is a hit-and-run revenge killer with lots of firepower behind it.

latios.gif

=Latios is the common offensive Defogger, and it does well at its job. It can severely dent or OHKO several Pokemon that can be a problem for my team. It is especially threatening for unprepared teams, which makes beating the opponent easier for my teammates. Latios also has Defog, since Thundurus is weak against Stealth Rock.

bisharp.gif

=I really wanted a setup sweeper, so i chose Bisharp. I made sure that all of Bisharp's checks are covered by the rest of the team, and they are. With one boost, this metallic knight can be a nightmare when its checks are removed. With Sucker Punch, Bisharp can also revenge kill problematic Pokemon like Starmie, which can harass my team.

Set Details:

bisharp.gif

Hitman (Bisharp) @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
===BlackGlasses are preferred over Life Orbs, because it has no recoil, leaving Bisharp less suspectible to revenge killing. Also, Bisharp usually uses Dark-type attacks, so I do not mind when Iron Head does not get boosted by the BlackGlasses. Sucker Punch helps Bisharp to revenge kill, and Swords Dance enables it to sweep. It has Jolly nature to outspeed Adamant Mega Altaria, Gyarados, Diggersby, and many more relatively slow Pokmeon with Adamant nature.

heatran.gif

tactical nuke (Heatran) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 24 HP / 252 SpA / 232 Spe
Timid Nature
- Overheat
- Flash Cannon
- Earth Power
- Stone Edge
===Choice Scarf boosts Heatran's speed. The given EV spreads and the nature enable Heatran to outspeed Mega Lopunny and opposing Scarfed Heatrans. Overheat..I'm not going to need to say anything about that. Flash Cannon destroys Fairy-types; Earth Power takes down opposing Heatrans; and Stone Edge takes care of Mega Charizard-Y and Talonflame.

keldeo-resolute.gif

MLP 2 Confirmed (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Icy Wind
===Choice Specs is the item I prefer for Keldeo, since it makes the pony pack a lot of power in its attacks. But why have Hydro Pump and Scald together? Scald has a decent 30% chance of burning Pokemon, and Hydro Pump has more power. Secret Sword is also a strong STAB move. Icy Wind can wreck Latioses and Latiases on the switch and lower their speed, enabling Keldeo to finish them off.

latios.gif

Airstrike (Latios) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Defog
===Life Orb is for more power. Draco Meteor and Psyshock are Latios's dual STABs. This flying dragon lures in Bisharp and Scizor, so Hidden Power Fire is used to obliterate them. Defog is to remove entry hazards...that's the whole purpose of this set!

heracross-mega.gif

Lance Armstrong (Heracross) (M) @ Heracronite
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Pin Missile
- Rock Blast
- Substitute
===Mega Heracross needs that Heracronite (you don't say), and his nickname is a self-explanatory steroids reference. With Jolly nature, Mega Heracross can outspeed many more threats than him having an Adamant nature. Close Combat and Pin Missile are its STAB attacks, and Rock Blast is needed for Pokemon that resist its STABs. Substitute is important, because Mega Heracross can block status like burn and paralysis, and it can break through extra Pokemon.

thundurus.gif

Aladdin (Thundurus) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast
===Thundurus has Life Orb for extra damage. With Prankster and Thunder Wave, Thundurus can act as a "team saver;" it can paralyze setup sweepers to severely cripple them, making it easy for its teammates to finish it off. Thundurus needs Timid Nature to outspeed base 110-speed Pokemon. Thunderbolt, HP Ice, and Focus Blast have great coverage together; HP Ice can destroy Gliscors and Landorus-ts, and Focus Blast can wreck Heatrans and Tyranitars.

Hope you enjoy this team, guys, and don't forget to mention whatever weaknesses my team has. Thank you! <3

  1. You Have Ice Weaknesses, With Ground And Fighting, Lucario, Landorus-T, Blastoise-M, and Mixed Latios Have Fun With Your Team.
  2. Run SD over Sub On M-Hera, it allows you to have some huge power over most Pokemon, and the boosted CC will hurt most Pokemon.
  3. Change Choice Specs to Choice Scarf on Keldeo, and change the nature to Modest, it allows for sweeping potential and it could replace your revenge killer in Heatran.
  4. The set on Heatran should be changed to the magma storm set in
Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 168 HP / 88 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Magma Storm
- Toxic
- Taunt
- Flash Cannon/Stealth Rock
5. Run Pursuit over Swords Dance on Bisharp, it already has defiant, but Pursuit allows it to trap Latios and Latias, who hurt your team.
6. Taunt can be run over focus blast or thunder wave, but it is optional.

