Rise of Anubis

anubis.jpg

Anubis is the ancient Egyptian God of Death... And hes come to claim his throne.

Hey there, so I've been lurking on these forums for sometime now and been playing competitive mons since late 3rd gen. I've never amounted to much on the ladder due to my own playful nature and testing so many mons out, never caring for my rank but this team I feel is quite possibly the best and most balanced team I've used. The goal is to help and achieve a Lucario clean up sweep as Lucario is my favourite pokemon. So without anymore delays heres the team?

Dragonite (F)@leftovers
Adamant/252Spe 112Atk 126Hp 4Def 16Spd - Multiscale
Dragon Dance
Outrage
Fire Punch
Earthquake

So Dragonite has amazing chemistry with Lucario, she covers all of his weaknesses and can also dish out some punishment in return.
MultiScale was the make or break choice between Dnite and Mence. The Evs are basicly for some bulk without taking away to much from her sweeping capabilities however shes really just Lucarios "Fail Safe" and helps synergize well with him. I was Previously running the infamous Stone_cold Set that he used in his own RMT called "Reflections" wich really inspired me into using Dnite to support Lucario. All in all a great pokemon and works well with this team. The move set is extremely obvious and the only thing i think i should point out is Earthquake over Espeed for coverage and because i already have 2 priority users thus far. Fire punch for ferrothorn and scizor. Dragon dance to boost her to sky high levels and outrage is the cherry ontop :) her nick name is Cuddles.
Spr_4p_448.png
Lucario (M) @lifeorb
Adamant/252Atk 252Spe 4Hp -Inner Focus
Swords Dance
Close Combat
Extreme Speed
Crunch/ Ice Punch

Well this is the focal point of the team. All efforts go into supporting him and allowing him to wreck everything. Although it isn't easy as I would like it to be. Crunch is there mainly for Jellicent and other bulky ghosts. It also lets me hit Reuniclus hard. I realize without ice punch I'm walled by Gliscor but i find when i was running ice punch gliscor either outsped me or i was walled by the earlier mentioned pokemon. Close combat OHKOs Skarm after SR and SD. Something that makes Lucario the amazing wall breaking beast it is. Ferrocent? SkarmBliss?< Lucario. Extreme Speed is self explanitory and has saved me countless times. Lucario is very underrated and I find a lot of teams don't really prepare for him well enough. His Nickname is Anubis the Egyptian God of death, as the title of this RMT might suggest.

dpmfb485.png
Heatran (M) @Air Balloon
Timid/252Spatk 252Spe 6Hp - Flash Fire
Stealth Rock
Fire Blast/ Lava Plume
Earth Power
Hidden Power Ice

Well I needed SR and i decided a good way to help any team succeed was a FWG core. So i added Heatran to be that Fire pokemon. 4x Resisting Ice and immunity to fire he too works extremely well with Dragonite in covering each others weaknesses. He absorbs fire aimed at Lucario and is a wonderful Scizor check. Heatran also helps Dnite combat Sun teams. The set I'm using is fairly standard but effective and suits my team well. Lava plume for burns/ Fire blast for when I feel I'm lacking the damage out put I desire. Earth power for opposing heatrans, and HP ice for Dragons who lock themselves into Outrage...Also for gliscor before my Balloon breaks or on the switch. One thing I can say about this heatran is aside from it being offensively EV'd its defense still holds up when needed, and for those times when I know it wont I have a solid core to help him through it. His name is Trantastic

vgc2011_jellicent.png
Jellicent (M)@Leftovers
Bold/248Hp 216Def 44Spe - Water absorb
Recover
Toxic
Scald
Taunt

Well heres the water pokemon in my FWG core, also providing useful resistances and immunities. If you havent noticed by now Im fighting weak. Jellicent helps that and Also has a water Immunity wich is always welcomed when dealing with Rain teams. Jellicent spreads Status well and helps cripple opposing threats and allow Lucario to sweep easier. He works well with Heatran too and helps deal with Gliscor and Landorus. Scald is for STAB and burns. We all know despite scald having a 30% burn rate in all actuality its really 100%. Anyways Toxic is for Volcarona and wearing down more bulky mons. Recover is obvious and Taunt ruins blissey and other slower walls like Ferrothorns day. His Nickname is Pringles ( yes i know generic and common too bad).

