Rmt- Balanced NU

Hey guys it's your favorite ghost back for another rmt. I always wanted to try NU, because OU gets boring. The thing is, everytime I made a team, it sucked terribly. So I tried again, this time I put in a lot of thought, and the result was a team that actually has done well! Regardless of how good it's been doing, I would like some more experienced NU players to look it over. I'm still not too familiar with the tier, so any suggestion are welcome. Here is the team starting with my lead:

Golem @ Custap Berry

Trait: Sturdy

EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP

Adamant Nature

  • Earthquake

  • Explosion

  • Stealth Rock

  • Rock Blast
Golem is my suicide lead. He sets up the all important rocks, and then (hopefully) uses his custap berry to kill himself. Explosion is what I regularly use, but in some situations (like a subbing hauter) I use rock blast or other times earthquake. Adamant and attack EVs for the most damage possible, speed for out speeding other rock setters, and because I want him to get to sturdy range. investing in bulk would be useless.

Misdreavus @ Eviolite

Trait: Levitate

EVs: 212 Def / 48 Spd / 248 HP

Bold Nature

  • Will-O-Wisp

  • Shadow Ball

  • Pain Split

  • Taunt
Ah Misdreavus, the most helpful Pokemon on this team so far. Misdreavus is my physical wall, spinblocker (much needed since Golem is always gone), taunter and general annoyer. Thanks to its type and ability it always performs well at its job being a wall, and spinblocker. Will-O-Wisp is there to render Sawk, Sawsbuck, and any other physical sweepers useless. It helps Misdreavus become unkillable when they attack too. Shadow ball is my STAB move of choice, it does decent damage to some things, and hey, you always need an attacking move of some sort. Pain split is there for the best recovery it gets (works well with its bad HP too), and taunt is for stopping Pokemon that use it as as setup fodder. I have heal bell covered, so I ruled that out and used taunt instead. The EVs maximize bulk and the speed allows to outspeed Adamant Rampardos. Only 40 are needed, but I know some people speed creep at 44. I like creeping on the creepers, so I put 48.

Lickilicky @ Leftovers

Trait: Own Tempo

EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Def

Careful Nature

  • Wish

  • Heal Bell

  • Protect

  • Body Slam
Regardless of what you think of its looks, Lickilicky is an awesome special wall. Wish is to support the team, for Misdreavus it's invaluable as it lack its own reliable recovery. Wish is also appreciated for Gorebyss so it can still find setup opportunities, even if it was weakened before. Protect ensures it can get a wish of its own for recovery. Heal bell heals status obviously (much appreciated on Gorebyss and Misdreavus), and body slam is great for doing damage, and paralysis support. It also has great synergy with Misdreavus.

Primeape @ Choice Scarf

Trait: Anger Point

EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP

Jolly Nature

  • Close Combat

  • U-turn

  • Ice Punch

  • Stone Edge
No we get to the offense. Primeape is awesome. Its speed is perfect for a choice scarf, as it outspeeds everything not scarfed. Close combat for the insane power, and STAB. U turn for scouting, and the rest are just coverage moves. This is pretty standard, so there's not much else to say.

Gorebyss @ White Herb

Trait: Swift Swim

EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP

Timid Nature

  • Shell Smash

  • Hydro Pump

  • Ice Beam

  • Hidden Power [Grass]
My setup sweeper. If I can burn a physical attacker, I usually send in Gorebyss, thanks to its high defense and the burn drop, I get a free shell smash. So I smash when the counters are gone, and sweep. Really not much else to say.

Kadabra @Focus sash

Trait: Magic Guard

EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP

Timid Nature

  • Psychic

  • Signal Beam

  • Hidden Power [Fighting]

  • Encore
Kadabra is my cleaner. After the damage by Primeape, and Gorebyss is done, Kadabra comes in to finish them off. Its high speed and special attack are key. Psychic for STAB, signal beam for Musharna and Gardevoir, and Encore to get more hits in when I can (it's always OHKOed). HP fighting for Steel/rock types.

So that's the team. I've only lost once so far, but I always need improvements! Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for any suggestions :D.

Hey, very nice picture :D

Anyway, some of your descriptions are nice and long, but a few don't exceed the three line minimum. That might need to be fixed. Then people will rate your team more!

Sorry..if I did that I would want to be warned before it gets locked

Just a quick nitpick, I would personally go with vital spirit > anger point as it gives you a great answer to sleep inducers, and anger point is pretty, well, pointless (pun intended) as chances are any crit primeape is hit with will ohko him anyway.

And a little bit of minimodding from twiggy, what up with that?

Hi there.

Relatively standard bulky offense team here, and as such I don't find very much to comment on. I will say, however, that I replace Gorebyss's current Shell Smash set and replace it with its SubSmash set. Not only is it going to be more effective when matching up against revenge killers, but the biggest niche that it has going for its team is its ability to set up a Substitute on Alomomola and Metang without having to worry about being crippled by Toxic. This will turn them into complete setup fodder, which is pretty important for this team considering how few answers that you have of stopping them. Most of what you have already don't perform very well in terms of switching in, and they usually lose to the two of them 1v1 do to the lack of immediately overwhelming power from this team besides Golem's Explosion. As far as a coverage move goes for Gorebyss, I would consider using Signal Beam to get a solid hit on Jynx and Ludicolo, both are which are a lot more relevant than the targets of Ice Beam and Hidden Power Grass (Surf will still inflict a good chunk of after a boost or two for the latter's targets and Signal Beam covers Grass-types decently well also). With SubSmash, Gorebyss can afford to tone down the EVs a bit and run enough Speed EVs to outspeed at least Swellow after a boost with a Modest nature.

For anything else, I would recommend Audino over Lickilicky for a more offensive team like this one. Regenerator allows Audino to spend more time passing around its large Wishes to its teammates, making it work more effective on offensive teams as a pivot and usually providing less opportunities to cut down so much momentum since now it doesn't have to worry about having to use Protect nearly as much. It can even run Thunder Wave over that if necessary, allowing you to cripple opposing offensive teams that can help your offensive Pokemon pick them off later on the match.

Hope I helped.

Gorebyss: White Herb Shell Smash > SubSmash (EVs to outspeed Swellow at +2 are 48 HP / 252 SpA / 208 Spe with a Modest nature. Set consists of Substitute / Shell Smash / Surf / Signal Beam)

Audino @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Wish
- Heal Bell
- Double-Edge
- Protect / Thunder Wave

Golem / Misdreavus / Lickilicky / Primeape / Gorebyss / Kadabra

Hi TheGhost, this is a pretty decent team you've got here, and i agree with Dell's suggestion of adding Audino > Lickilicky. As well as the different ability on Primeape. SubSmash gorebyss is also a lot more effective right now because it can beat Jynx, the biggest threat in the tier.

I do have one other suggestion for your team though, and that is to use a bulky Golem instead of the Custap set.

As it stands now, Golem is really your only check against Flying types that you have, as Misdreavus doesn't have the bulk to repeatedly take hits. Because you use Golem as a suicide lead, you open yourself up to Braviary, Swellow and Kangaskhan, as Missy just can't take hits from them. The gimmick of custap golem has generally fallen over time, and it just isn't any better than the bulky set. You will still easily set up Stealth Rock even without Custap Berry, and it fits a lot better with the general flow of your team.

tl;dr Custap golem isn't very good, and regular golem lets you check major threats to your team.

the set:

Golem @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 200 HP / 56 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- Sucker Punch

if you have any other questions about this set, just let me know and I can explain it more!
