The point of the team is to hopefully set up 2 layers of toxic spikes and then be able to stall my opponent for the rest of the game using a mixture of Blissey and Gliscor, and using Mamoswine, Cofagrigus and Salamence to deal with any other threats that my strategy isn't working on.
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Def / 60 Spd
Impish Nature
- Toxic
- Protect
- Substitute
- Ice Fang
This is a pretty standard Gliscor, however it has more defense investment than most gliscors running this set. The reason for this is that this team is heavily based around switching between Gliscor and Blissey so that I am easily able to deal with either special or physical attacks, and so I wanted a higher defense investment to make it a safer switch. To be quite honest, I haven't done much calculations on it's Speed so the 60 EVs may be entirely worthless and it might be a good idea to just go full on defense, but the speed is mostly to beat stuff with 100 base speed that decides not to have any speed investment, and it's just able of outspeeding a 0 Speed garchomp if someones crazy enough to run one.
Cofagrigus @ Leftovers
Ability: Mummy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Infestation
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Rest
This was originally a rotom but I've been experimenting with this recently and although I haven't used it that much, it seems to be a lot more valuable than the rotom for this team. The original reason for replacing rotom was this was so that I could have a Rapid Spin blocker so that I can keep my toxic spikes and stealth rocks on the field, as cofagrigus can easily deal with common rapid spinners apart from Starmie and Mega Blastoise, but I'm not sure if people run rapid spin on blastoise anyway. As well as this, it also deals extremely well with powerful threats to my team such as Azumarill, mega mawile and mega medicham. Will-o-wisp allows me to stall any steel types I'm having trouble with, and obviously infestation is very good at helping with toxic stall. I'm not sure if I prefer running chesto or leftovers on it, the chesto is obviously good at first, but seeing as I already have a blissey with aroma I'm not sure if it's necessary, and lefties are a really good item for cofagrigus. Once again the reason I run no spec d is because I want it to be a safe switch as a lot of the toxic stall is based around switching between super bulky physical and special walls.
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 92 SAtk / 164 SDef
Calm Nature
- Aromatherapy
- Flamethrower
- Soft-Boiled
- Toxic
Pretty standard blissey, as I've said before I don't run any defense as in a situation against a physical attacker I just want to switch between cof and gliscor. With this much spec d I can deal with any special attacker in OU including gengar and alakazam focus blasts and I can just about deal with Mega Lucario Aura Spheres and alternate between softboiled and flamethrower against them. I'm able to easily beat any alakazam or gengar with flamethrower and there is not a single special attacker in ou that can beat this thing, and I can get up free aromatherapies and toxics against most things.
Salamence @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 60 Atk / 196 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Claw
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
Salamence in general is just a really strong pokemon, and with this set it is super effective to every steel type in the game which is a really good asset to have when using a toxic stall team. Super strong lead and easily deals with things like ferrothorn and forretress as well as most physical attackers.
Greninja @ Focus Sash
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature
- Hydro Pump
- U-turn
- Ice Beam
- Toxic Spikes
I run sash so that I can almost always get up 2 layers of toxic spikes if it's a situation where sacrificing the greninja for toxic spikes is worth it, and if I get the first layer up on a switch then this greninja continue to be a threat. Usually I don't end up sacrificing the greninja for the toxic spikes, but having it as an option makes it super easy to deal with some teams. If I get up the first layer of spikes on a switch the greninja can be a threat for the rest of the game and it's generally just a really strong asset to the team.
Mamoswine @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Stealth Rock
This and greninja are the only ways I can deal with salamence on this team, and they can both do it really easily. I run HP Lefties which is a surprise to most people and makes it a much safer switch, and seeing as this is the only pure physical attacker on the team is good to be able to keep it alive. Running HP on it actually works out really well a lot of the time, and I expect most of you are gonna be confused as to why I do this but in the context of the team it works out really well. I run icicle crash instead of Icicle spear because I prefer the consistency of it and I'm usually able to deal with dragonites easily anyway using gliscor.
This team is really weak to mixed attackers and every time I see a lucario I panic, and as well as this I have no rapid spin but seeing as I have a lot of healing on this team it usually doesn't end up being a problem, and the only thing on this team that cares about sticky web is greninja, and I don't know what I would replace for a spinner. Rotom is also super annoying, it can't beat blissey, however blissey can't beat it. Looking forward to your feedback and any improvements I can make to the team.
