Hello All!! This is my first competitive team for OU and I am looking to dip my toes into the water for some ideas on what I can do to improve my game and team, with that I present to you “The God Force.” This is a semi balanced team with minimal threats and lots of potential for ladder climbing. Then again I must remind you that I am no where near as good as many of you on this thread but I am ready for any ideas. Another point I want to add, is that this team is a mixture of some strats you may have seen before so bare with my version of
Lil’ Cutie (Jirachi) @ Ring Target
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Trick
- Iron Head
- U-turn
The first mon and my lead is non other than jirachi. This mon is excellent for our speeding most stealth rock leads and has ring target with trick in order to grant regieleki the freedom for an OKO for sweeping. Jirachi’s Serene Grace is also a great source of utility for Iron Head due to the flinch chance being doubled. Not to mention that this mon can OKO a large amount of Fairy carries. The biggest threat to jirachi off a lead is a speedy Garchomp, as he can easily OKO Jirachi
God Speed (Regieleki) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Transistor
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Electro Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
The next mon and the core of the team is the god himself Regieleki. This mon is a monster in OU with a whopping 500+ speed and a passive ability boosting his moves. He can effectively 1-2 hit KO almost any basic/light defensive mon. Some tougher or higher specially defensive mons will withstand a third hit but keep in mind that Eleki can use Electro Ball so slower moving tanks will still get one shot due to speed differentials. Not to mention that ground moves are the only super effective type moves to affect Eleki. So his weakness pool is low but keep in mind priority moves and Knock Off because they will mess up your day. Be mindful of the time in which you swap to Eleki as he is a literally piece of glass. Ground and priority moves are your counter and a quick mention is use Tapu Koko’s terrain boost to your advantage if possible to literally demolish teams
Piss Missle (Garchomp) @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Scale Shot
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab
Garchomp is one of my favorite OU Pokémon by far as his kit is insane. This is a quite basic setup for moves and stats and that’s for a good reason. Having mid 300 speed is enough to out speed most ground type leads. Chomp can also scale his stats with this kit in order to Earthquake clean teams with the help of his Life Orb. Dragonite and lots of other Dragon type mons are out speed by Chomp allowing him to be a huge threat to most Dragon heavy teams. Be care as most teams have fairies so use Jirachi and Bisharp and subs to tank Moonblast and other Ice type moves. Besides those the all time biggest popular OU threat is Dragapult. Having 420 speed Pult can easily turn on the red light for your plans to sweep teams unless Scale Shot is used to improve speed. If Dragapult is present use Bisharp to sub up
Fire Flower (Volcarona) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Flamethrower
- Defog
- Psychic
Yet another popular setup for another popular mon we come to Volcarona. This mon is also a hasty mon that can sweep and OKO a large selection of OU threats for most teams. This includes any Steel/Grass/Ice carries. Having mid 300 speed Volc can simply Flamethrower to secure OKO. In the case of having a turn or two to spend, Quiver Dance is a huge tool to prepare to sweep or delete cores for teams. Note that Flame Body should be used often as it’s high chance allows you to bully Physical Attackers out of carrying. Keep in mind that Stone Edge is a red flag for you when this mon is present. It can end your day faster than expected, so keep away from Urshifu!
Sir Cumface (Bisharp) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
Bisharp is 100% the underdog of this team. Lots of trainers frown upon the use of this mon super offensively but this is your pocket trick card to throw off your opponents game. Knock off with Life Orb is extremely useful to possibly OKO mons and to slow down teams as a whole. Don’t forget about Sucker Punch being a clutch cleanup for carries with low health trying to sweep. Some players will see the Sucker Punch coming so Swords Dance has been equipped to help the high damage potential. I will add that Dragapult will have quite a hard time running down your team as long as Bisharp is alive so only swap to him if needed and his ability can be used to counter Intimidate for a free boost. Any Ground or Fighting mons should be alerted to you as they can easily OKO Bisharp the second he comes in so don’t make the mistake of trying to Sucker Punch them out
Grass Master (Rillaboom) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Grassy Surge
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Grassy Glide
- Drum Beating
- Knock Off
The last of my team is Rillaboom the grass god. Being single typed lowers the amount of counter typing but Grass is nothing to brag about so be mindful of your opponents before summoning this mon. With that, let’s put Rilla on the side of the course that allows your team to have an instant Water/Ground counter with tons of speed (Terrain Boost) and physical attack/defense. Bulk Up was added to be spammed during buffer turns to help sweep through teams. Keep in mind that if Jirachi fails to take care of the Ground type lead, Rilla has full potential to OKO the problem at hand. Lots of Water typeset your opponents team will see Rilla as an ultra threat with his priority moves and high defense. Grass has 5 super effective counter types so beware of your opponent when they are willing to take out Rillaboom. Keep him in pocket unless he is able to takeout at least one mon without a problem.
If you’ve made it this far I want to thank you!! I wrote this up late at night so bare with me I wish I could write more but I don’t want to bore you. I will accept any comments you have and any concerns or suggestions! Use this team to meme through the OU ladder and make your opponents jealous.
