RMFT - Capn' Olimars UU/BL team

This wasn't meant to be a BL/UU team, but it turned out to be anyway. I have tested this team on shoddy and it has worked quite well, but I know I can still improve on it. So without further ado, here's my team.

The team at a glance-

Kecleon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Color Change
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/6 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- Magic Coat
- Sucker Punch
- Snatch
---
This set is very good as a lead. The strategy is to fake out to deal quite a bit of damage to anything that doesn't resist it, then either magic coat, sucker punch, or snatch, depending on what move I think the opponent will use. Magic coat bounces back moves like Hypnosis, Thunder wave, etc, and Snatch steals moves like Reflect, Dragon dance, etc, which are all fairly common moves for leads. This also works well later in the game against pokemon such as Gyarados, because it can snatch its Dragon dances and hit back with a powered up Sucker Punch.

This set relies very heavily on prediction, but if used correctly it works wonders.

Flygon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 80 HP/252 Atk/176 Spd
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Outrage
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- U-turn
---
Standard scarf flygon set. Outrage does a huge chunk of damage to anything that doesn't resist it, Fire Blast can hit skarmory quite hard even with its low sp. atk, Earthquake hits things very hard as well, and is great for killing heatran, and U-turn is good for some quick hit-n-run damage.

Awesome revenge killer.

Grumpig (M) @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP/100 Spd/158 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Rest
- Focus Blast
---
This Grumpig has high Special defense and HP, so it takes special hits very well. After a calm mind, its special attack reaches 324, so it can also hit very hard with its attacking moves.

A pretty good special tank.

Ninetales (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hypnosis
- Flamethrower
- Nasty Plot
- Energy Ball
---
This is a standard Ninetales. The way this works is you hypnosis the enemy to get at least one free nasty plot, and sweep with your high special attack.

A decent special attacker that I am considering replacing, due to its only pretty good speed.

Ursaring (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Quick Feet
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Facade
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
---
After a Swords dance, this gets 718 attack, and when it is statused, it will have a 210 BP facade, and 343 speed thanks to Quick Feet. Close Combat and Stone Edge provide extra coverage.

A very strong physical attacker that requires some prediction to set up, but is definitely worth it afterwards.

Sharpedo (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Double-edge
---
With attack and speed both over 370, this is a pretty good physical scarfer. The moveset provides an unresisted type combination, and hits very hard with its high attack and 100+ base power moves.

A physical scarfer. I have Flygon already, so I should probably replace this with a physical wall.
---
I should probably mention there's no stealth rock because I oppose stealth rock. Also, I'm thinking I need some sort of physical wall, any suggestions?

Thanks for helping!

I absolutely suggest getting rid of Sharpedo, you have Flygon already and you need something to take hits on the Physical side of things. A Scyther will just walk all over your team. I try experimenting with common UU walls such as Steelix and Aggron.

Also, bar Thick Fat and a slightly high SpA, Hypno does everything Grumpig does, just that much better. Hypno can take more Physical hits, it can Plot instead of CM if you want more immediate results and Hypno can Wish which Offensively heavy teams like this one need direly.

I would highly suggest SR somewhere on your team. Steelix can fit on your team to be able to take on Scyther, provide some decent resistances and set up SR.

Yeah, I suppose Steelix or Aggron would be a good addition.

I may consider Hypno, but I am a much bigger fan of grumpig, and Thick fat is pretty useful. But wish support would be a good idea.

Lol, I posted that last part not PidgeFTW, just saying

Thick Fat is pretty good on Grumpig especially when running it along side Steelix. I would stay away from Aggron seeing as Hitmontops are all over the place.

Hey

Are you planning on using this team in the OU tier? Or do you plan on having private battles with BL/UU pokemon only? I'm going to try rate your team to deal with OU threats but will attempt to stick to BL/UU pokemon if I can.

Ok, first things first. That is a nice Kecleon lead, with Fake Out + Sucker Punch getting good priority hits. Thing is, neither Snatch nor Magic Coat do anything to Stealth Rock, and so you will sit helpless for a turn as the opponent sets up SR. For this reason I suggest you forgo Magic Coat (as status leads are rarely seen nowadays, if at all) and put Stealth Rock in its place. With SR of your own you don't need to sit idle as the opposing Azelf sets up rocks, and then you can simply Sucker Punch its Explosion. SR will greatly aid your own sweepers do their job well. As added insurance against status leads, replace Leftovers with Lum Berry now that you've gotten rid of Magic Coat.

I would give Ursaring Fire Punch over Stone Edge. Stone Edge doesn't hit anything harder than Facade, apart from Ghost types. Normal + Fighting + Fire gives you perfect coverage, and Fire Punch lets you hit Skarmory, Bronzong, Forretress for super effective damage.

Change Sharpedo's set to the following:

Sharpedo @ Choice Scarf
Naughty
252 Atk, 40 SpA, 216 Spe

- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam

216 Spe EVs let you outspeed all opposing Scarf Heatrans and Scarfed base 90s such as Porygon-Z and Lucario. The 40 SpA EVs let you get a OHKO on a 4HP Salamence, making you that much more effective a revenge killer.

Hope this helps. If you are willing to have OU pokemon added to your team then let me know and I can expand on this rate. Good luck with your team.

LR.

Thanks. I guess I should replace something for stealth rock, but magic coat screws over Yanmega and Gengar leads, so I'm not sure about that.
As for Sharpedo, I suppose that's a good idea. I'll try it out.