640-frame1.png
Virizion ( I pretend its a girl) @leftovers
Naive/252Spe 146Atk 112Hp - Justified
Swords Dance
Leaf Blade
Stone Edge/HP ice?
Close Combat

Finally the death of all rain teams, and the Grass of my FWG core, Virizion is a wonderful pokemon to have on any team. She Sweeps quite often as not many people really prepare for her. It only takes one turn to set up and wreck shit. Swords dance is for boosting her less than desirable attack to much needed levels. Leaf Blade provides reliable Stab and works as the main answer to rain. Close combat is also a great stab however I try to not use it as often because in doing so it lowers her special defense( something i tend to count on when dealing with Scarf Rotoms and such) Stone edge is for Gyarados and Other flyers also hits various dragons hard and believe it or not but I've even KO'd Volc on the switch. HP ice i tend to lean on more than Stone edge, because it helps nail Gliscor and Landorus. HP ice also doesn't miss all the time. Her nickname is DaisyDukes (found it appropriate to her typing)

Scizor_sprite_by_mvidmaster.png
Scizor (F) @Choice Band
Adamant/248atk 248Hp 12Spe -Technician
U-turn
Bullet Punch
Super Power
Pursiut

Scizors ability to revenge kill pokemon is unmatched. CB variant of scizor is common however effective. U-turn hurts. Bullet punch is the point of CB scizor. The last two moves go hand in hand, pursuit trapping ghosts and psychics, however one must be careful as many common pokes you might hope to pursuit carry HP fire now, Super power in my experience is more of a move one might use while predicting a scizor counter, but none the less a great and powerful move. Scizor combines with Dragonite amazingly and helps kill off pokemon who might interfere with Lucarios sweep. He also hits Reuniclus hard. Excellent pokemon and its no wonder why everyone uses one. Nickname is Scarab

Threat list...(pending)

Since making the switch to Scizor over Sigilyph , and HP ice over stone edge on Virizion my threats i was used to have been less trouble. Any new threats would be welcomed when spotted :)

Past Members :
561-frame1.png

Sigilyph (M)@Flame orb
Bold/ 252HP 60 def 56Spe 140Spd
Roost
cosmic power
Stored power
Psycho shift

Conclusion : I wanted a team not weak to Volt-Turn , i wanted to be able to handle weather well, and i wanted NO weather of my own but more than that i wanted Lucario to thrive. I feel I've achieved that so far but am always looking for useful additions and critics. In Addition I never lead with the same pokemon i always lead with whats appropriate to the team.

Thanks alot for taking the time to read and rate. My name on PO is either Ecksploding or Eckstreme. :)

Could you post an importable? I'd like to do some in-depth analysis in this team and I can always just battle with it to help me do that. It'll help me find some weaknesses. I'll post those that I find in this post using the edit option

OMG YOU READ "THE RED PYRAMID" TOO HAVEN'T YOU! <3

Hello there, I will be happy to rate your team, as, I too am a big fan of Lucario <3

Opening Thoughts:

I love the Jellicent/Heatran combo you have going. I want to point out your lacking solid walls [Just Jelli and Sygliph, and they have the same weaknesses]. I see a Tornadus plowing threw this team, as well as a Jolteon in rain. Allow me to commence rate:

Flaws:

I see Siglyph as the weakest link. It adds on a fuckton of weaknesses. Dragonite should not lead. It is easily battered down by Poli/T-Tar leads. You need more defensive walls as well. Your offensive and pokemon cores are admireably impressive.

Suggestions:

1.) Siglyph sucks, try running Choice Band Scizor.
Why: Siglyph adds on a bunch of weaknesses to this team. By adding Scizor, you have [a] nice synergy with Dragonite and Lucario it helps better eliminate Lucario's threats.

2.) Heatran doesn't need to be ran offensive, I recommend a special defensive set. Lead with SDef Heatran over Dragonite, as it can lead better.
Why: Specially defensive Heatran has perfect synergy with Jellicent. I reccommend try it.

3.) Virizion is good, but after the loss of a special sweeper, and the loss of your psychic type, try NP Celebi instead.
Why: Celebi can provide special sweeping, and nice synergy with the team, as its psychic typing is appreciated.

@ Anthonias
wow alot of advice, well noted!
On Celebi I really am keen on keeping virizion, and perhaps removing stone edge for hp ice.

I will definatly look into the heatran suggestion, the only reason i ran offensive was for suprise factor. and well Sigi is ...yeah i suppose weak ina sense. i will try CB scizor presently.
Much thanks for the rate :)

Perhaps try CM Virizion?

You have a lot of physical sweepers already, and this would better help you deal with physical walls such as Max Def Ferrothorn and Gliscor.

Virizion @ Leftovers
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Def / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Hope this helps!

