[SET COMMENTS]
Rhyperior's solid defensive typing and good bulk make it a decent Stealth Rock setter, able to switch into threats such as Obstagoon, Noivern, Toxtricity, Mimikyu, and Tyranitar. Thanks to its bulk and ability in Solid Rock, it's one of the best checks to Calm Mind Jirachi and Dragon Dance Tyranitar. However, it's easily exploited by common Water-types such as Keldeo, Slowking, and Rotom-W, all three of which can use it for free momentum or, in Rotom-W's case, remove its Stealth Rock with Defog. Additionally, Rhyperior is susceptible to chip damage over time due to a lack of reliable recovery, making it more difficult to check Pokemon such as Incineroar and the aforementioned Obstagoon. Rhyperior also faces major competition from Krookodile, as it's easier to fit on teams and provides more utility overall, being able to annoy most entry hazard removers with Taunt or Smack Down. Rock Blast is an option over Stone Edge to better fare against Mimikyu and Substitute Kyurem while also having higher accuracy than Stone Edge; however, it's generally not worth it over Stone Edge's consistent power. Toxic punishes Slowking and Rotom-W by putting them on a timer. Alternatively, Megahorn hits the former while OHKOing Celebi and Starmie, but it's generally less useful than Toxic.
Teammates that can deal with Skarmory are vital to have, as it completely walls Rhyperior, can potentially use it to set up Spikes, and can also remove Stealth Rock via Defog. Electric-types such as Heliolisk, Toxtricity, and Rotom-W are good partners that can also check Water-types like Mantine and Slowking. Rotom-W can also remove Skarmory's Spikes thanks to Defog and check Krookodile for Rhyperior. Roserade, Celebi, and Rotom-C can check Water- and Grass-types such as Keldeo and Rotom-C— the former can also form an entry hazard-stacking core with Rhyperior. Roserade is also able to cripple Skarmory with Stun Spore or Sleep Powder, while Rotom-C is able to directly pressure Skarmory. In return, Rhyperior can check Fire-types such as Darmanitan and Incineroar that force them out. Jirachi can check Kyurem for Rhyperior and appreciates Stealth Rock support to wear down its checks. Mixed Jirachi can also break through Rhyperior's checks such as Slowking, Rotom-W, and Skarmory, while Rhyperior loves support from Wish Jirachi. Noivern can bring in Rhyperior against Tyranitar via U-turn and appreciates Rhyperior checking Mimikyu. In exchange, Noivern can check Keldeo and Starmie and threaten out Skarmory with Flamethrower. Galarian Weezing can provide Toxic Spikes support to wear down the Water-types that Rhyperior hates while also checking Mienshao and Krookodile for Rhyperior. Galarian Weezing also appreciates Rhyperior checking Noivern and Toxtricity.
