SS OU RMT first competitive Gen 8 Team - looking for some help

Hi Guys

Have done a fair bit of competitive battling in gen 6 and 7, however I am by no means accomplished. This is my first team in the new meta game so please go easy-ish.

Im not aiming to post anything revolutionary, there’s a lot of standard sets used. I’m trying to build a team with synergy, and also to cover as wide a range of mons as possible.

Anyway here is the team:

https://pokepast.es/644351856f7d2076

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
Happiness: 160
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Spikes

thorn is there to provide special bulk to the team as well as to set hazards and just generally be a nuisance. He provides me with a way to stop toxricity, seismitoad, Dracovish and a few others such as well as a way to keep Grimmsnarl busy. Fairly standard Pokemon expect I have chose to run careful as I want to use protect over gyro ball to gain additional recovery with leftovers and potentially leech seed and also to scout opponents moves.

Rotom-Heat @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Trick

I added Rotom to my team in order to trick annoying defensive Pokemon like Clefable and Corviknight, which stops them from calm minding or bulking up, and also as a way to deal with Hatterene and Mandibuzz. In addition to that I also use volt switch in order to bring in Excadrill or Dragapult for free. I run will o wisp over thunderbolt in order to cripple attackers. His levitate ability also comes in useful, especially on sand rush drill.

Toxapex (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
Happiness: 160
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic
- Haze
- Recover

Standard Pex is used to deal with physical threats like Bisharp, Tyranitar, Hawlucha and Gyarados and Darmsnitan without Earthquake. Idea is simply to spread poison and also Haze out stat boosting Pokemon and attempt to burn them. Forms a good partnership with thorn and helps me check a good deal of the meta. Nothing out of the ordinary, but seems to always perform really well.

Clefable (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
Happiness: 160
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower
- Stealth Rock
- Moonlight

Clefable used in order to provide stealth rock support, and also as a way of dealing with Hydregion and Dragapult. I opted for moonlight instead of wish in order to free up an attack for flamethrower to catch Bisharp and drill on the switch in. He also provides a bit more general bulk and annoyance to my team. Magic Guard is used to avoid switch in and status damage and leftovers to add a bit more overall bulk through recovery.

Excadrill (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
Happiness: 160
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin
- Swords Dance

Drill is my wall breaker, and also a potential win condition. Rapid spin is used to clear hazards as well as to obtain a speed boost, and swords dance is used to boost his attack. Leftovers is used to prolong drills lifespan. It also provides a little extra insurance with 2 resistances. Ideally used late game when I have a chance to set up and his threats have been dealt with. Jolly was ran over Adamant in order to maximise his speed.

Dragapult (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
Happiness: 160
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt

Simply my late game sweeper. Iv ran the standard specs on it however do like to use expert belt from time to time. Useful for dealing with hydregeon and other pokes behind is a substitute as well as minikyu. Also used for general offensive pressure and to force switches as well as to add speed to the team, and also to provide a fighting type resistance. T-Bolt is used to deal with the likes of pex, while flamethrower is used to deal with the likes of ferrothorn. Flamethrower was used over Fire Blast for accuracy reasons.

I’m sure there’s plenty of holes in this team. I am having an issue with Mold Breaker Drill currently, and also Darmanitan with earthquake is a problem. However I do find this team a lot of fun to use.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

This team is pretty standard, atleast in terms of its structure, so it's bound to do you atleast decently well. As you mentioned, Darmanitan-G is a big problem, and I have yet to ever really see a Darmanitan without EQ. It's possible for you to play around Darmanitan with the right predictions, though, just because the team compliments itself well enough.