yo,

Cool team here, has a few weaknesses that are pretty big, though. Namely to things like Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, and and Tornadus-Therian. You really don't have a safe answer to any of these. Altaria outright sweeps you should it get in on the right move vs Keldeo or Latios, can also set up on a locked Heatran, and hard checks Heracross with a bulkier spread. Gardevoir forces you into Heatran or just attack it and sac what you have on the field, which isn't a good way to handle it. Torn-T forces you to bring in Thundurus or Heatran, while Thundy gets 2HKO'd by Hurricane after Rocks and crippled by Knock Off, and Heatran risks switching into a Knock Off and then a Fighting type move or just a U-turn into a counter.

For me, there are two different changes you can make to your team to improve it, I'll explain what they are and what the changes fix and what weaknesses you'll have with the changes.

1)
Due to your big weakness to things like Gardevoir and Altaria, a more durable Steel would be greatly appreciated. Going with Jirachi > Bisharp gives you a much more reliable answer to these threats, as well as handling Latios better than you would with Bisharp. Jirachi also provides you with Stealth Rocks, which is something every team should have. Jirachi can also provide you with Healing Wish support, allowing a weakened Mega Heracross or Scarf Heatran to come in again later in the game.

Your team is also pretty weak to Tornadus-T, as I mentioned prior, but also Electric types in general, like opposing Thundurus. I think you don't need the priority Thunder Wave if you have a good answer to many common set up sweepers (Jirachi + Heatran for Altaria, Heatran for Charizard X, Keldeo for Gyarados, etc), so changing Thundurus to Raikou would give your team a needed answer to 'Mons like Torn-T and Thundurus. A Calm Mind set is what I would suggest, as you don't need the immediate power of Specs, but also don't want to have the same power Assault Vest Raikou does.

With these changes, a few minor things would be a good idea to consider. Using Recover > HP Fire on Latios gives you a lot more durability, and makes your only reliable Keldeo answer a lot more durable. HP Fire isn't needed when you have Heatran, although it would be nice. Your team, however, really needs Latios to live throughout the battle, or a Specs Keldeo can come in and get a kill every time. Another minor change is HP Electric > Icy Wind on Keldeo, because you really struggle with Gyarados and Azumarill with your team, this gives you a reliable answer to the former and a lure to the latter. Hitting the Eon Twins on the switch isn't as helpful for this team. Lastly, I personally don't think you need dual Fire STAB on Heatran, especially when it's Fire Blast and not Overheat. I'd go with Flash Cannon > Flamethrower, to hit things like Dianice, Latios, and Clefable.

Again, I think using Jirachi > Bisharp is ideal for your team. I already explained why it helps you out, so I'm not going to repeat myself. Although, I'd make a change to the set and run Fire Punch > Healing Wish, as this lures Scizor and Ferrothorn.

I also think changing Heatran would be helpful, as you're still very weak to Electric types in general. A Scarf Landorus-Therian over Heatran gives you the revenge killer your need, while providing momentum and check to Electric types. Landorus-T is a better revenge killer than Heatran was, so you don't have to change your sets away from what is optimal on this team. I'd keep Icy Wind on Keldeo on this variation. Lando-T also, unlike Heatran, doesn't give Keldeo free switchins, making it not necessary to run Recover on Latios, allowing you to run HP Fire to lure things like Ferro and Scizor, which trouble your team without Heatran. A thing to consider is changing Focus Blast -> Knock Off on Thundy, allowing you to lure Latios/Latias and handle it better.

The second option handles offensive teams better than the first, but is slightly weaker to some threats like Scizor and Altaria, as well as Mega Metagross. I think both options can work, I personally prefer 1, but it comes down to what you prefer and your playstyle. Either way, you should test out both options and pick your favorite!

Hey, thanks, man! You're right that I need a more reliable answer to Fairy-types. So thanks for giving me a suggestion to add Jirachi, because it worked well for me! But in 1), why not give Jirachi a more specially defensive spread (252 HP / 176 SpD / 80 Spe)? This enables Jirachi to switch in Latios and Mega Gardevoir much more reliably.

The Healing Wish set could run less attack, I put that much attack so Jirachi still had an offensive presence. So your spread can definitely work on that one. On Fire Punch you need the Attack to 2HKO Mega Scizor and do a good amount to Ferrothorn, so I'd be against running no attack investment.
