Team Granite
Hello! I've just started competitive battling last month of early December. I've got alot of few tips and tricks for my team from other communities but I'd like to expand my horizon and look for other veterans to give me more guidance on this. So, I'd like to present my team, Team Granite!
Sableye @ Mental Herb
Calm
Prankster
252 HP 252 Def 6 Speed
Will-o-Wisp
Confuse Ray
Recover
Knock Off
The lead man of my team. With Mental Herb he can recover from Whimsicott's Taunt for a turn and mess him up with Confuse Ray. He can also recover from other status moves as stated in (www.serebii.net/itemdex/mentalherb.shtml). It is either that, or I switch into Espeon (which I will cover it later on) and Magic Bounce the Status Effect back to Whimsicott and other Status Effect-er!
Being Calm, I can invest 252 in Def because he has Will-o-Wisp to handle Physical Attackers.
Will-o-Wisp allows me to cripple Physical Attackers and burning down Walls/Tanks.
Confuse Ray is of course, to confuse Pokemons into hitting themselves, especially when they up their attack stats only to OHKO itself
Recover gives sustainability and to wear down walls that are burned.
Knock Off provides good STAB while annoying the opponent, knocking down their valuable held items.
Tyranitar @ Focus Sash
Adamant
Sand Stream
252 HP 252 Sp.Def 6 Speed
Pursuit
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Stealth Rock
My Physical Tank. Focus Sash allows him to stay alive and take down Physical Sweepers that are weak to his movesets. He is able to tank good amount of damage from OU Talonflame on a switch in and set up Stealth Rock, if Talonflame stays in to kill with Steel Wing (which I don't think it can kill Tyranitar nor will smart Talonflame users will do that) I will go for the kill and Stone Edge. If I predict a switch I will Pursuit. Earthquake allows him to deal with Magnezone and other coverage.
Overall, he can still tank good against Special Sweepers under Sandstorm and dish out good amount of damage.
Noivern @ Choice Specs
Timid
Infiltrator
252 Sp. Atk 252 Speed 6 HP
Switcheroo
Draco Meteor
Hurricane
Flamethrower
My Revenge Killer/Special Sweeper. Giving Choice Specs allows him to deal high damage with his high Speed cap as Timid.
Infiltrator can hit through subs and screens.
Switcheroo is there to wreck their support/lead if they switch into either of them.
Draco Meteor is STAB and has really good damage that can Revenge Kill/Sweep those don't resist it. After using one, however, I will immediately switch out to a Tank.
Hurricane is another STAB move and although has 70% accuracy, it is really worth it if it hits.
Flamethrower is to deal with its coverage with 100% accuracy.
Sylveon @ Leftovers
Bold
Pixilate
252 Def 252 HP 6 Sp. Def
Wish
Calm Mind
Trump Card->Hyper Voice
Shadow Ball
My Special Tank. Leftovers is for survivability to restore bits of health each turn.
Going Bold and invest in 252 Def I can maximize her bulk with her high Sp. Def. I know Florges can do better but there is one thing Florges can't do what Sylveon can; Pixilate. Yes, the added damage to normal attacks and changing it to Fairy-type.
Wish support is always welcome for herself and her switch-in allies and to build up Calm Mind.
Calm Mind is ever so useful against Special Tanks/Special Sweepers with Wish+CM combo they will either be forced to switch or stay in. Once I have CM-ed twice, thrice for luxury. My next move will dish out high damage.
Trump Card, yes I know, it can suck. But until I find Eevee with Hyper Voice I'm going to use this instead. And surprisingly it has worked out fine. I know the early PP makes its damage puny, but at 5PP after Pixilate it's almost equivalent to a Shadow Ball. Building up Trump Card damage does take timing in my experience. With that 1 PP left, it goes high as about 371! With the building of CM early it's enough to take down a Wall! So I might consider switching to Hyper Voice once it's out and will test it out for its consistency.
Shadow Ball is for coverage.
Espeon @ Light Clay
Timid
Magic Bounce
252 HP 252 Speed 6 Def
Reflect
Light Screen
Wish
Psychic
Espeon is my Dual Screener and as well a Wish-Passer. However, its potential lies in its Magic Bounce.
Light Clay to increase duration of dual screens.
Timid and 252 in Speed allows it to outspeed most Fighting-types (Potentially, Infernape and Blaziken) and kill them first with Psychic with its STAB and high Sp.Atk.
Dual Screens are self-explanatory.
Basically, all her moveset are explained already.
Lucario @ Lucarionite
Adamant
Inner Focus->Adaptability
252 Atk 252 Speed 6 HP
Sword Dance
Close combat
Bullet Punch
Crunch
My Physical Sweeper, my main Pokemon, my partner. He's always been my favourite and will be.
Adamant and his EVs spread increases his powerhouse capabilities.
Inner Focus allows him to not be flinched by Fake Out or other flinching attacks.
Sword Dance increases this beast's attack stat that goes along with its Adaptability. Having to SD once is really good, giving me to do twice will make the opponent ever regret letting me.
Close Combat is his strongest STAB move ever for Adaptability.
Bullet Punch is priority move and STAB. With this, I can potentially take out Gengar and many other non-priority users that are faster than it except for Talonflames or other priority users faster than M. Lucario. But that is a job for my other Pokemons to cover his weaknesses.
Crunch is to deal with Chandelure and other bulky Ghost/Psychic-types.
Closing Note
So this is my team and I hope I cover most or all of it up by explaining its composition and all. I hope to get feedbacks and how to make it better, or even rate how it is! If there will be some Pokemon changes; keep in mind that my favourite Pokemons are; Lucario and Sylveon!
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this up!
