ORAS UU RMT Mega Aggron

So I am quite new to teambuilding and UU itself, so I decided I needed some feedback on my team. All advice and critisicm is welcome!

Aggron @ Aggronite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Roar

As my favorite Pokemon, Aggron is the star of the team that I built around. It functions as a mixed tank as well as a stealth rocker, and roar for phasing with Stealth rocks. The careful nature and investment allows it take some special hits, while still tanking against physical hits.

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Scald
- Heal Bell
- Protect

Vaporeon has good synergy well with Aggron because it covers his rock and ground weakness, can absorb scalds, and can wish pass to Aggron giving him recovery. He functions as the team cleric with heal bell which clears away any status problems on my team. Vaporeons own scald allows the chance to burn and potentially cripple the opponents physical pokes as well.

Crobat @ Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Defog
- Roost

Crobat serves as my defogger while also scouting as my lead with his great speed and U-turn. Brave bird is for hitting fighting types and roost for survivability. The reason I chose him is because he takes on any fighting types that threaten Aggron, completing the Aggron/Vaporeon/Crobat core.

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- U-turn
- Heat Wave

This poke is my special sweeper and forms a U-turn core with crobat to keep the momentum going. With choice scarf, He outspeeds most Pokemon that might threat Aggron. Hydreigon is here because I needed a fast special sweeper that could take out threats for Aggron. Draco meteor can kill with relative easy, and dark pulse is a secondary STAB when dealing against things that resist dragon or are weak to dark. Finnaly heat wave is for coverage against grass and steel types. The reason heat wave is chosen over fire blast is matter of better accuracy.

Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Energy Ball
- Shadow Ball
- Heat Wave
- Trick

Since Aggron is threatened by fire types, I added chandelure to take fire hits, while strengthening my Sp Atk with flash fire. He is my other special sweeper that also acts as a spin blocker so that stealth rock is not removed. Trick is on here to deal with things like eviolite, leftovers, choice band and other things. Heat wave is my main method of killing, but shadow ball hits other ghost types and energy ball can revenge kill water types.

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off

My last member is on here because I noticed I had a slight electric weakness, and needed another physical attacker. Priority is also something that I lacked so that's another reason mamoswine got this spot because of ice shard. Knock off is on mamoswine because it removes leftovers and whatnot from walls that might trouble my team. Earthquake and icicle crash are included for hard hitting reliable STAB.

Again, all criticism welcome.

(This is my first RMT and my first post, so I apologize if the descriptions are not adequate)

Hey Ohai_Aggron, and welcome to Smogon! This is a pretty solid looking balance team (love the Vaporeon :]). Anyways, you have a lot of good things going, but I see a few changes you can make that will improve your team's effectiveness overall:
  • While Mega Aggron has insane physical defense, in the current UU metagame full SpD Mega Aggron fails to wall like it did in the past. With pokemon like Mamoswine dominating the tier, it is a good idea to spread out your EVs to better take on these threats. I would suggest running a mixed defensive EV spread of 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD with a Careful Nature, as this allows you to always survive two Life Orb EQ's from Mamoswine. I would also suggest a slight moveset alteration, changing Heavy Slam -> Iron Head. While Heavy Slam deals more damage to pokemon such as Florges and Aromatisse, it does disappointing damage to the likes of Mega Abomasnow and Mamoswine since they are both heavy pokemon, and these two in particular are extremely threatening towards your team. Vaporeon can only switch in to Mamoswine if rocks are not on the field, and nothing really wants to switch into Mega Abomasnow, so being able to 2HKO both with Iron Head is important.
  • I would make a slight change to your Crobat EVs to 248 HP / 20 Atk / 240 Spe with a Jolly Nature. It's important to have an odd HP number on pokemon weak to Stealth Rock, and the fastest thing you need to speed creep on Crobat is Adamant Mega Beedrill. 240 Spe EVs hits 391 Spe, which outspeeds Adamant Bee by two and opposing Crobats that may only creep to 390 by one.
  • Your team in its current state is rather weak to CM Suicune, especially Roar variants. A quick change you could make is adding Life Orb Taunt Hydreigon over the scarf set with a moveset of Draco Meteor / Dark Pulse / Taunt / Roost. This set beats standard CroCune 1v1 (provided you switch it in before it gets to +2) which is extremely helpful for your team, as you currently lack a way to kill it reliably. It's also a general stallbreaker which is nice to have on any team.
  • Since I suggested getting rid of your Choice Scarf on Hydreigon, I'd suggest changing Choice Specs -> Choice Scarf on Chandelure, as it provides you with a revenge killer / late game cleaner. Scarf Chandelure also checks all variants of Lucario which is quite a threat to your team. I would also change Heat Wave -> Fire Blast, as it is the preferred STAB fire move, dealing considerably more damage.
  • Your team definitely is prone to offensive electric types, and Mamoswine generally isn't the best check to these. The two most common offensive electric types in the tier, Heliolisk and Rotom-C, both have coverage moves that can potentially OHKO Mamoswine. Your team is also very Nido weak, so a change you can make that will mitigate these weaknesses is changing Mamoswine -> Curselax. Snorlax provides a blanket check for most special attackers in the tier and provides you with a win condition. The standard 144 HP / 188 Def / 176 SpD EVs and Curse / Body Slam / Rest / Sleep Talk moveset are fine for your team.
Other than that, I believe you have a solid team that will perform well. Hope you try out my suggestions, and good luck with the team.

