RMT - Going Old-School

I ran back at NetBattle, saw my old Adv team and decided to revamp it to fit the D/P enviroment. It has fared well so far and although it isn't perfect it still does fine.

Zapdos: Leftovers
Bold
EVS: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe
Ability: Pressure
-Light Screen
-U-Turn
-Thunderbolt
-Roost

Last Gen I used the Toxic, Roar, HP Ice, Thunderbolt Zapdos to beat my opponents. And looking at recent updates to Zapdos in D/P I am glad I changed him. U-Turn turns out to be much more effective then one would think especially with those evs. It screws up subseeders and allows me to take control of common leads as CBTar or Wobbuffet. Light Screen is also a nice thing to use with it as he is incredibly sturdy defensively however he lacks in the special side with all those defense evs. With LS that easily changes meaning nothing hits hard. And speaking of that I can Screen, then U-Turn to a strong defensive pokemon such as swampert. The last spot had me confused for a while. Toxic, Roost, Hidden Power, or Roar? Well with two attacking moves already I do not have a need for Hidden Power. Toxic didn't seem right on Zapdos this gen but it still could be effective. But it was down to Roar and Roost. And seeing how sturdy I am defensively I selected Roost for quick healing. I think I made a good choice.

Swampert: Leftovers
Relaxed
EVS: 236 HP / 180 Def / 92 SpA
Ability: Torrent
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Ice Beam
-Roar

What loves being U-Turned to with Light screen in effect and a Rock attack about to be thrown? Swampert. This team is 4/6 of my team last gen and I am glad to see Swampert got the support he needs in the form of Stealth Rock. Switching into Tyranitars is fun as he takes the SE's like a man. Ice Beam is for dragons and the evs is to secure kills. Roar is for phazing and something I passed up on Zapdos.

Salamence: Leftovers
Naughty
EVS: 164 HP / 40 Atk / 168 SpA /136 Spe
Ability: Intimidate
-Wish
-Draco Meteor
-Brick Break
-Fire Blast

I think this is a guarenteed 2HKO on Blissey with Brick Break. At least this is what I used in Adv although I moves some speed to HP. WishMence, modified ;). Very cruel. Draco Meteor hits extremely hard even without specs plus I can alternate attacks with Fire Blast first. Brick Break is the thing Mence needs as it effectively deals with blissey switch ins thinking you are specsmence or the rare empoleons. I need wish support and nothing scares people off like a salamence. This is my most effective way of breaking skarmbliss and Weavile can pick apart the bones of blissey is she does not die.

Weavile: Choice Band
Jolly
EVS: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
Ability: Pressure
-Ice Shard
-Pursuit
-Brick Break
-Night Slash

One of the 2 new pokemon I added to this team. Gengar was a monster last generation and even a bigger one here. However Weavile effectively deals with it. I really can't comment on it as we all know its big role which is to revenge kill. And boy does it ever. Weavile is a scary thing to face and hits a lot of types.

Celebi: Leftovers
Bold
EVS: 236 HP / 104 Def / 32 SpA /136 Spe
Ability: Natural Cure
-Psychic
-Grass Knot
-Heal Bell
-Leech Seed

I love this. Heal Bell gives me a huge assist as this team hates status as you can tell. Leech Seed is needed on Celebi Sets because it allows you to effectively regain health and still hurt the opponent. Grass Knot and Psychic were so hard to choose against so ... I picked both of them haha. Psychic deals with Heracross (who I outspeed by the way :naughty:), Weezing, Infernape switches who think they can run all over you. Grass Knot helps with Pert, Gyara, and hits other annoying stuff like Hippo who survive.

Forretress: Leftovers
Relaxed
EVS: 220 HP / 36 Atk / 220 Def
Ability: Sturdy
-Gyro Ball
-Spikes
-Rapid Spin
-Toxic Spikes

And the big wall one of the other 2 new pokemon to this team. Gyro ball hits hard and seeing no other need for any other attacks I put in toxic Spikes and Spikes. And it is Amazing. With a steel typing and incredible defense, I usually am guarenteed to have 3 chances to spike it up. My best way is to set one layer of normal spikes and 2 layers of toxic spikes. Rapid Spin to deal with other annoying spikers and stuff.

This team may seem a bit stallish and stuff like advance but it wins consistently something I need. I really need some help though because I feel like something is missing from this team.

Hmm, okay, unless Zapdos is Baton Passing, he isn't your best lead, since he does infact carry some useful things you may need late game (ie. Light Screen, and U-Turn), and doesn't outspeed some common leads (Choice Specs Salamence, Weavile). Lead with swampert, you CAN take most of the common leads, and most of the time get an early stealth rock off. Hmm, okay, weavile. Weavile outspeeds gengar, and if it is a problem, pursuit still hits 88-104% IF it stays in, and 99.9% of the time, it is going to attept to switch, + you have stealth rock out by now most likely, making that stay in percentage more probable to KO, so I would add Ice Punch to Night Slash's Place, for a nice strong STAB move to go with its quick Ice Shard. (Same principals apply to starmie if you have problems with it.)

Right now Slash is for Cresselia who I hope to score crits on but If That isn't a big concern you are right. I probably should go with Ice Punch. Zapdos doesn't stay in too often to be honest but he prevides a great opportunity to beat Tar and Azelf leads early. I could change him up but I am not going to be careless with him

Your team looks pretty solid however, I think some individual pokemons don't function well, especially in DP.

For example, a Roosting Salamence is a lot better than a Wisher. Roost allows Salamence to have the obvious instant recovery and gets rid of some of its weakness, which may let you last longer. Wish without Protect in the DP Metagame isn't the best thing to go with as there are WAY too many Pokemons that hits hard right off the bat. This also applies to Celebi. You need reliable recovery moves on your bulky pokemons. In this case, I would suggest taking off Psychic for Recover. Psychic isn't as helpful as one may think as all of Celebi's counter forces Celebi to switch anyway.

Solid team although I'd like to point out that you have a Choice Specs weak. To counter this, you currently have one and only 1 option, to set Light Screen up. You can't really rely on that though. Also, with no pokemon with reliable recovery and nothing tanking Special attacks, anything with Specs can tear this team apart, notable SpecsMence. You can revenge-kill SpecsMence, SpecsGar etc. quite easily but then again, you can't trap them to guarantee a kill. I highly recommend a solid Special Wall (like Blissey or Cresselia) to be added into this team.
