ORAS OU RMT Excadrill Sand

Sand rush excadrill is a monster and a really challenging pokemon to beat, so i decided to make a team centered around sand and see how it will work. if you have any tips for me i'd be happy to hear them, on with the team!

Hippowdon @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Slack Off
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake

Hippowdon is a solid wall for physical attacks while also having a great ability for this team, sand stream. I used to have leftovers on hippo however I would find that sand would run out and I'd have to play around getting Hippo back in, so I swiched to smooth rock and its worked out great. I have Slack Off for recovery, Toxic to weaken walls, Stealth Rocks because it puts alot of Pokemon into 1HKO range from drill, then earthquake for stab.

Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance

This Pokemon is what I wanted to put in the most offensive work for me. Excadrill with sand up is a win-con for almost every match up, along with a strong attack stat making it more powerful. I have the standard coverage along with Swords Dance. I don't use Swords Dance often however it is there just in case.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Rotom-wash is a really great pivot in order to get in my Hippo and other Pokemon you'll see later to have them do work. it also can burn physical attackers which is always useful. Along with Pain Split to get health back.

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Roost
- Healing Wish

After playing with this team for a bit i realized i had no switch in's to mega Venusaur or Serp. so I added a Latias to check them. It's a fairly standard set that hits hard and takes hits. Roost for staying alive and Healing Wish to get my powerful Pokemon to a high amount of health.

Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Protect

Diancie is a very strong Pokemon that i have been able to make fit with this team in my mega slot, i have a very standard set however it works out well for me in checking a lot of common leads like Garchomp. It also can do work to Pokemon like heatran and charizard along with taking talonflame hits very well.

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick

One thing I quickly noticed is that a defensive landorus walls Excadrill in a lot of ways, and a lot of teams are weak to weavile so why not bring it. Weavile is a monster with priority and strong stabs. He is also my knock off user for this team. Fairly standard set but it always works well.

If you have any input feel free to say something, also you are free to use this team if you want.

Hey TTrevor, your team looks really nice. I'm not a big fan of Sand Teams, but yours seems to be okay. Lets quickly do a rundown of your entire team. Your Sand Rush Excadrill looks fine, though I may suggest running Jolly over Adamant, as other Sand Rush Jolly Excadrill will outspeed and KO most of your team. The Hippowdon set is okay, but I recommend a Mixed Wall Hippo set like I've listed below to take hits better from Raikou. Rotom-W looks like a decent enough addition to your team, and the speed creep is fine. Rotom is also a switch/wall for Landorus-T, something your team struggles to counter. I would change Latias' EV spread to make it less of an attacker and more of a support/utility mon with the set below, as your team is a bit Keldeo weak. I agree, Mega Diancie is a strong attacker in the metagame, but Mega Gardevoir (for a more offensive role) and Mega Venusaur (for a more defensive role) are better on Sand Teams, in my opinion. Mega Gardevoir is not weak to Keldeo or Serperior and can hit them extremely hard with Pixilated Hyper Voice and Psyshock. Mega Venusaur can wall both Keldeo and Serperior and retaliate with Giga Drain or Sludge Bomb if you wanted a more defensive Pokemon. Weavile seems a little slapped on to your team, and for a fast revenge killer I would change Weavile for either Alakazam or Raikou, as they both handle threats to your team. Overall, a very nice team, but I would make a few adjustments to handle large threats in the current metagame. Check out the sets I've listed below.
