Hello everyone, I wanted to make a team the focused on Mega Heracross since he is my favorite, and I have had good results from this team. Any tips would be appreciated.
Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 252 Spe, 252 HP, 4 Atk
Jolly Nature
-Stealth Rocks
-Tailwind
-Taunt
-Stone Edge
This guy is my lead. He is there to set up SR and to Taunt block their entry hazard users. SR also severely cripples many of Mega Heracross's threats, such as Talonflame. Tailwind support makes Mega Heracross much more of a viable option. Stone Edge is for some STAB damage. Focus Sash almost ensures that I get up both SR and Tailwind, unless the opponent's lead has a priority. He out speeds most leads, and can be somewhat of a suicide lead if he needs to be.
Vaporeon Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP, 240 Def, 16 SpA
Bold Nature
-Scald
-Ice Beam
-Wish
-Protect
This is my main counter to Talonflame, since it can switch into a Brave Bird and not take too much damage. Scald is my STAB, with a hopeful burn to complement the damage. Ice Beam to take care of Gliscor and Dragons. Wish for both longevity and to keep my others healthy. Protect to let both Wish and Leftovers do what they need to do.
Heracross @ Heracronite
Ability: Guts (Skill Link)
EVs: 252 Atk, 196 HP, 60 Def
Adamant Nature
-Bullet Seed
-Pin Missile
-Rock Blast
-Earthquake
He is simply the best. EVs give him a little more longevity. Bullet Seed is there to take care of Water Pokemon. Pin Missile is my STAB. Rock Blast after a Tailwind easily takes down Mega Charizard Y, which has been one of my main threats to this team. Earthquake for coverage, plus to get rid of Aegislash, which otherwise walls me pretty well. Close Combat was dropped in favor of the moves for overall coverage. Only type I don't hit super effective on now with EQ instead of CC is Normal.
Drapion @ Life Orb
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
-Swords Dance
-Knock Off
-Poison Jab
-Earthquake
This guy has really surprised me. He only has a Ground weakness, which usually means I can switch him in safely. Tailwind support also makes him a more potent threat. He is immune to Psychic, another of Heracross's weaknesses, as well as being a safe switch in to Toxic, which makes a Megacross sweep much more difficult. Swords Dance whenever there is an opportunity. Knock Off for a strong STAB attack, plus remove the item. Poison Jab for those pesky fairies. EQ for coverage.
Talonflame @ Lum Berry
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
-Brave Bird
-Flare Blitz
-Tailwind
-U-Turn
Talonflame has wrecked me so many times when trying to build a team, I figured he could fill a role on my team. Priority Tailwind and Brave Bird are great moves for this team. Doubling the other Pokemon's speed on the team is great, especially for Mega Heracross. Brave Bird takes care of Fighting Pokemon, as well as hitting very hard. Flare Blitz for a STAB move. U-Turn to either scout out the opponent, or for a switch in.
Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 Atk
Naughty Nature
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
This guy complements Heracross very well, as he can switch into Talonflame and deal a lot of damage with Rough Skin, Rocky Helmet, and the recoil damage. He also switches in fairly well on Mega Charizard Y. EV spread makes him a Mixed Attacker, since my only other Special attacker would be Vaporeon. All the moves are for coverage. He has two very strong STAB moves, plus Fire Blast for Ferrothorn and other Steel Pokemon. Stone Edge is also for dealing with Charizard and Talonflame.
There it is. My team has some notable weaknesses that I have seen, but I cannot for the life of me decide who should go in favor of possible solutions, since the team works very well. Sticky Web is a problem for me, if they can get it up. Aerodactyl is my only counter to this, since I can Taunt them, but if he goes down, I have to scramble to take out their Sticky Web User. Once Tailwind petters out, I have to find a suitable way to either get one of my frail Tailwind users back in. Luckily, this hasn't been too much of a problem, but I can foresee that being a possibility. I am without a Rapid Spinner or a Defogger, so if hazards are up, I am stuck with them. Again, hasn't been too much of a problem, but it could be. I would love any feedback you could give me, as I am really happy with this team, but want to make it as good as possible before I begin breeding in the actual game and trying to climb the ladder on Showdown.