Hey Ohai_Aggron, welcome to Smogon! For being new to UU and Smogon, your team isn't half bad, you seem to understand the basics of synergy for the most part. From what I can see, your team looks like it will struggle with stall and more bulkier teams in general. I had a lot of this already written out, but Vapo beat me too it. Coincidently, Vapo and I had a lot of the same ideas. I was planning on suggestion a switch to Taunt Roost Hydreigon, Snorlax over Mamoswine, and Fire Blast on Chandelure.

I am still going to rate your team because I have a few changes I want to make that Vapo did not. First off, I am going to give you two basic changes. I believe a change to Baton Pass > Heal Bell on Vaporeon is your best bet. Baton Pass lets you get risk free Wishes off into any of your pokemon as well as it being a great move to snag momentum on predicted switches. The cons from losing Heal Bell does not seem to outweigh the Pros Baton Pass provides. Also, run 0 speed IV's on Vaporeon so you can out-slow most pokemon to get "free" Wishes off with Baton Pass.

My last basic change is to run a more attack invested Crobat. I think keeping Choice Specs on Chandelure is perfectly fine since your team would love the wall breaking because outside of Hydreigon and Chadelure, the team does not have to many pokemon to punch wholes in most teams. Crobat is still bulky enough to take on practically any fighting type, even with minimal investment. Since you lack a Choice Scarf user, I think a Max Attack Crobat can serve as your revenge killer. Your team has enough bulk to be able to take on most Scarfers in the tier, so having that Speed a Scarfer has is not insanely crucial. Your set should be:

crobat.gif

Crobat @ Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 20 HP / 252 Atk / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Defog
- Roost

My final suggestion is Mega Steelix > Mega Aggron. Both pokemon are extremely similar but the niche Mega Steelix has is being able to be a reliable Volt Switch absorber. With Mamoswine replaced, your team became very prone to Volt Switch whit your only resist being Hydreigon. Although Mega Steelix lacks the ability Filter, it has a higher Special Defense stat as well as the Ground typing for Volt Switch. With these changes, I believe you have yourself a solid balance team, good luck!

- Iron Head
- Earthquake

The two suggestions from above I agree with most are changing Mamoswine to Curselax and Hydreigon to the Taunt LO set. These two simple changes allow you to both check defensively a lot more of the metagame while actually adding offensive pressure. You lack a solid win condition on your team which is a common problem when forming a squad that "answers" a lot of mons but doesn't have a lot of coherency, necessarily, on its own.

The Mega Abomasnow weakness really starts to shine at this point though. It's a tough mon to deal with, considering natural bulk and appropriate coverage options where applicable. My suggestion becomes a bit more esoteric at this point, but it is something I feel could work for your team and address that problem. Have you considered using Moltres to combine Chandelure's fire type coverage (Fire/Flying on an LO Moltres is very good across the tier) and Crobat's ability to defog?

If you were to make this change, this frees up a slot in the team. With that in mind I think you can use a mon that adds a fighting type resist (lost a bit of defensive utility dropping them both) and still continues to strengthen your team in a bulky offense manner, making the coherency of the team even greater. For this suggestion, I like Dragalage, which greatly appreciates the clerical and wish support provided by Vaporeon. Additionally, bulkier teams with heavy hitters will appreciate toxic spike support which Dragalage provides easily as it forces many switches. There are very few mons in the tier that appreciate switching into an Adaptability Draco Meteor and your other teammates handle them relatively easily.

So my suggested sets would be:

Moltres @ Life Orb / Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Hurricane
- Defog
- Roost

and

Dragalge @ Black Sludge
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Wave
- Toxic Spikes
- Haze

Thanks for all the suggestions! Did not think I would get this much replies :P.

Currently testing out all the advice. I have to say Snorlax is definitely a welcome addition to my team, as it is very bulky and has swept my opponents on numerous occasions :D