Finally, I would watch out for Mixape. Jellicent is a good counter to it, but once that's gone, he could rampage through your team. I'm not sugegsting you change anythiing but if you see an Infernape in Team Preview, play carefully with Jellicent

After testing CM virizion i like it, about the same as i like SD. i just find im walled easier when i CM. And that im less threatening overall. Ill have to keep testing it. Im also finding my Dnite set despite how good it was used to Stone_cold may not be what i need. Anyone think CB nite or even standard is better?

Hey there, Ecksplode. This is a nice team you have here. I tested it a bit and was pleased with the results. However, a few things immediately popped out to me.

First of all, this team is very weak to rain stall. For this reason, I recommend running tinkerbell Celebi over Virizion. Lucario already provides you with a strong fighting type, and Celebi will help you take on rain stall better. You can also opt for the nasty plot set, if you wish. Second of all, I recommend running Reuniclus or Alakazam over Scizor. While you lose priority, you're able to take on Tentacruel better, who essentially is capable of walling this whole team. Another suggestion I think would be good is to run the specially defensive Heatran set. Running stealth rock on choice scarf is just asking to be set up on, and your team is actually relatively easily beaten by Sun Volcarona.

In summary,
Bulky Celebi/Nasty Plot Celebi>Virizion
Reuniclus or Alakazam>Scizor
Specially defensive Heatran>Scarf Heatran

Good luck with this team, it's solid!

Nasty Plit Celebi can use Psychic and set up all over Tentacreul. Just go with Nasty PLot Celebi over Virizion as I mentioned before

I also mentioned running a SDef heatran, and you should. The set includes Stealth Rocks.

really nice team youve got here dude! no major weaknesses stand out at all, which is certainly an accomplishment in today's metagame. i really feel that your team only needs a few smaller changes.

i really dont think you need to be running choice scarf heatran. the only mon it checks that the rest of your team really cant counter effectively is opposing SD luke. however, depending on what move the lucario in question is using, you'll be able to beat it with either dragonite or jellicent, so it isnt a huge deal. if you wanna keep heatran offensive though, you can run a set of stealth rock / fire blast / earth power / hidden power ice, an ev spread of 252 SpA / 4 SpD, 252 Spe, and a modest nature with the item air balloon. this will still let you beat shit like gliscor, as well as make heatran a more versatile attacker for your team, so i think it's a worthwhile change.

so now for smaller fixes! firstly, i know you say you dont like ice punch on luke, but i feel like you should run it simply because your main crunch targets, reuniclus and jellicent, are already destroyed by scizor and virizion, respectively. ice punch at least lets luke maim dragonite, as well as defensive gliscor, so i think you should try it out again. on jellicent, you should be running 248 HP evs instead so that you take less overall damage from spikes. just use a spread of 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe. finally, on scizor, just use an ev spread of 248 HP / 248 Atk / 12 Spe so that you can outspeed opposing choice band scizor.

on heatran, use an offensive variant with stealth rock and air balloon
on lucario, replace crunch with ice punch
on jellicent, use an ev spread of 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
on scizor, use an ev spread of 248 HP / 248 Atk / 12 Spe

really nice team, and good luck man!

Wow Thank you everyone for the great advice and support thus far in helping me achieve a Lucario dominant team :)
I have changed the EV spreads as suggested by Snorlaxe on Jelli and scizor
And have taken the scarf off of tran as everyone seems to agree on :P Currently testing Ice punch on Luc again hoping for better results. With this whole Celebi Vs Virizion Thing im not sure what to make of it all i fear having Celebi will only let Landorus take advantage of my team again wich is a scary though x_x

Will test again though Thanks again

Quick problem: Running Scarf Heatran is pointless if its main goal is to set up the Stealth Rocks. I recommend you use the Air Balloon, which gives you a free turn to use Stealth Rock if say, Landorus KOed a member of your team with Earthquake. Its nature MUST BE TIMID, to be able outspeed Adamant Dragonite and be able to KO it with the Hidden Power [Ice]. Lucario already covers the physical side of your team as a fighting type, so why use a physical Virizion? I recommend a special set, as seen below.

Virizion |
lifeorb.png
| Female
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk | 252 Spe | 4 SDef
Timid Nature (-Atk, +Spe)

~ Calm Mind
~ Giga Drain
~ Focus Blast
~ Hidden Power [Ice]

With this set, you can counter Gliscor, who can wall Lucario and take it down with an Earthquake. This set will being more stability to the team, to lay the pressure off Lucario. Nice team overall, and good luck!

After testing Virizion ive found alot less success with it , rather than the offensive set. Not sure if its just the teams im facing but im finding it alot less effective. SD seems to be the right set. i might take everyone up on Celebi and see how it goes

Also re-did my Dnite set for more offensive ability.
